There was an almost identical saying in the USSR: "so long as the bosses pretend to pay us, we will pretend to work." :-/
3
I believe it was Lenin who once predicted that the capitalist powers would compete to sell the USSR the rope with which it would later hang them all. That didn't work out, but I can't help but think that the CCP is proving him correct all these years later.
2
I agree.
2
Correct. It simply doesn't work according to all the reliable data.
2
There's lies, damn lies, and statistics.
2
Providing clear guidelines would defeat the point of these "laws."
2
Insert a Long March joke here.

@katherinelok7689 Yes. A very, very famous author. His most famous work is probably a toss-up between "1984" and "Animal Farm." Both are must-reads for every human being.
2
@colgatetoothpaste4865 Given that I have no other way to assist, I choose to do what little I can. <3
2
Pretty much, yeah. Charging ports and fuel ports work much the same way from what I've seen.
2
China is catching up to California. 🤣
2
Any civil engineer worth their salt over designs stuff by at least a factor of two

WAR IS PEACE FREEDOM IS SLAVERY IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH

Reading between the lines of the subway's statement, I think it was probably an e-bike

@icemann4699 That's because it was never about economics for the USA. It was about national security. Specifically combatting the USSR. We basically bribed most of the world into siding with us against the Soviets. Specifically the bribe was twofold: firstly, we would guarantee free and safe ocean travel for all nations at all times. Secondly, we would open our domestic market to all comers, even at the cost of our own economy. We can afford it, after all. It worked. Now that the USSR is no more, the system has continued on inertia. For how much longer is anyone's guess.

Well, living under commie rule is enough to drive anyone insane. May as well dress the part.
1
To the best of my knowledge, that's incorrect. Or rather, that's only a side benefit to the CCP if it's anything. They have no other tool than lockdowns to manage COVID deaths; their vaccine doesn't work, and their own hypernationalistic rhetoric prevents them from using foreign vaccines. These lockdowns are literally the only thing they can do to prevent mass-casualty events. Not trying to justify what the CCP is doing, but given their particular brand of crazy this is the only option they will accept.

Russia just wants to steal anything that might be useful for their war effort, is my guess.
1
Pro tip: the word "chassis" is pronounced like "chassy" (which is not a word, if you're wondering).
1
@occashares Maybe read the source material before mocking it? Just saying. ;)
1
"An issue with bicycle equipment." Translation: somebody's e-bike caught fire, which set off God-knows-what other materials.
1
Dogfighting isn't a thing and hasn't been for many decades.
1
It's an illusion they create by printing money and fudging figures. The PRC's entire economy is a dead man walking. Most of the country will likely have returned to an agricultural state within the next decade or two, and it may or may not remain a single country through this process. You want to be literally anywhere else in the world right now.

@alanparsonsfan Those same vids are what made me aware of the problem.

The difference between civilization and savagery is nine square meals.
1
@umbrellacorporationwuhanfa3731 What are the other two? Always looking for more info.
1
Let me remind everyone that the real (original) name of "RedNote" is "Little Red Book."
1
Precisely correct. Their vaccine doesn't work, they won't use the ones that do because ego, and if they try for natural immunity they'll have millions of deaths in a short amount of time. This self-destroying policy of lockdowns is the only option the CCP can accept given their particular brand of crazy.
1
@visitante-pc5zc Probably much less painful to use for long periods

Life, liberty, and property. :usa:

They already are. Remember the semiconductor sanctions?

Emperor Xi has lost the Mandate of Heaven and must be replaced.
1
@samsonsoturian6013 Yep, and it could still happen if we let it.
1
If they're subsidizing the crap out of these rail routes, the least they can do is lower the prices to make them affordable to everyone. That would seem to be a political victory at least.
1
I agree. No idea what happened with the mass shooting, but I doubt it was this. Unfortunately.
1
@DanielCrain-l3j I agree, but propaganda is propaganda. Take their biases into account when you listen to their reports. :)
1
@randacnam7321 The US petrochem market is taking off like a rocket, and with the collapse of fertilizer availability worldwide (and globalization generally) the US will be one of very few countries still able to produce agricultural surplus. The two other big ones off the top of my head are France and Argentina.
1
@TheMangoman72 Only a little over 200. Do remember how young we are as a country.
1
@sleepyjoe4529 Oh is that who's behind this? It's obviously anti-CCP, but I wasn't sure what the exact perspective was.
1
@danielch6662 Fascinating! Thank you for the explanation. <3
1
Any open fight between the US and its allies and the PRC would be completely one-sided... America's way. The only fight I can see going China's way is if somebody was retarded enough to invade their mainland. They'd win that hands-down.
1
Well done to the new narrator, but please don't over-emote. It distracts from the information you're conveying. ❤
1
@thebranch3874 a) There are actually studies that suggest otherwise b) Learn to troll. <3

@sabrekai8706 And those kids were not protesting what we in the West assume they were. It was a very strange situation that I still don't fully comprehend.

@shockcat5988 Sounds about right.
1
Any comment I could make as a Westerner would come across as extremely condescending.
1
Totalitarian regimes draw their thugs from two sources: bullies and mindless functionaries. Both are quite cowardly.
1
@ChinaObserver0 That's a surprisingly genteel expression for a regime that (so I'm told) bills your family for the pistol round used to execute you.
1
Too bad we can't just move some of China's surplus housing to where I live (New England, USA). We could use a bit more supply in our residential real estate market.
