Props to the supermarket employees for not taking any chances with the weird noises and acting decisively. That's not as common as one might wish.

If you made the bingo card look a bit cleaner and more professional, it would make a FANTASTIC workplace safety poster. No joke.

If you want more dust explosion stories look into silo fires here in the US. It's been a problem for decades as far as I know.

Honestly, props to the operators for acting as quickly as they could. My only criticism is how long they took to realize they'd lost their source. After that it seems to my inexpert eye that they did everything right.
67
Yeah. What's really scary is that I might do the same thing. How is a normal person to even think that some random thingie might be intensely radioactive? Brrr.
45
Honestly the whole thing seems above-board and legit to me right up until they tried to skew the results and avoid taking financial responsibility.
29
'Oversight'? That sounds like it costs money. Get rid of it!
22
Always remember: "flammable" and "inflammable" mean the same thing. 😕
21
After this, I'd say the King's Cross fire should logically come next. All the horror of this terrible story, with the added nightmare of being stuck underground. 😕

You forgot "Company Blames Victim" on the bingo card. The whole bit about most damage being due to 'poor build quality' falls squarely in that, well, square as far as I'm concerned. :)

Workplace safety poster.
8
@ORLY911 No bet.
7
Let's pick a city and get testing! (Not even kidding. And yes, I'd be happy for Lowell, MA--the city I live next to--to be the test bed.)
7
NYC types liked being able to get to Europe quickly.
7
You missed "cost cutting" on the bingo card. I'm no engineer, but I'm pretty sure that's why the upper floors were built with such little reinforcement.
6
@emilschw8924 If you can, get yourself a proper filter, one that can handle raw water from a river or whatever. Preferably a large one, so you can use it at scale. Prepper stuff. 😕
6
Plainly: "...coroners cutting hands off victims for later identification." Me: "You did say London, right? Not Moscow or Beijing?" 😱
5
@Skullair313 Eminently reasonable. My interest in the matter only extends to the fact that I hate being a tall person squeezed into a tiny seat, so a plane I only have to sit on for half as long would be nice.
5
Yeah. How's the electricity supply where you live these days? Haven't heard an update on that whole thing in a few months.
5
@emilschw8924 Glad to hear the power situation's a bit better... but the water thing is truly concerning. Leaving aside dehydration or whatever, bad water is how you get diseases. I'll throw a few more prayers your way. <3
5
At first I thought this was about that Pemex disaster where the pipes were so corroded the soil got saturated with gasoline. I forget the name of the city.
5
At least nowadays, I think miners actually make pretty good money. One would hope so, anyway, given how much skill and danger the work involves.
4
That and the first thing they'd do is contact the lawyers, who would tell them to STFU and stay that way.
4
What did they do for water? A human can only (barely) survive for ~72 hours without water, and IIRC they were down there for ~173 hours, plus however much of their shift they worked beforehand. Were there stores of water and food cached for such situations?
4
@shannonpincombe8485 Any sort of organic dust seems prone to some sort of fuel-air explosive phenomenon.
4
@ntsecrets Actually, the Great Molasses disaster would be a superlative video. The best single source I know is a book entitled "Dark Tide." I forget the author.

@Jimmietwotimes 🤣🤣🤣

"Eh, there won't be anything released at that altitude. Stop worrying."
3
Given that they apparently planned to replace the pillars, I'd say "Temporary Fix" should be checked off on the bingo card too. 😕 (My mind is still blown on the "knock out pillars and replace them later" thing. Just... wow. I thought I was clueless about architectural engineering. Wow.)
3
I wonder what the elapsed time was between the first local authorities being notified and somebody in the US Army Chemical Corps (or whatever it's called) going pale and saying "Oh, SHIT!" 😂

You forgot the plans for New City Hall in Boston being approved. 😂
2
That just means Plainly has made it as a YouTuber! 😂
2
Did they have access to VX? I don't recall that being one of the substances they worked with, but I admit I kinda blocked the details from my memory. 😕
2
Damn, we got close to a cover-all bingo there. 😕 Also, what's the point of having self-rescue equipment if nobody knows how to use it? That's not safety equipment, that's just dead weight.
2
It's spelled "'Murica!" 😂
2
@douglaschamberlain9773 Damn. Thanks for expanding on this for us. 😕
2
@Porty1119 Makes perfect sense. Thanks!
2
All I can picture is the Transportation Dept advisor from "SimCity 2000" yelling "YOU CAN'T CUT BACK ON FUNDING!!! YOU WILL REGRET THIS!" 🤣
2
@leechowning2712 Oh really? I thought I'd binged the entire catalogue, but apparently not. If you'll excuse me... ;)
2
@alisonwilson9749 That would seem sensible, yes.
2
We can't check it off without documentary evidence but I wouldn't be surprised if the "no training" space should be ticked as well. 😂
2
What really cracks me up is when Brits say things like "The I-95" in reference to our Interstate Highways, since they refer to their equivalents as "The M-4" or similar. :P
2
One assumes. The professional governing body found multiple people guilty of negligence, so I would hope that comes with stripping of licenses and such.
2
Llamas! ❤🦙

@Lukeasz096 whoof

Six years on, and we're up to 919K... ^_^

I'm sorry, but given the exact nature of the derailment, I must ask: MULTI-TRACK DRIFTU?!!!
1
Also, it wasn't explicitly stated, but I'd be shocked if "Cost Cutting" wasn't a big factor in the slapdash construction. Likely "Temporary Fix" too.
