Incorrect. The term "gun" is very general and can refer to all sizes of firearms. The more technical term for what you describe is (most commonly) "cannon." Depending on the specifics it might be more properly described as a "howitzer" or even a large "mortar," though. I'm sure there's other types of artillery that I don't know or can't remember.

Absolutely magnificent. <3

@lzydwg You win the Internet for today. Congratulations! <3

To get politicians to increase military spending, just develop a ravenous military-industrial complex. Worked for us here in the USA! :)
4
As a video gamer, I can't help giggling at "it just works." ^_^
4
@thegodfather_8455 I don't remember specificially, but there was basically an unboxing vid of one of the crates with Ian helping them. If you search for the company name or Ethiopian in the channel history it will likely come up

Please do one of these on the term "Personal Defense Weapon" (or PDW), so I can finally get the concept across to @21Kiloton. ☢
3
The crowbar thing loses its luster by the third crate. Trust me.
3
Definitely in Texas and Montana. Not sure about other states.
3
@no1DdC I agree; he's needs a plaid sport coat and a faded necktie. And more airtime. :D
3
This thing wouldn't last a day in the wilderness. It's a shop prototype that's been mostly user-proofed.
3
When you need to take out a Metal Gear but don't have a Stinger launcher.
3
If it worked properly, we'd all be dead.
3
I've always heard it pronounced more like "Dishka." Is that just Americans being American with the pronunciation, or is it a po-tay-to po-tah-to situation, or what?
3
Not dull, Ian. I come here for the history, since I'm too thick to understand the mechanical stuff. ^_^
3
Before this tech can eclipse conventional firearms, it not only needs to lower weight and raise impact, but also needs to be reliable, field-proof, soldier-proof, and on and on and on. But yeah, baby steps. Props to David for not overselling this model or the technology in general.
3
Just for context here, the GR-1 lists at $3,375 USD on Arcflash's website. Out of my budget, but hopefully not out of yours. :)

Got any grapes?

@spraynpray What planet are you on?
2
@nehcrum Thanks, that makes a bit more sense now.

XXL: .50 AE

Novelty target shooting? /shrug

Beaverish Buck Teeth Pretty sure the company as a whole is still headquartered just outside of Paris.
2
That's the spirit :)

I remember watching reruns one drunken night in college, when that episode came on. I had to explain to my mostly-blasted, non-history-major friends that A&F used to be very different. Hard, since I was three sheets to the wind myself.
2
Or a porno.
2
Ian looks so happy! ^_^
2
Like every genuine badass I've ever met, M. Prouteau looks incredibly ordinary. ❤
2
All very interesting, but how do you do it *illegally*?
2
24:00 - Likewise, the German units using wooden bullets (particularly in Normandy) was actually training ammo being pressed into frontline service.
2
Thanks for that. >_<
2
I never knew that. My opinion of A&F just jumped about 5 notches. (Can't STAND the man.)
2
@SonsOfLorgar Would that it were, my brother. Would that it were. ^_^
2
I thought the vanilla M3 charged from the bolt, and the M3A1 had the charging handle. Did I have that backwards?
2
How many days did you spend filming in the Gray Room anyway, Ian? It's the gift that keeps on giving <3
2
So CUTE! Oh my goodness <3
2
@ishitrealbad3039 Depends on where in the country you are. I live in MA, and that's actually not as common a sentiment as you may think. People who disagree keep their peace so they won't be hounded to death.
2
If it wasn't next door to Russia, I'd want to move to Finland.
2
Just so you know, Ian, I'm always far more interested in the history behind the guns than their mechanics. I don't expect you to neglect the latter for the sake of the former, but please don't leave the history out! <3

Re: the NJ law -- this is why we can't have nice things.
2
Too funny.

Somebody please please PLEASE make an Arma 3 mod of this pistol. I'm sure we can tap Ian for the sound recordings. <3
1
@Mike-ukr I'd say it's a weapon issued for primarily the purpose of self-defense, to those personnel who are not frontline infantrymen. What you describe is how most modern PDWs tend to go, but a pistol issued for this purpose also counts. The M1 Carbine as employed by the US Army during WWII also counts. That's my opinion, anyway.
1
@Mike-ukr & @BleedingUranium I'd argue that a PDW is a role rather than a distinct type of firearm. Every "PDW" can be fitted neatly into an existing category; it's just employed (and often designed) with the PDW role in mind. This is the crux of the debate/argument/confusion surrounding the term. For example, I'd argue that an M1 Carbine is intrinsically a carbine. A P90 is intrinsically an SMG. A Skorpion is intrinsically a machine pistol. Again, this is my view, shaped mainly by the answer Ian gave when I put the question to him in a Q&A probably years ago now.
1
This is cool, but I still prefer the classic BFG-9000
1
Has this been modded into ArmA 3 yet? :P
1
I believe the appropriate expression is "penny wise, pound foolish."
1
Why hasn't this story been made into a movie?
1
Whenever I hear "no-clip rifle" I just think of a rifle that lets you walk through walls.

It's just Twitter. You don't have to qualify yourself. ❤
