  1. I think his case illustrates how employers get around the legal limit of the working day and pay wages below the real market basket of goods to employees. Think about it. If you are, for good reason, a recipient of any government assistance program,--- you cannot accept a job that pays more than what the program says you can earn. Working full-time in a job you can perform with your disability and be a productive person to society is discouraged, denied, and defended by the government, --they take away your disability check on the presumption you can buy your own coverage,- and nobody is holding you back you can buy your own but when you do, the market for private insurance, fells you into bankruptcy and homelessness. When health becomes a thing you can sell and buy it is only the rich who live...and the poor die!

  3. Bernie should not run if Warren runs. I would not split the vote among progressives. The point is to take Congress back. As Bernie, I could do more to build a movement a progressive candidate will need to beat the GOP and right wing. In the Congress, the far left progressives can get more seats push moderate progressive to do more to neutralize the Democrats and Republicans on critical legislation and reforms.

  4. Yeah, well, that does appear to be the situation Justin. America presents herself to the world as one side of a disconnected whole. You never know how much can be accomplished under different people, e.,g., Bernie or Warren. Warren may not be the incremental reform type of democrat as thought once in office. She embodies two of three oppressed groups, women and native Americans. By no means does she claim or meets the acknowledged requirement as a tribal member - she makes no pretense of any of this. But two out of three subtle representations of oppressed minorities on the empathy scale she would have over Trump is a plus over an election between two old male baby boomers. Her temperament is ideal for president, she's a bitch and white old males are bowled over by her. She hates bankers, finds them evil and they are. It just occurred to me the problem with Bernie is that with a Bernie you have to have a Trump. The Trump character manufactures the Bernie character as a necessity. Thing to do is to get rid of the necessity. Bernie is not his own person as the opposite of Trump and neither is Trump his own person to begin with. In both individuals we are not getting genuine authenticity of character. They are two parts of a whole both dependent on an idea or philosophy. Dangerous because philosophy has an element to it that is unstable. Ideology is the unstable element already used as a weapon against Bernie and progressives.

Warren's realization of socialist programs is to her the task of enlightened people, she has no provision for lining up socialist teachings with the everyday lives and struggles of the working classes. How do you get people who have little time left over for themselves to think socialism?  Her criticisms of the 1%, unlike Bernie's, are detached from class inequality as an expression of the class struggle underlying the surface of society. Bernie discusses an economy that works for working people not the top 1%, he brings context into the daily particular struggles people face everyday, a rigged one-sided economy. As workers begin to strike and more plant closings take place, Bernie will get worker attention for recognizing the class struggle. Warren will get the public immediate attention criticizing the caprice of the 1%. She will not critcize the social foundation or the social antagonism upon which the 1% rests; she merely wants that power structure to be applied in a human way. She may sing the songs of the poor person and their inconsequentiality in all this misery but her understanding of the connection between this power of the 1% and the existing situation is a complete misconception of the means Oligarchs must use to become the power and remain in power. Class struggle is not a doctrine, its the school where doctrines arise and are tested, used and discarded. Working people who have been straddled by 'well-wishing' education and representatives of other social classes into overwork as the American way to success.

The CIA is a a power at a higher level than the power that is confronting people in the streets. The power in the streets consisting of dark forces does not have to physically confronted. Local county and state power would go to progressives and leftists if progressives and leftists moved to occupy the county committees. These county committees is how the far right were able to infiltrate all the major important decision-making offices in the county and the state. Its how they took over the GOP. This guy Jordan is a loon. The reason has to do with the lack of control over the coronavirus that is going to kill millions of Americans. To admit he has failed spells the end of his re-election, but he is a failure when history writes about him. Once the consumer economy is crushed by the death of millions from the virus and people become too sick the for "profit vultures" are doomed. They know this and are warning him. It takes a while to sink in. Without buyers the sellers have nobody to sell products is basic captialism 101. Right now a huge market in Italy is lost to American corporations. If Europe goes into shock like Italy that market is lost to US corporations. If the US market goes into the shock, the largest economy is lost to US corporations. So everything he is doing is only to slow down the economy from collapsing not the virus from spreading. Trump has a double crisis on his hands the end of the US economy and the pandemic. e will ultimately infuse the economy from the bottom trillions and he will call the military to use to deal with the pandemic. Once he realizes that all other tools fave failed thhose are his last resort. The problem is; the longer he delays the more time the virus enters into its airborn phase the harder it will be to stop transmission or contagion. You should be learning everything you can about this virus. You should be asking why and how did this happen? The answer is really simple, why? So simple a 16 year old girl knows the answer. Humans have transformed the environement in such a way that it has changed our relationship to animals. With 1300 species of bats and 6 to 5 caronaviruses in all bats severe acute respiratory disease spreads through a sick planet where humans have changed the ecology in how we live with animals. We are exposed to the spill over from animals and our intimate living with animals of all varieties in cultures that either revere them religiously or adopt them as part of the society we live. The Nippa virus epidemic was caused by deforestation and the movement of bats closer to other animals. Changing ecology is crucial to how animal and human are related. Higher temperatures, human and planetary health is at the basis of this crisis and pandemic. Africa, Latin America and Asia are ticking time bombs. None of your candidates spoke to the issue of the ecology and planetary health as it realtes to diseases should tell you that all of them politicized this crisis and ignored the medical-ecological question of human habitation and health. The public is completely ignorant on the question. No question Bernie would be better than Trump because Bernie is not anti-science but that is the only reason he would be better than Trump. Trump would be better than Bernie because Trump is not anti-capitalist and will pull out all the resources to save capitalism which of necessity will call out the military who will call out the scientists.

But it is nieve to believe insiders are really outsiders, even Bernie.  Bernie is closer to the outside of the democratic party establishment while everyone to the right of Warren are all insiders. But what is their social class is more important, I think, than what they say they will do? Pelosi is a landowner, she belongs to a more liberal side of America's landowning class. Owning a commodity such as the Napa Valley Vineyard is world famous for its general wealth that the Pelosi family will forever be rich. The same is true for the Clintons and all the other billionaires in the democtatic party. The Catholic Church, Columbia University, Donald Trump, all landowners. Communications and technical industries are not part of the establishment landowning class but become the establishment as the years roll by and the old establishment pass on their wealth to the next generation of inheriting landowners to young to carry the mission of the party. Mission being that America, under the present social form of class and poltiical power is never threatened or changed by any outside social class, namely, the working class. America is a developed society with complex social classes but it is still a plantation based economy. The slaves have been made into wage earners divided by land, i.e., urban and rural private property, as the last remaining thread of ownership and independence that keeps the working classes from overthrowing the landed aristocracy of capitalism from power. Republicans are a war party of individual landowners not institutional landowners like the democratic party. Individual capitalists such as Koch Industries, mining companies, large scale capitalist producers are also landowners put up a titanic struggle to get their way in government to monopolize land ownership and keep the workplace under their personal ownership and control. Anyone not a part of the landowning social class dominating the two party system but are a part of the political structure like the man from Brooklyn and the woman from the mid-west, are proletarianized small or petty-landowners. Easy to see the parties are divided according the size of the landowner, the bigger the more institutionalized, the smaller the more personalized individual family or person who are dependent on the labor-porcess for a living are engaged in this class struggle without realizing it or having any control over the capital the large landowners use to maintain the social arrangement small landowners live. And who are Sanders and Warren? Why are they appealing to this multitude of petty landowners/working class; what is their social and class background that makes them outsiders inside a party structure in the same way the two working classes in society, are divided by rural and urban land ownership, are outsiders inside the poltiical structure? The common substance between them is their social class as a wage earners, not what they own, but what they produce as wage earners for the dominant social classes.

Part of this is a cult of personality that grows up around the idea of what Warren's movement is, not the movement itself.  I think there is a piece of this in all developing movements, they acquire their heros and villians and die out in a relatively short time but some ideas stick. People see in Warren a humanism the social world lacks and share a realism to restore order and harmony in the social relations of society. "Be critical of all things but do nothing," I call it 'realistic humanism', that Warren uses, consciously or not, to criticize the billionaires and the state as the main obstacle to the social good. Warren expresses a realistic humanism, Bernie expresses a social pragmatism on the economy and the social inequality in the economy. As far as which is the better to get bigger half of the economy out from the lurch, by far, Bernie for his pragmatism is the kind of skill needed to re-arrange the economy in order to make it work for Main Street. We cannot whip the billionaire class into submission with aspirations, they have to be nailed down to the floor with taxes of the income they acquire without taxation and then make the structural changes to the economy.

I truly respect discussing these domestic issues, I really do, and they are valid but without connecting the domestic exploitation of Americans, black or white, to the international exploitation of less powerful nations called a threat to the more powerful nation that is the US, will bring on a major defeat to the Left. Russia’s recent warning to the US is a nuclear warning about sending Tanks and Jets to Ukraine. When you compare the GDP of Russia the the US, Italy is more of a threat to the US than Russia. China is more of a threat to the US than Russia. Russia’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product) is nearly 9 times less than US GDP that Russia felt pushed against the wall by the US pushing allies in the West will use nuclear weapons, is identical to the State’s brutality of black or brown individuals pushed to the wall, at some point will fight back in retaliation.

Who wins are the imperialists and the American people get a piece of that success in the form of a lifestyle that corrupts them into accepting the terms and conditions of life under an empire. The losers are not formidable enemies of a super power. Iraq is not China or Russia. Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan are nations of tribes with a low level industrial capacity operating at an early 20th century level when nuclear weapons were in their conceptional stage still in the mind of Albert Einstein. When natural resources are no longer under the control of US the US would no longer be an empire. But from the point of view of just and unjust wars, very few wars involving the US ended with a victory and only one war among them all was a just war. This 20 something year does not know the real movement of historical events and has a false concept about how his share of social labor has become low enough for him to feel his fall into the world average of poverty. This is when a real grip on historical facts are needed the most that he does not have, is a historical paradox in itself. Because if anyone can change the world and level the playing field between rich and poor, it would be his social class in conjunction with the poor of the world not Donald Trump!

  18. In a word, if the majority of American workers want paid sick and family leave they will have to fight for it! Its really about the employers losing profits to paid sick leave. In other words, being sick does not enrich the company. The excess of product workers make after their own take in a working day comes out short of the projections. Machines don’t get sick so they are constantly enriching the company but without a person operating the machine(s) the enriching process does not happen. Slow down the rate of profit causes panic attacks in employers. Workers are paid while not on the job is an attack on the whole class of employers when you look at it from their point of view. Employers, corporations and companies are essentially paying out the same amount of capital in wages and salaries for less of the value producing work they can exploit within a fixed time frame of 8 hours. So they accelerate production to maximize the gains, machinery, equipment, gear, run overtime and never stop etc.. If the working day is 8 hours and 400 workers are employed and 20 of them are sick under pay the capitalist suffers a 20% drop on the company’s profit rate already falling from a shrinking market, owing to more competition, or a crisis of some kind. Dive in deeper and there are nothing but anomalies beneath the surface which is why the best way out of this crisis and the logical solution is a national health care system and a reduction of the working day from 8 to 6, strive for 100% employment of 332 million not just 132 million people doing all the work and the rest producing nothing of value that helps to regenerate the whole society but function to generate an enrichment process for themselves at the expense of the 123 million doing all the work.

The only spouting they can do is against the real cold winds and rains under a bridge and there nobody cares. I think the number of people who are sitting at home as mother fades away upstairs is far less than the number of homeless people with parents faded into history. In fact if they are home they are the lucky 1% by inheritance of property and privilege relative to the rate of homelessness happening here and around the world.

Standing behind a third party candidate is a positive thing for the working poor. Workers are confronted by a giant wall of employers all doing the same thing providing no escape for workers while, employers face an isolated worker and can get rid of that person if they do not want them on their premises. In the workplace things are not equal. Things are equal outside of the workplace but not in it where the rubber meets the road. Where the best part of our day is spent and robbing the life-giving work that working can be from the workers giving all praise to the employer for work employers never do.

So, what people should prepare for now is how to respond to the republicans when they assume power and Wall Street profits go up while corporations like Walmart keep prices down. Keeping prices down so as to not agitate an angry working class not earning enough when wages fall because profits have gone up. Biggest mistake people make is not understanding this contradictory movement between wages and profits and why it occurs? Its definitely a built-in feature of the economic order of things. Walmart and all the corporations are not in business to raise the standard of wages. As corporations their mission is to sink the standard of wages and this tendency is also mistook by the American public, more specifically, by the Left n Congress as an effect of competition. What they see as an evil or negative effect is in reality the successful working of an iron law of necessity for the survival of corporations. Americans and more specifically, wage -earning working class Americans are more exposed to the encroachments of Big Business and this has to do with the Left limiting themselves to waging a legislative war on the effects of a fall in the average standard of wages. They should be spending their efforts building levers to free the working class from that which keeps the working class in an economic low sandard of living the wage system itself.

I also think it is disingenuous of a socialist to stand on a podium and announce workers are launching a major offensive against GM capital or beyond when nobody but a handful of people are there. He should take stock in the fact that unless he sees in front of him 15, 000 unemployed angry workers launching a fight back against the government for inaction. He should really go home or be honest and make a speech about a movement is needed like the Yellow Vest movement in France if workers want a future. These are lives worthy of a good fighter. That is one socialist that has a job and is out of touch with reality. Everyone is out of touch with reality that even the government shut down knocked some reality into people. Seems anyone with a job making money is grateful for a job that the fear of losing one stops them from empathizing with others who lost a job. They got a taste of reality filing for food stamps and falling behind economically into a lower social economic status. When the next wave of unemployment occurs maybe their attitude will change. No movement can emerge to improve working people's lives if there is no heart and no soul.

  47. The democrats want the re-election of Trump. Tulsi 2020. Bernie 2020. But here is the thing, no matter who I advocate for your vote. You still have to take a stand on climate change. The environmental relation to industry, the relation of the fossil fuel industry to other industries that the democrats support in the form of a military invasion into Iran or Venezuela is a quantitative relation that is 'social'. The blame will fall on the heads of the American people for failing to address the environmental relation of war to climate change.

The news of a railroad company’s aims to overload and overwork workers in trains that get longer and where staffing gets shorter is gradually revealed as a motive for personal gain, and reasons, for a 21 car explosion releasing toxic chemicals the EPA de-regulated, and because of the public health threat the railroad company presents to society Congress will have to investigate the hazardous nature of all workplaces in America. Workplaces made dangerous by corporate management speed ups of the work itself in the workplace and thousands of chemicals under use by workers themselves are de-regulated by the EPA. This is a historic moment for workers in America for a re-unionization of labor. The workplace will be the subject of Congressional hearings. It will be staffed by Kevin McCarthy as Speaker. This puts him in the limelight. Who does he choose to head the investigation? Those friendly to employers and unfriendly to labor from both parties to make it bi-partisan and heavy money lobbying from all industry employer associations and think tanks pressuring senators to stall, sabotage, wreck, distract, deflect, anything possible, to avoid signing into law a regulation of the workplace telling employers what they cannot do, is a decisive battle ahead for American labor.

The other third and the last third are employed by small business and a huge service sector that each generation entering into that workforce is far from being able to compete with industrialized nations and this part of our ability to make things is threatened by monopolies that can buy up for a song huge tracts of land. America has a military and a landed aristocracy of oligarchs and society is divided between Haves and Have Nots more materially and intellectually deprived that a slave in ancient Rome lived better!

  50. A new Bernie third party would have to have an educational component to it. Americans are infected by European models of labor theory and action that a new party can become a party that sells labor out, as is the case so often with the European socialist and labor parties,--- many of them are right wing because there isn’t an educational component that politicizes wages, working conditions, the working day, as a way to rally a crowd, heighten awareness and personally shed outrages with their employers. Educational material on Who benefits from this party and the goals of the party. Workers and employers exchange in proportion in which the value of their wages are contained in the new offer the companies agree to when they get beat by a strike but that makes you a mere union. What would a party be fighting for if it offers no program beyond how A and B exchange are what the centrist democrats are about. Bernie has to break off into a new direction taking a program of action on how to resolve how A and B are appropriated to various outside persons and social classes. The employer and employees of America together are the true productive agency of net wealth, they add to the pre-existing wealth, the market or bitcoin only shuffle around the wealth between different hands.
