Most of the population would flee that area, Venezuala would definitely invade, and the rest of Guyana - not a rich country - would be full of internally displaced people while trying to defend itself. I remember Zelensky trying to play down US warnings of an imminent invasion, and I'm not saying he's never made mistakes (I'm not one of those Westerners who worship him and anyway, I know too many Ukrainians, they wouldn't let me!), but I understood his position at the time, and I understand it now. The theory that a country can be "provoked" to commit genocide is absolutely rotten. And NATO - of which I am not a fan, by the way - has only expanded eastward because eastern European countries jumped through hoops to join this alliance, as they have and are to join the EU: because they know what russia is capable of better than anyone.
