  8.  @anahata2009  I don't deny that it would have been better if Biden hadn't decided to run for a second term. But democratic voters really don't seem to mind, have you noticed how happy they are? And this seems to be an unusual year in many respects - at least, a candidate stepping down is something that's happened before, albeit a long time ago, while it's the first time a convicted criminal gets to run for the highest office in the land.

I didn't say anything about "taking credit / blame": I mentioned the role of instability in stock market fluctuations. A change of nominee at this stage, while not unprecedented, is quite rare, and has come at a time when so much else is going on, so that would temporarily destabilize the market. I imagine that once she is elected, if not sooner, things will begin to calm down.

  32. I have literally just watched that, in the UK! It gave me some sort of temporary relief from the constant anxiety I feel about this election, which should be nothing to do with me but will obviously affect the whole world. Maybe that's why that clip makes for such compelling viewing.

Including NATO members. But hey, by that point trump may have taken the US out of NATO so I suppose you can just sit back and relax.

Besides, he's a liar about facts (you know, those things that have already, and definitely, happened); but those ambiguous statements he drops in the middle of his word salad, that's where he's saying the things that he's intending to do, but can't quite afford to say straight out. And they need to be taken seriously. His undisguised admiration for dictators has been a red flag for a very long time. I remember discussing this situtation in October or November last year, with a British woman in her 80s that I occasionally work with. "We are responsible," she said, and I'm really not paraphrasing. "That was not our land to give." I wish at least some of our politicians had the guts to say that out loud.
