Great explanation, Scott. You seem like a person who looks for solutions and finds them. You also recognoze that what works for you, migh not work for others. I admire you for as well as for your excellent taste in coffee! 😊

This looks like a lovely spot. It's good that you mind your health with your meals, exercise & keeping a good frame of mind.

It interests me how quickly I lose desire for a food item that makes me sick. So I avoid milk products pretty easily - cow milk and I don't get along at all except for bits of cheese and butter - and wheat. So that sour dough though it looks pretty good for white flour, wouldn't be something I'd choose. But yeah, apples!!!! Fruit is a big deal for me and it can be expensive but I look at junk food and realize that fruit is often much less per ounce and has so much more nutrition as well as being a source of hydration. Hmmm, you may not have wanted supper because Carson is pretty high too. Dunno. Yeah, my son has trouble finding pants with a small enough waist for him too. Good thing you found some, even at the dreaded WalMart! I like how you explain how and why you do things.

Good deal. 2 simple jobs that made a big impact. I'm amazed by how often people feel that watching 👀 someone's videos entitles them to assign the maker tasks. Weird.

Lots to think about. Great explanation and the details are especially helpful - the pour spout in particular. Oy! I do hope you get enough use from it to make it pay for itself and in the meantime, your propane will last a little longer, so that goes toward recouping the cost too. One thing about you not recommending it is that you are REALLY careful with your things and not everyone is able to be. Another good one.
9
Hooray for great coffee! The sound od the rain made a nice background!
9
I like the way you do repair videos - you cover how you did it, how and why you chose that method and what the cost was. Some things are worth spending a bit more for and some things are not - and that's ok. Hope you can stay warm and keep the water flowing.

It was a lovely video Scott. Her glassworks are wonderful & that meal looked delicious. Yes it is difficult to accept gifts when reciprocating is a challenge. Perhaps take a bag of beans or a special ingredient. You'll think of something appropriate. Have a nice weekend.

Static but still flexible. I really enjoy your channel - and while it's not a lifestyle that would work for me (caregiver, full time) I enjoy traveling with you. The hikes along the ocean, the home made food, the stuff you learn as you go and of course the coffee. You make the decisions that work for you and it's not our place to direct you. By the way - you've got me on the hunt for lighter roast decaf for my hubby, so thank you.

What a gorgeous beach! I've not been to it but have seen many videos and photos. Lovely. Your Mac & Cheese looked great!
8
Yeah, there are a few nomads who might be discreet enough to go unoticed but a closer look would give them away. I think it was you who mentioned that cops can always tell. The key is that you don't give people a reason to call them on you. You are clean, tidy & quiet & as a homeowner that's all I want.
7
That duvet cover is perfect in there! Great choice.
7
You went out looking for good things, good people and good experiences - and you FOUND them. If you'd expected grumpy people, a bad day and crappy food, that's what you would have found. I really enjoy your channel because you do look for the best. And MOST of the time, you find it. I try to back off from negatives and it really helps to find the good stuff. Here's to good coffee!!! Cheers.
7
Beautiful locations! You made excellent choices. Thanks for taking us along.
7
It's windy here too, but not too bad. Great job on the sorting! That's never easy. Each thing I get rid of, leads to more peace and easier finding of the things I need.
6
Oh wow! I had no idea you could make one so simply. Fantastic. Even in sticks & bricks dwellers can benefit from your idea. I too am a fan of shopping locally- it's not always cheaper but supports local economy.
6
I like the way you think things through. It's nice to hear you reason things out. In van life,it seems there are as many ways to resolve issues as there are people & that's OK.
6
We talked about coming down your way this week- the zoo is free for seniors this month. But 5 hours round trip is too much for us to do in a day plus walk around the zoo too. We'd be exhausted. Good self restraint on the shopping list. 🛍

I grew up in So Cal & had nosebleeds pretty often due to dryness. Living in Memphis was a horror. The humidity was bad, the mold spore count was worse. They actually have a really high percentage of ENT docs per capita than other places I've lived. So it could be either the high humidity or allergies. I am allergic to mold. I can hear your congestion. Feel better Scott! I've been watching your videos long enough to know that if you were as miserable as some folks insist that you must be, you'd have made changes. You have hassles, who doesn't, but you have freedoms most do not. People who can't see that aren't looking.
6
You are buying an entire bag for the price of a single latte & wasting much less water. I saw that at least the Guatemala beans were single origin rather than a blend - my preference for several reasons. I don't shop much but do like Grocery Outlet for the variety of organic options & prices plus the nice staff.
6
Certainly seems that the floor vents are the most logical! Well done. Logic rules.
6
Good idea to balance your budget and prevent any food waste. Not really a big sacrifice & well worth the treat. It's good to enjoy life a bit now & then.
6
I think you're right - at least up north, the extra moisture in the air is nicer for a lot of thing. And so is the ability to get nicer things like organic coffee and such. But I also love the desert. One of the things that makes CA great is the variety. Enjoy.

Bacon tacos? Darn, that's genius! I make corn torts but didn't want to add the fat needed to keep flour torts soft & flexible. Well done -yours looked great!
5
If it cools you enough so you can sleep, it is worth every penny! Being tiny is a benefit too. Sounds like a win with the current it draws also - bonus!
5
You are absolutely right - the more color, the more nutrients. Plus a pretty meal whets the appetite and makes you want to eat it. I love cumin for a real mexican flavor. Taco Tuesday!!!! I really like the red bell peppers and the yellow ones. Yum. Tacos are a wonderful food.

Sunday 3/6 as I'm watching this. We got quite a bit of rain yesterday here in Yucca Valley and it hit freezing weather last night/early this morning. But the sky is now clearing at almost 7am, so I'm hoping for a little nicer day. Not quite as windy as yesterday either. Wherever you go, I know you'll find something cool.
5
It's cool that you talk about the challenges as well as showing the best parts. You don't complain but do tell both sides.
5
Happy Anniversary! Yeah, I do see that you're happy with your van. You MUST get better mileage than a full sized one and it's certainly easy to park. It's plainness enables you to park in places a bigger vehicle might not fit or might draw attention. It suits you because while not fancy, you have all your needs met and it's reliable. I'd suggest that your newer fridge/freezer combo has paid for itself in savings. When you were up North, it seemed that you were buying coffee and meals out much more often but cooking your own meals allows for more veggie intake and control over what's on your plate. So all in all, it seems like it's right for you. I don't think there's an inch of unused space really - everything you need fits. Happy Travels. It was almost 90 here in Yucca Valley today and while my phone said 9%, it felt muggy and 'thick'. Ugh.

You have terrific problem solving skills. Well done. Even with the time you put into both research & installation, you came out ahead with the added bonus of really convenient placement. Cool.
4
Good ingredients, crafted to suit your tastes- had to be good!
4
I can see why you love the PNW - you find such beautiful spots. Chores are more pleasant when done in a pretty place.
4
Yup, they are much more efficient in dry climates. Your point about having it directly on you is well made - in your van, that should be pretty easy to do. Also interesting observation about the water heater - good to know. That makes sense really - making things hot is expensive, so limiting it's use makes sense. Be well.
4
Home made food for the win. Suiting your recipe to your own preference and what your body needs. I like the flavor of halapeno but not so much the heat so tend to keep a chili or 2 in my freezer and cut tiny pieces of it for some dishes. And mushroom, garlic, onion. My point is that it is an easy dish to throw together and customize to our individual tastes. Oh, we tend to grate fresh carrots and add them to almost any 'casserole' type dish - it adds moisture and nutrition in meals where getting veggies is lacking. Again - customized to our preference, just as you did and they aree both great bowls of deliciousness!!! Scott, it's a real treat to see you sorting out the how and why of the build. Taking the time now to figure all the advantages vs pitfalls is a great way to manage. One step at a time.
4
Good improvements! Getting rid of unused items is good = helps you find the items you DO use in a more timely manner and less clutter makes a home (to me) more relaxing. I've been doing that too - not daily but regularly going through a cupboard or drawer and donating what I can, organizing the rest. It helps and cleaning is easier too. The sleeping bag though, could save your life if you get into a cold snap. But something so big is a challenge. The key is to make your home suit you and it seems that's what you're doing! Perfect.
4
Good for you. That's very clever and budget friendly. In this case, that is also planet friendly. So I hope you find a great one for a budget price and that it holds up for years.
4
Yes! Mendocino is gorgeous! WAIT - WHAT? You like coffee?😅 Me too! ☕
4
Love this. Safe travels. Its HOT up here or I'd invite you to moochdock. But if you get anywhere near Yucca Valley & need a shower or laundry, you are more than welcome.
4
I think I found your channel when you still lived up there. Maybe. But whenever it was, I'm glad that happened. It is LOVELY up there. Glad you got a new mattress on your new bed, better sleep makes a better life.

When we lived at the beach, we hiked along the ocean from Huntington Beach to Hermosa at different times. The yellow smog looking stuff seemed to happen in winter. I don't know, the winds blow everything out to see sometimes but don't usually leave clouds onshore. So I don't know. We used to explore one particular cave in Palos Verdes and that was cool. Funny, I love California as much as you do and seeing more of it in retirement, was one of my goals. Then life changed and so we sit here in the High Desert and that's okay too. We're still alive and have a home, food, heat. It's all good, eh?
4
We live in a good sized house but it has a minuscule kitchen, so anything we look at, we must think about space and what will go out in order for that new thing to come in. Once we got the hang on it, not so bad. i have a steel pan like that and moved it into my camping gear because I wasn't sure how to season it. I'll look into trying it inside! Thanks so much. Your new cooktop is fantastic. It fits your space and has a really good flame. Well done.
4
We got one of those after Jamie recommended it (Enigmatic Nomadic). No I will look for the folding solar panel too. Thank you.
4
Great explanations Scott.
4
Really clever! Gonna look into this!
4
Oooh, Scott! That meat made me want to do that with a pork roast. That would be great for quick meals. Thanks for the idea. And you buy local coffee, just don't always get it drunk up before it's time to ,move. I think all the vendors still appreciate not only the business but the shout outs too.
4
Very productive day! I hope the new lenses work out & eliminate the headaches.
4
Love that park. Good luck with the battery issues.
4
My main comment is that by choosing the beans you can control the quality. Dang that asse.bly is well worth the tiny space it will take! Awesome.
4
Wow! 2 years for $45? Compare that to the $ & landfill impact of bottled water! Even our Zero filter is more than that: a LOT! And it looks like you saved a lot on the container too. Great video Scott. Thank you. Your research & attention to detail is really important.
4
You know I love Joshua Tree Coffee, but my husband has to do decaf and theirs is only available in dark roast. So I'm going to do a hunt for a lighter roast for him. Like you, I want organic and fair trade as well. So glad for the info. I think you're wise to give it a fair try. Speaking of meals, time to go make his breakfast. Good to see you in such a pretty place and yes, the frogs sound lovely. Really delightful.
