So pretty up there! Just the king about the giant jug of vinegar and balancing cost, plastic and space- it's a battle isn't it? You do really juggling those things, reducing waste & cost but still eating healthy foods.
3
Yup. Features sound good but you listed how those features benefit your life & thats what people really want to know.
3
Oy, what an annoying issue but hooray for solving it. Especially since your solution was already in the planning stages. Sometimes time with good friends is worth some hassle. Enjoy - sure is gorgeous up there.
3
Yeah, the beach heals us. The sounds of the waves & the gulls along with the sun glinting on the water soothe in a way other thjngs cannot! Nice supper - gotta love a good burrito.
3
@StaticCamperVan My preference is an Ethiopian bean as well. I looked at Grocery Outlet near me but no luck. I do get a great Ethiopian from a local roaster and love it. But its pricey: $16 for 12 oz. Luckily we drink our coffee black so don't need it as strong, so it goes farther. Like everyone I enjoy your coffee chats & general philosophy.

Oh I gotta look for those motion lights for my back steps - thank you!! I'll go tomorrow. We have a Harbor Freight here in yucca valley of course and I've found them to be decent to deal with. Yeah, eating a better balanced diet may help with the altitude icks. we were at 9200 in Divide Colorado recently and after the first day, adjusted ok, but we live at 3500 so perhaps that makes it easier than when we lived in Long Beach at about 150 ft above sea level! LOL. I hope you feel better and enjoy your stay.
3
Happy New Year to you too Scott! And thank you for taking us along to such lovely places. I enjoy the beauty of the view, the sounds of nature and your peaceful way of expressing your love for these places too. Best wishes for finding the best possible deal on a reliable, affordable, van of just the right size and shape for your needs.
3
Well, for a guy who says he's not good at this stuff, it certainly seems that you designed, built and reorganized your game of tetris - oh, I mean your house. :D Hooray for more flexibility with your space beneath and for your better support. I hope you made a cup of coffee for the road.
3
Hey Scott - hope all is well with you and your van.
3
So yeah, I think you're more able to control what you eat when you make things yourself. For some folks that's no big deal but when we have health issues, controlling intake is critical. You've done a great job of fixing the van to suit yourself and it's the perfect setup for your life.
3
Good thinking Scorr. Safety first-

We had snow this week in Yucca Valley! All gone within hours of course but it all soaked in. Within a short time the sun was back out and it's chilly for SoCal but beautiful! So glad you got outside a bit.
3
Good coffee, cooler weather, water and nice meals - can't beat that.
3
Wow, lots of good stuff here. Great video!
3
@StaticCamperVan Thank you Scott. I'll know to look for them. All the social media have begun choosing for me who I can see and in some cases, replacing them with strangers with whom I have nothing in common. Ugh.
3
Pizza is good so many ways! Great idea to make your own oven.
3
9.43 am, 94F here, a little balance would be nice! I looked up the taillight thing and yes, you'd get a 'fixit' ticket in most states including here in CA. Only having one of two might let you off, but next time you're in a city, I'd urge you to pick one up. Lattes are so good. I like both flat and fluffy ones. But I had some cow milk in my coffee the other day and paid for it. Plant milk for me. You're right about oat milk being creamier.
3
WOW, what a beautiful day!!!! I really enjoyed this video. Thank you. You're wise to walk a road before you drive it when you don't have 4WD or a winch and such.
3
Yeah, that smoke is AWFUL!!! Your lungs must be ticked off at you. But what a great place. So pretty. Wow, what a shame about the smoke - not only blocking the view but filling your lungs, eyes and nose with ash!!!!!! :( Here's to a westerly wind.
3
Sunset over the ocean is a delightful thing indeed. That is a great area.
3
"there is no bad weather, only the wrong clothing" I guess that included shoes too! :D That area does look like your sort of place. Very nice indeed.
3
Scott, I realize that I have no idea what your skill set or area of interest is but Creativity RV left a few videos on her channel about working from home at your own pace Might be worth a look. You are obviously bright & articulate so could do proofreading or other editing. Good luck!
3
Yeah, later in life I learned that wheat and almost any milk products don't like me. So I make my own tortillas too. I can (thank goodness eat a wee bit of cheese but only if it's high quality - vons makes an extra sharp white cheddar but we buy a big block and I don't think you could store it. I can eat spelt and rye without issue and they are good together. Eat what works for you and take care of your own health! No one is going to do it for you! You deserve quality food and no one is going to be as good to you as you can be. Thank goodness for oat and almond milk and on special occasions, lactose free frozen treats.
3
If you're taking a survey, I'm a fan of the coffee chats. I also love coffee and enjoy it several times a day, but not as much as you do. However, if I didn't, I'd just skip the ones with that label. Nice to see you Scott. It's late for me here so I'm on a small glass of white wine, so will probably doze off soon. Yeah, the weird lights are distracting but not terribly. The sound is excellent though so worth it.
3
What a beautiful place! I love spots that have enough greenery to give a senses of privacy yet still afford the camper some sun. Awesome. Had to giggle about Prescott being pronounced Press CUT! But you nailed it.
3
I made a mug of coffee earlier and looked to see if you were around - it's always fun to drink it with someone who appreciates it as I do! :D I hope all is well and that you're just having fun or recovering from too much peopling. Happy Thursday.
3
My grinder is electric but yes, stainless steel burrs, not blades, and has an adjustable grind as does yours. Very important to have freshly ground coffee right as you make it in order to get the most out of those magic beans. Given the price of other people's ready made espresso, you'll save enough in a couple of months to pay for it = guess you already have - and enjoy your coffee along with the process of making it more than you have done. Good for you. Sometimes an initial spendy item is well worth it in the long run. Ten years from now, you could still be using this nicely designed item. Enjoy! You deserve it.
3
I'm the opposite - if I wash my hair too often, my scalp gets try, so I'm at 1x a week for the best results. My point? No judgement - we must each do what works for us. I like the way you don't worry about 'stealth' but instead focus on not interfering with others. Oh man! You took us to some gorgeous places today - thank you. We began the day with smokey skies and that smell, but as I remained outside for quite a while. it cleared nicely. Oh, agree on the zoo thing, but that walkway was tempting to me.

Cool upgrades. It sucks when we have to learn a new skill every time we do stuff, but that seems to be the nature of DIY tasks! I think you'll be happy with the results of your changes though.
2
Wow, really cool. I can see why you like it so much but wish there was a way to get more sunshine. Good price on that coffee. I prefer a light roast too, but single origin works best for me. Enjoy!
2
It's really nice to see you happier tgan when you were working. You seem more relaxed and have time to enjoy life more.
2
That was super cute. Her van is very nicely laid out and I like her stickers too. Thanks for the giggle.
2
Finding a good coffee is a marvelous thing. I'm happy for you.
2
As a grandmother myself, I am echoing the comments of how lucky you are to still have an obviously loving one and how happy she must be to have you visit for a while. i was searching for your water filter until you changed angles. How cool that you don't need it anymore - it's HUGE. Looking good. I like the stainless shelf because you can wipe it out easily now and then and with the tall wall, things won't have to be tied down
2
Dude! you have the most gorgeous back yards! Great coffee and beautiful places - I know it's not all bliss, but it's a pretty nice way to live. Just dlightful. I have noticed that decaf (even organic) seems to have more oils. Not greasy like some bans but higher oil content than the light roast. (Just thinking) What a beautiful place in which to cool off. This is a very lovely video.
2
You make a GREAT point! Well done bringing up the individuality each person can build into their homes on wheels!
2
Not a bad place for a sunset, eh? I think I'd like a nice hot mug of something special - tea, coffee, cocoa? to sit and watch the water, the sunset and the sparkling water. And of COURSE the rocks. Puts me in mind of Palos Verde but of course different because the coast is different everywhere. Good decision on the alternator power thing; as little as you drive, it seems like a waste. I hope you find a sunny place in which to continue making coffee and taking walks.
2
For some reason this got me thinking of Arlo Guthrie's "Alice's Restaurant" and how he compared being a litterbug to the other horrors humans get up to. Yes, you are good at choosing nice areas but not so fancy that they resent visitors. Another nice one.
2
Great advice: if you aren't comfortable with propane in your van, don't use it.
2
Contentment is underrated but so very worthy of appreciation.
2
Step 1, great beans. 2, the right grind. 3n clean water (we use a Zero filter) at the right temperature. 4) time water & fresh beans are in contact. 5) a good, clean mug. For me: thats a stainless REI travel mug. This was excellent, thank you. Cheers.
2
Fingers crossed for good test results. I was planning a trip up 395 but since the forests are closed postponed until spring if possible.
2
Oh gosh, yes, water and perhaps a sandwich and some fruit or whatever and a thermos of coffee. But it could have been so much worse! And just about any reason to go to eureka is a good one. Seems you put your trust in the right dealership.
2
oh wow - good review. It's amazing how much ick is in city water and of course you're accessing multiple types of water sources. Your simple solution appears to work well.
2
I had switched to decaf because of getting the jitters & having anxiety issues but didn't really like it. Then after learning that the USDA allows a percentage of mold to be included & that as beans sit around waiting to be roasted as a blend, mold is a normal result. Groundwork became my "go to" because it's single origin & thus roasted before mold can grow. From that point forward, coffee has not been an issue.
2
A step forward! You can find it anywhere. While I'm a fan of nomads being able to support themselves, it's hard to respect a recommendation from someone who clearly doesn't use or appreciate the product. You recommend items that you've used, liked, enjoyed. You shop mindfully, for price, convenience, trustworthiness and of course for space. I respect you for that. Hey, I woke up to 71F here in the High Desert of So Cal and grabbed a blanket. So lovely. Yesterday maxed out at 85 F = what a treat. Happy upcoming Autumn.
2
Wow! Congratulations on being able to get closer - you got great scenery! Bummer about the coffee though. You chose a lovely little town.
2
@StaticCamperVan thanks. I'll keep an eye out.
2
Just a side note - today, 4/18 - I got a 12 oz package of sustainably grown, high elevation, organic, single origin, beans from Peru today at Aldi for $5.99. I haven't tried it yet but it smells great = it is however, a medium roast, but does not smell burned at all. Brand name: Simply Nature.
2
Gotta love tech speeding forward with .ore efficient design. As you say, a lot of power is packed in that compact design.
