I know I'm WAY south and it's warming up but our driveway, water and power will always be available to you, should you need them - or my sewing machine!   11. Well for living with minimal moving and budget, you certainly share some amazing places with us. Oh, Joshua Tree Mellow Ethiopian here. Hubs unfortunately is now on their Delicious Decaf. Our Left (Best) Coast has so very much to offer - mountains, beaches, forests, deserts, cities, country, crowds & isolation. I think you chose well and even when you're in an area for a while, it's never boring because you do and show and discuss interesting things. I've been subscribed for a number of years - when you were static in WA and traveling on weekends only and have stuck around because your videos are great. A tip of my mug to you! Cheers. Oh, PS, based on your previous reviews and my lactose intolerance, I've gotten into Oatly in my coffee and you are right - it's really creamy and delicious. Almond milk curdles if the coffee is strong. Thank you for all your hard work Scott.

  14. We don't do Walmart but there are 2 bakeries. Boo's Organic Oven in Joshua Tree as a lovely multi grain sourdough that I can eat (flour, starter, seeds, water) for a good price. Luna Bakery is in Yucca Valley and their sourdough looks good for $2 more & they make a lovely gf almond cookie that is a nice treat once in a while. It's hard to have to be a detective in order to eat.

  17. Well said. You are a grown human, fully capable of determining your own lifestyle. And if you had a sticks & bricks home, you wouldn't have been able to have the summer of beaches. You would have had to stay & care for it & work to pay for it. I know that making videos is work too, but being your own boss is nice sometimes.

  18. Sounds like Darwin! :D Perhaps you'll find a balance between over doing it and not enough. Good news on getting rid of the mouse. The last place we lived (Long Beach, CA) our townhouse was on the alley, as were everyone's trash. Needless to say, we got mice. One year it was over a dozen. I just went to the nearest hardware store and got the cheap wood ones. Peanut butter was our best bait. We tried the live trap with no luck. Like you, the sticky traps sound horrid, Poison is a no go because not only will they crawl into your walls to die and stink the joint up, but if an owl or cat or whatever, eats them, it's a nightmare. But the cheap wood ones always resulted in quick painless endings to the problem. Here in Yucca Valley, we haven't had any - there are almost a dozen cats wandering who travel the neighborhood and none of us have had either rats or mice. I call that a suxcess.

  19. Yeah, for many reasons, I am VERY particular about my coffee. Mislabeled coffee is a bummer. It's a bit like scotch labeled as a single malt Islay aged in a sherry cask for 18 years and it tastes like Scorsby blended 2 year old. No wonder everyone has to load it up with syrups and whipping cream.

  26. Beautiful photography. My favorite is the very last scene. The co-op & the coffee shop looked terrific as well. Our favorite coffee locally is organic, sustainably grown & locally roasted as well as delicious. Our favorite cafe serves it (as do most of the locally owned restaurants in the area) Andrew can get grass fed organic beef there too. We do it about once a month as a treat. Nice video!

  27. Good shoes are a worthwhile investment. We have to go down there for a specialist for hubs but we turn around & head back right away. Last time we came up old 395 & found food in a little farm stand outside Temecula I think. Now we'll make certain to do that. Mendocino seems nice & if you can get a good signal, why not? FYI: I almost always watch to the end.

  36. Yeah, as a long term consumer of social media, I go to different channels for different topics. I don't come to you for knitting tips and I don't go to a knitting channel to learn about cabin building or gardening. I love your channel - coffee, camping of a sort, peace, beautiful places, travel in the west and even budgeting. Lots of weirdness happening on all of it these days - real friends disappear and then they ask if I want to see more total strangers. Uh, no, I want the people I follow. I dunno - maybe it's a plot to get us back outside.

  38. Oh, you haven't taken us to Ferndale for quite a while. That was fun, thank you. It's lovely to see all the forest near the ocean, but also that sweet main street. And buying groceries without spending money in those monopolies is even better. You chose one of my favorite flavors. My body doesn't like cow milk so I've found a brand of oat ice cream that is very good. Yesterday I added a few frozen dark cherries. Mmmmmmmmm. A drop or 2 of almond extract would have been a lovely addition too. I think you're wise to listen to your body and feed it what doesn't hurt. Hopefully it will improve for you soon. Best.

  39. We are in yucca valley. Usually 10 degrees or more lower temp than down the hill where you were. If you get up here at all don't hesitate to ask if you need anything. Is there dispersed camping at Idyllwild? Thats cooler & really pretty too.

I agree with all that you said - knowing what you like is key, so when I first learned about that sort of thing, I drank coffee in quite a few coffee houses in Long Beach and Venice Beach - I compared dark to light and the flavors of each. Some gave me the shakes and an unpleasant reaction but when I found single origin, that stopped. So good beans are worth the extra expense and never again, will I buy cheap coffee. Some of that is based on how much I like it and some is based on how my auto immune issues react to things. It is nice to hear what's important to you and how you determine what you want to try. Thanks for the input.

  48. I love to do that. In spite of having a reasonable kitchen, sometimes I just want a snack for one person, so will put things together in a similar way. That looks terrific, thanks for the ideas. And I too giggled at you 'cleaning up' the same way I would. Next time I'm down in a city, I'll pop by Trader Joes - thanks for the idea.

  50. Yeah, U-Haul has always treated us right for propane. I used them in MN, TN, Long Beach, CA, San Gabriel Valley, CA and now in Yucca Valley, CA. Seems like a good cross check of quality and they are usually very nice with competitive pricing. I call that good. Glad they were good to you too. Well done. Isn't it cool how productive we feel when we check little things off our list? But dang, if you left it and then had to fix it in the dark or someplace sketchy, cold, whatever, it wouldn't have been as good. Rushing leads to mistakes. Nice to see you again Scott.
