Happy travels!

Oat milk is creamier than my usual almond milk so I like if for a latte. McDs; yes, it is bitter & mostly I like to drink coffee black so it doesn't work for me. One benefit of living up here in Yucca Valley is easy access to Joshua Tree Coffee. Mellow Ethiopian is my bean of choice. Cheers. ☕

Freat job on the tortillas. Simple food is good for us & homemade is best!

It's cool to know that you have chosen SD for your home - for now anyway.
1
that.! It really poured all day with high winds and flood warnings!

Such a beautiful area and it's nice to get a good price on a high quality item. That pan will last probably the rest of your life so what's that add up to? 5 bucks a year? I'd call that a bargain. We have a giant wok by staub - got it almost 20 years ago and have had zero difficulty.
1
@StaticCamperVan Smart. The aggravation and even damage that prevents is worth the walk.
1
@StaticCamperVan Yeah - you've had some food related issues and so have I. We are smart enough to focus on what works and stick to that. I respect your choices even though they'd not work for me. But no matter how good a croissant tastes, it's rarely worth the misery.

Your video was a beautiful way to begin my day. Thank you.

Hooray!! Ir's going to be quite nice once you have a chance to live with it and think things over. Don't know if this will work for you but one guy cut yoga mats to fit and made indentations in which to glue small magnets. But the moving blankets make sense and should block heat / cold. whooohooooo.

As you may know, we're in Yucca Valley, just west of Joshua Tree Village. Elevation is 3500' and it snowed here yesterday (Friday, Mar 12) too - although it didn't stick at all and only came down for about an hour. For me, that's perfect. Today is sunny and lovely - cool, but nice.

@StaticCamperVan It's the 3rd time this year. Twice last year but usually only stays a couple of days. This one melted before it hit the ground. One of the things we love about living here is that while pretty mild, we do get an actual winter but can go the rest of our lives without a snow shovel! Summer can get pretty hot but usually not for too long at a time. Plus, you know, a NP for a back yard is a good thing too.

I cut my own hair but yes, curly hair requires a better barber. Good choice.
1
We have a rental car atm and I got home with a migraine. Whatever is in it, my system dislikes. Environmental exposure can certainly contribute to headache, fatigue and even gastrointestinal distress. I hope it's not the new pillow- it is difficult to air them out when living in a tiny home, but if you get someplace less windy, border clips make good clothespins.

It is interesting how soothing the sound of running water is, yet it sounds a lot like highway noise with aggravates me. Perhaps that's silly - knowing the cause of a noise shouldn't change it's impact on me, yet it does. Yes, we like leaner beef, seems a waste to throw out the fat since I don't like to cook with it. I hope you find some sun.

Your videos are always a pleasure and I must admit to coffee shop envy!
1
Oh my, yes! What logely places to hike! Cool. *video powered by fresh pour over coffee!

My goodness, it has been a very long time since I've been up there so thank you for taking us along. Beautiful!! If you get bak down here anytime, let me know and I'll have a bag of Joshua Tree Coffee on hold for you to pick up. It's a light roast, single origin, orgainic, fair trade, locally roasted bag of deliciousness. I get a local discount and would love to treat you if you'd like to give it a try and you wouldn't have to be around a lot of people. Just go into the patio to the table and tell them there is a bag on hold for you. AFTER telling me so I can order it for you. I'm pretty sure you'll like it.
1
@StaticCamperVan Regardless, the offer holds. Just as a thank you for all the wonderful videos. Happy Travels.

I have the same issue with corn torts so made 'enchilada casserole' too. Simple, easy, delish! I love veggies so mine had onion, peppers, olives, mushrooms and some leftover turkey along with the cheese but that's the joy of home made - you can adjust almost anything to suit your own taste. I'm going to try your sauce - simple and easy and always on hand! Perfect. Thanks. Oh - by the way, your hair looks like you're anticipating spring or summer or something. Nothing wrong with that! It looks fine, just shorter than your usual.
1
Hearty food for cool weather is always good. We do our pasta that way too. Wastes less water & gas.
1
What a shame! Too bad. Good idea to head toward the coast. Hope you're feeling better once fed & cooler.
1
Gosh, it REALLY is lovely there! Wow. Yeah, good job on the haircut Scott - no sense wasting water (and shampoo) on hair you don't really want. Whooo, that was windy! Bungee cords are a camper's friend, eh? I also used them for tarps on rainy days in Tennessee and that area.

Here in Yucca Valley, I have about enough beans for today and tomorrow morning so I'm on the hunt too but it's pouring rain and people drive too fast for this old driver. Today is hubby's 79th birthday so I'm making enchiladas (turkey) and sides plus a cherry pie. I'd invite you but the commute might be a bit much. We steam our tortillas over the food that's going into them. But I did like doing it over the flame. I think someone needs to invent car fresheners or perfume that smells like roasting coffee! :D Flying Goats is a fabulous name! Yes, buying high quality products - coffee or clothing - saves money because things last longer and don't end up in the land fill or thrift stores. So glad you're enjoying your visit.
1
Goodness! yeah, I hope it was bad gasoline and it will heal. Fingers crossed for you. Yes, Oregon is a gorgeous state. Enjoy the time there. Soy in eggs? Oh dear. I need to look into that because soy is on my 'naughty' list. Here's hoping that your time with your mechanic friend will have time for some laughs and not all be work. Best to you and your van.
1
You're making conservative choices - conserving gas, your van and your stress. Seems wise to me. I see people here running their vehicles in parking lots while they wait for someone to go inside. Insane. Oh well. Enjoy your coffee.
1
yeah, we put a mini split into my son's room and it was obscenely expensive compared to the price we'd been quoted a couple of years ago. Corporate greed. :( I'm glad you are warm and safe.
1
Gosh, yeah, that would freak me out too! I think moving was wise because if someone heard the shouting and called the police, you would have had another wake up. Imagine that guy's excitement when he vf realized that the doors were unlocked and how shocked he was at having his 'easy' thievery spoiled! He was hoping for a laptop or phone for a quick resell or maybe even to hot wire the van itself. Instead he got an earful. Lol - kind of makes me hope he is rethinking his career choices.
1
I hope all is well.
1
Good for you! Especially after the 2 years of avoiding contact its especially difficult to reach out for actual human contact but when well chosen, can be quite rewarding. You made excellent choices both times. Then you have your quiet space in which to recharge. Sarahs photos are excellent & very much captured your personality.
1
It seems that each Nomad has their own point of view - just as each homeowner has theirs. But you are able to work enough to support your gas and coffee habit yet still have time to hike and enjoy the places in which you travel. Your van is big enough for you and that's who you need to please. Plus you have the ability to extend the back doors to make an outdoor shower, so it's expandable. Perfect.
1
@StaticCamperVan I have them turned on for your channel but YouTube. I'm going to see if leaving even a short comment changes that. But knowing when to look will help too.
1
So you had to give up both the cement jungle AND the desert?? What a shame to be stuck in cool air, with water and beautiful trees and quietness??? : LOL - so happy for you.
1
@StaticCamperVan Thank you for the answers. I'm so glad you didn't get sick from the soy sauce.
1
Good choice to stop by the lake! Seems like a better elevation for you - a nice balance between cooler temperatures & too high. And it's pretty.
1
Yup - no need to think "long term" when the van will be gone and chances are that if it's sold to a fixit kinda person, they'll go over everything anyway. You gotta do what works for you. Yay for coffee.
1
You explained it really well. Healthy food is a bit different from one human to the next and that's okay. You do remarkably well on a budget and in your confined space and if it makes you feel well, then it's healthy for you. Cheers.
1
By the way, we now have a Grocery Outlet - affectionately known as Gross Out! it is right on that corner, you'd pass it going to Sue's. With all that wind, it must have been Monday. Brrrr. Oh, ethiopian coffee is usually single origin which means it didn't sit around waiting for other beans and so it is not as moldy. That's why I prefer it. @JTCoffee has a couple of single origin beans, so you may want to check that out.
1
Wow. I had no idea about the link issues. Sounds as though that makes me lucky. You have great viewers so hopefully one of their ideas will help you solve the problem.

I hope you all had a great time!
