  12.  @WAEVOICE  That depends on how one defines "active shooter." All anyone knew was that Rittenhouse had shot someone and was escaping. Even one of the militiamen (for lack of a better term) said that Anthony Huber died as a very brave hero. The fact is that those few minutes were understandable for all sides. In the first moment, when Joseph Rosenbaum attacked, I would have fired too. Although Rittenhouse should not have been there in the first place, it was all Rosenbaum's fault. He was an apolitical mentally ill loose cannon (and a pervert) who went off his meds and drifted into the protest zone (despite his fiancée telling him not to [Note that while she knew that he had served time, she did not know the details of why.]). He then did things like yelling anti-Black slurs {at white people!), which disturbed the other protesters. In fact, Huber is seen restraining Rosenbaum at one moment. Rosenbaum was on the loose later, and the rest is history. Note that Rittenhouse has since hung out with Proud Boys and associated himself with other racists & fascists, so perhaps his pursuers were on to something.

  13.  @lordec911  This whole thing happened in the space of a few seconds. Grosskreutz wasn't sure what happened at first. For one thing, I wouldn't trust someone who had been among the militiamen and was accused of shooting someone, also, Grosskreutz thought that he said, "I'm working with the police." Gaige dropped back at that point, and among other things was clearly unwilling to shoot someone in the back. The group pursued Kyle because they heard the shots and heard that Kyle had just shot someone. I would infer in that situation that a guy who had been among the militiamen had shot one of my comrades, in common with other violence (car attacks, guns) inflicted in recent protests that summer, and others going back a few years. Gaige drew his weapon because it looked like there was about to be another shooting. Seconds later, Rittenhouse appeared to be re-racking his rifle, and thus was not accepting Gaige's surrender.

  17. To the extent that that's even true, it will still harm consumers. Tariffs are backward, and retaliatory tariffs don't help. Countries should drop them, unilaterally. Singapore did it. Just because your trade partner puts rocks in its harbor, thus making trade more difficult, that doesn't mean that you should do the same.
