That's why rocket engines are shaped like hourglasses: there's a principle of fluid dynamics called "choked flow" that causes gasses and liquids to speed up when the opening narrows.

  17. Have you watched 2001? I know it's more boring than watching paint dry, but you should sometime. Not only does it not resemble the Apollo footage in literally any way, Kubrick DOESN'T EVEN TRY to simulate low gravity during the moon sequence. They shuffle their feet like they need lead boots to stay grounded because he can't simulate the low gravity realistically.

For reference, it's on the MESA, a drop-down equipment storage panel on the lower half of the ship that can be opened from inside. You can find pictures of the camera sitting in the holder.

There's a form of controlled demolition where you knock out the support pillars on one floor with hammers and let the building crush itself under its own weight. I forget what it's called, but it has a french name and I think it started with a V. Once the one floor collapses, the building comes down on its own "at freefall speed in its own footprint" looking exactly like the towers - no explosives or nanothermite or mininukes or Israeli space lasers needed. There's absolutely no reason that that couldn't happen with another building where one floor collapsed.

  30.  @vilikatavuki5518  No, it wouldn't. Lower gravity only means it will fall slower and it's not that much. 1/6 gravity would cause an object to fall at ~2.46 times that of Earth (falling speed uses square root). You need AIR to keep a cloud aloft. Otherwise, there's nothing holding it up.

  35.  @laylow597  Also the trick doesn't actually work. The minimum speed to stay in orbit and not come back down to Earth is over 17,000 miles per hour. That's much, much faster than the Earth's rotation, and during the 12-15 minute long clips Bart uses, they would have crossed between 1/8th and 1/6th of the entire planet. If the astronauts were actually in orbit, the clouds and landmasses that can be clearly seen when the camera is zoomed in would be moving and we'd see entire oceans and continents move past the window. If you want to see what this trick would actually look like go put an insert on the side window of your car. Either the astronauts are at least far away enough to be in geosynchronous orbit, which is inside the Van Allen Belts by the way, or that is not the Earth. Either way, Bart's wrong. Anyways, off to class. I'll be back later.

Even civilians not part of the project were able to guess that the Americans were building a bomb because all of the nuclear energy work suddenly stopped being published. Real question: do you think that after the bomb was used, the people in the Manhattan Project would not have figured out what they were working on for fifty years afterwards?

  42.  @007supertime  Hubble doesn't have the resolution. It's not large enough to see anything smaller than about a football field in width at that distance. Satellites were already used. You people immediately called them fake too. This includes both direct observation by the LRO and Japan creating perfect recreations of the photo backgrounds when converting their maps into 3D models.

Except that it wasn't the moon rock they were given. it was a completely unrelated rock that was ASSUMED to be a moon rock based on when it was received and donated without being appraised, despite not resembling any of the other actual gifts and despite being received a year before them. Why did God lie in the Bible?
