@Bacteriophagebs they share the same name, they are completely different designs.
3
@fortj3 The Hi-power ended production a year ago.
3
@Easy-Eight the fuel situation during the Guadalcanal campaign?🤔 they did risk heavy ships. But I think it's more a worry about American Air power. The Americans controlled the skies by the day. The Japanese would try and slip in during the night and land troops and supplies. They like to use destroyers because they could speed out of the slot? Or at least that's my impression.
3
That's one way to handle shoplifters.🛒
3
@yocapo32 a sawed-off Mosin Nagant? Seems like a uncontrollable Mess. The Russians were not exactly lacking in submachine guns for close work?
3
They had stuff like the fg-42 to use.
3
Good grief. 😮 That is a very complicated way to get from point A to point B engineering.
3
Yes, but that's a different gun.
3
🤔 Definitely not items I was thinking about. Do you think they'll be a collectible market for something like say, Para Ordnance pistols? Will there be someone who wants a Remington r51 in 20 years? What about all those Marine Corps M45A1 pistols? And most of all, will there be collector's interest in 40 Smith & Wesson? There's a ton of those guns now going out of production. Will people be looking to get an original say, Browning Hi- Power in .40 S&w? 🤔
3
@loquat44-40 trench warfare sort of a anomaly. And even the US Marine Corps flirted with them. As far as cold? Switzerland is never known as a warm spot. I don't think there's anything fundamentally hard about a straight pull in either cold or a trench.
3
Very simple. It's a different designation system for a sniper rifle. Everything is classified by its type. That's why you have an M1 helmet. That's why you have an M1 tank. Infantry rifle model M14. Versus sniper rifle model M21.
3
Of course you have to think of the time. It's still the time of the model 1892 and still the time of the police revolver.
3
Oh, I have one. Preferred Choice for winter carry. Also for people who don't have a size 34 waist anymore.
3
Next Olympics, Paris 2024.😏🇫🇷
3
The BDM? Got lost in Glock fever. No big police contract.
2
If only they guys spent time and effort not trying to do evil. 😒
2
@spikespa5208 Kind of a sore spot for this ex sailor.🙇🏽♂️
2
Military sidearm? You need to start thinking outside the box of Infantry. As shown with the other services going with the M18. Not a lot of rifle users in the Navy or US Air Force. You have many jobs such as Aviation and with crew-served weapons where a rifle is not appropriate.
2
You're thinking of the M11 pistol.
2
@SVsX-bm7ci On further review.... A more accurate explanation. 😎👍
2
It's annoying as hell. 😔
2
Where do you get working class? That's not Bond at all.
2
@hummerskickass The decision did not call for any repeal of the NFA. Nor did the decision say zero regulations.
2
There was a limited release of the M45 A1. I highly doubt you're going to see a flood of M9's.
2
Goofy gun , designed by a goofy country. You can't get a pizza in a 200 mi radius. But we can make a belt-fed machine gun with a grenade launcher? 🤔
2
Yep.
2
As a M-1 Carbine fan, I thank you!🙆🏽♂️ As for Mattel? Where is the Barbie edition rifle!🤷🏽♂️
2
Very common.
2
I was going to go for a Rogers and Hammerstein joke. But you beat me to it.
2
MP5 is a sub gun. This has a different role.
2
No kidding.
2
Because the gun was for the US Navy..... Thus the name. The Army and USN had different service rifles Circa 1900.
2
@lucajohnen6719 It was for civilian sales. They used up stock from the military contract left over.
2
The short answer? The fg-42 was designed for the paratroopers. And they were under the Luftwaffe. So it's not an army project.
2
@masonhaggerty186 Too expensive? Or perhaps you need a different income bracket? The market is what it is.
2
@marionette5968 That is so true..... I miss the early 1990's. Before every Tom, Dick and Harry discovered the Web.😪
2
Why would Marines be on deck in a storm? We just have a bunch of thrill seeking?
2
🙆🏽♂️ You beat me to it.... This must be where that whole phrase comes from?
2
I think it's safe to say, these will not go cheap?
2
@chrisf247 doesn't seem to be any serious difficulty.
2
Sigh... No. Typically this was a aftermarket conversion. Just not in this case.
2
@AlexA-vd7li why don't you Hamas cheerleaders find somewhere else to play?
2
@Justin-rq6kf I find that rarely the case.
2
@pctrashtalk2069 a thin stabilized projectile is the better way to go. Just like tanks use smoothbore guns and sabot rounds.
2
@fastmongrel many troops beyond officers were issued pistols over a rifle. You can't lug a mortar and a Garand.
2
@andrewthomas5495 The problem was these troops couldn't use a rifle. Drivers, mortar crew, machine gunner, radio man, etc. The needed to be hands free or 10 LBS was too much. So they got a pistol. The carbine was to replace the pistol; but never did.
2
It's not intended for general removal. You were to use stripper clips.
2
@commandobond apparently there's a company in Texas making new ones. Very pricey however.
2
Same designer. Dieudone Saive.
2
It's had its day. And the m45a1 was its last hurrah.
