@tomcollins5112 And your comment is relevant how?
146
@anacc3257 Did you get the memo that Modern English is an amalgamation of many, many ancient languages?
87
The UK has learned the hard way that no country economy is an island.
68
It means the Nigerien junta can no longer blame France. It's a national tragedy.
55
@josephineamawiafe9428 No one's poking the bear. The bear has left its cage and blundered into Ukraine -- that's the problem.
52
So, explain why Russia is at war. I'm waiting with bated breath.
50
The authoritarian instincts of the CCP are just too strong.
50
Each generation thinks it’s special. Nothing new under the sun.
49
Don't forget the spin-offs: Scexit and Nixit.
49
No one wants to say it aloud, but I think a lot of Trump voters will switch to Bernie.
44
There's a distinct difference. In the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, Russia promised to respect Ukraine's existing borders, which encompassed Crimea and Donbas. I suppose Russia's signature means nothing.
42
He'll be splattered by then.
40
True, but in other countries they are the norm.
40
Duh. If you're far-right, everyone else is leftist to you.
37
@supershayloman961 If you're referring to the ICC's arrest warrant for Putin, that one applies to way, way more than "the West". 124 countries are treaty-bound to arrest Putin if he sets foot on their soil. The fun part is that the arrest warrant applies to several BRICS countries and even Russia's CIS, CSTO and EEU partner Armenia. It's as if the Netherlands, for example, would arrest Macron should he pop over for a visit.
37
Aw. Were you planning on migrating to Finland?
36
@lovyrituraj Russia has a worldwide PR problem.
36
Even dictators need popular support. Even so, they quell dissent, like Erdogan has done, so "popular support" does not equal "democratic support".
36
@bojanveljovic559 A Serb trying to extract sympathy for a logical consequence of Serbia's past militarism. Pathetic.
35
@vwduiven3072 Rather, Finland's relationship with Russia has always been an uneasy one. We're taught from childhood to defend ourselves against an age-old enemy. No prizes for guessing which neighbour that is.
34
You've got it backwards. Serbia is in a similar position to Armenia here. Also with respect to Russia. No help forthcoming from that direction.
33
I'm surprised he didn't rename it Erdoganistan.
33
@nenadmitrovic3469 Actually, China landed massive mining concessions from Afghanistan while it was under Karzai and Ghani. Facts be damned, eh?
32
Do you have to be a vassal to one or the other? I thought Indian independence kicked in in 1947.
30
I should think they know about Putin already.
30
@MarkyMark2177 Please do.
29
@v_fencer It doesn't matter that the sample was taken before the Olympics. Trimetazidine has no short-term effects, but it may bring long-term benefits as in being able to train longer and harder.
29
In the grand scheme of things, it hasn't been a total disaster. Germany sold hundreds and hundreds of ex-Bundeswehr Leopard 2s to Poland and Finland. Although the Cold War ended, neither of these two front line states let their guard down, while Germany naively disarmed, assuming that it would soon be BFFs with Russia. Common sense prevailed, just not in Germany.
28
@yourharbour3450 Aren't you cute. The Serbs are the ethnic minority in Kosovo.
28
The Balts were never comfortable with Russian troops on their soil, period.
28
@cmcm142 The Banana Republicans are the problem here.
28
And Hungary would prefer to side with Russia instead of NATO.
27
@youknowme2003 I cited the Budapest Memorandum. Over to you, cite a treaty that forbade NATO from expanding. UNSCR 1244 refers to the territorial integrity of Yugoslavia. Where is this 'Yugoslavia' on the world map? Also, UNSCR 1244 set the stage for Kosovo's independence. Tell me more about your alleged NATO lies (the US doesn't come under my responsibility). Specifics, please -- no more vague accusations.
27
@wokeaf1337 What do they teach you in school nowadays? The former GDR was in the Eastern Bloc, but never in the Soviet Union.
27
Scotland as a whole has voiced aspirations of becoming a Nordic country. Norway footing the bill would be ideal.
26
Now I understand why Zuck gave up on fact-checking on Facebook. The expense, because of Trump alone, would've become prohibitive.
26
You're spot on. This whole episode is like a toxic relationship that has unravelled. Putin is the spurned lover, who's stalking and threatening Ukraine out of sheer rancour. No wonder Ukraine wants a restraining order from NATO.
26
@bhaashatepe5234 So, what you're saying is that Russia magnanimously saved the Baltic countries from Russia? In other words, the occupier decided to cease and desist and you expect the Balts to be eternally grateful?
26
@merlin5045 Unlike whataboutism, chronology is not your strong suit.
26
@JimKat5646 You can ask Russia how that's working out. Over there, supermarkets have to fit anti-theft devices on bars of butter.
25
What's keeping Finland from closing Russia's consulate in Åland? The last latent remnant of Finnlandisierung?
25
Let's be honest. The same people celebrating here will celebrate the next coup in Mali. Then they'll celebrate French troops re-entering Mali. Nothing ever changes.
24
It's worth noting that Eritrea was the only African country to cheer Putin's landgrabs in Ukraine. Then Mali, which has a military junta that is propped up by the Wagner Group, joined them. Birds of a feather flock together.
24
@narcopilehptique6341 They say every country has the government it deserves. Sadly, it applies especially to Russia. It's not like Putin only recently came to power in a KGB-engineered coup d'état. The Russians have tolerated and even enthusiastically supported him up for decades now.
24
These are anti-tank mines. Russia should not drive its tanks to Ukraine and everything's fine and dandy.
24
@webasto70 No we aren't, silly.
23
@peterwong4779 We've seen your Siberian teddy bear in action.
23
You can't deny that they've been right about Russia all along.
23
Interesting. Israel holds 2 million Palestinians hostage, while Hamas holds 200 Israelis.
23
It is also important to make the Chinese understand that the CCP was on the wrong side of history.
