This is just fanning the flames of revolution.

It is remarkable that Russia suffered yet another severe foreign policy setback with regard to its backyard, compounding the enduring one in Ukraine. Ukraine is lost to Russia forever, and now are both Armenia and Azerbaijan, too. It begs the question who's next to wriggle free from Russian overbearance.
22
He would've made an excellent Waffen-SS Oberst-Gruppenführer, I'm sure.
22
Iran is endearing itself further to its neighbours. The isolation wasn't deep enough, it seems.
22
You can falsify election results, but Covid-19 is a different kettle of fish.
22
There is poetic justice in it. The re-branded Bombardier CSeries, the Airbus 220, is a hit with operators. Boeing really screwed themselves over.
22
@GeeGee19 Congrats, you've got personality cult down pat.
21
@tweedy4sg Where exactly is the hypocrisy?
21
No biggie. Russia can choose between selling India dirt-cheap oil, or crying and selling India dirt-cheap oil. It's not like there's a queue forming at Russia's doorstep for oil, and it desperately needs the foreign currency, even if the effective exchange rate sucks to high heaven.
21
Sure, if you can't secure your own territory, someone else will come and secure it for you. This is not a new situation for Lebanon. Study history and all will be revealed.
21
@linmei4188 It's in the UN Charter that countries have the right to self-defence. You may always need someone to kowtow to -- be it a dictator or a party dictatorship -- but Ukraine clearly prefers freedom.
20
@southstar9931 Why would Sweden and Finland go at it alone, if practically unlimited reinforcements can be had? War is not cricket. You strike with overwhelming force.
20
@blolee-gc1sr So, you joined YouTube on Aug 20, 2023. Say no more.
20
@UkraineNeeds I'm afraid the Germans will turn this into an advantage as well, as future leaders in renewable energy and related technology. In the mean time, Russia becomes an agrarian society and reintroduces serfdom.
20
@Srt092 The VVD are best described as 'conservative-liberal'. This must be an oxymoron to the Americans, who've given 'liberal' a whole new meaning. Anyway, they seem to think 'republic' and 'democracy' are mutually exclusive, so what do they know.
20
You'd need their permission, like Jordan gave to the USA.
20
@Pointi69 A lot of EU countries have given money to Poland, and we've got no dark history with Poland. Seeing how the Polish economy has developed, it was a sound investment, too.
20
If I were California, I would start exploring Calexit.
20
@musaib34 Allah doesn't think much of human rights then.
20
Then there's Anatoly Sobchak, mentor to both Putin and Medvedev, who died of a heart attack in 2000. Questions arose when it became known that Sobchak's two bodyguards suffered heart attacks at the very same time. It must've been the first recorded case of mass heart attacks. Sourpusses suggested poisoning.
19
@richardboote2370 You don't seem to comprehend that the EU officials are duly mandated representatives of 27 nations and their peoples in Europe. If they suck, we all suck.
19
Jinga Randy Your extreme nationalism is getting the better of you.
19
I remember only too well how airports in Western Europe were overcome by the freak winter weather in 2010. At the time, Swedes were laughing at their inability to deal with a bit of snow -- much like you are now. A few years ago, Sweden was struck by raging forest fires. The Mediterraneans were wondering why no airtankers were used to put out the fires. It's what you prepare for.
19
@efim_sivacholi Was that a Freudian slip, Effie? The flag state of the tanker in question is Cook Islands. Are you fessing up that it's a Russian military ship instead?
19
Theofil Stratilat China has already made it clear that it's not trans-shipping spare parts to Russia. China doesn't want to risk being sanctioned itself. The same goes for Turkey.
19
@kemannystoute9416 It's best for Russia to stay within its borders.
18
@mickeskogen3184 Ask yourself: how was Napoleon defeated in Russia, the USA in Vietnam, the Soviet Union in Afghanistan, etc., etc. Defeat doesn't have to involve capitulation. Russia will eventually retreat from Ukraine. It will count as a defensive victory for Ukraine, and a defeat for Russia.
18
@VicharB You've got it backwards. If you throw around accusations, you're expected to be able to substantiate them. In other words, the burden of proof is on you. You alluded to factual errors in DW's reporting. What are they?
18
@nenadmitrovic3469 Not true. The bidding process was no different for US mining companies. However, it's a moot point. No one, including the Chinese, managed to exploit Afghanistan's mineral riches because of the security situation. Interestingly, that's still the case with the Taliban in charge. The Afghan government is very displeased with the Chinese. Try to keep it factual. You're embarrassing yourself with your unfounded claims.
18
@Pers0002 Oh, but Ukraine has put up a helluva fight. Estimates put Russian casualties at 80,000 and armour losses at 4,000. By the way, you'd better not try to guess what the exact number is, because if you get it right, you'll be imprisoned for seven years -- it's the law in Russia.
18
Frustration with Indian men serving as Russia's cannon fodder in Ukraine?
18
The ICC clearly thinks otherwise, or they wouldn't have put out an arrest warrant for Putin on war crime charges. What are your legal credentials again?
18
@sinisatrlin840 He's looking for validation... and got the opposite.
18
@760HorsePower For your info, Finland just seized a Russian shadow fleet tanker that was also fitted out as a spy ship. Russian hawks are crying out in indignation and threatening war and whatnot. Keep up with the news!
18
It would be poetic justice if Putin's underpants got the Novichok treatment.
18
@Tylersel NATO expands by popular demand, in reaction to Russia's military aggression. Russia is free to let new members join its anti-NATO, the CSTO. Somehow, there are no takers. In fact, we don't know if the CSTO practically still exists. NATO, despite its expansion, hasn't stationed nukes closer to Russia, but don't let facts bother you.
18
It's the Trump effect. Trump doesn't think or consult experts. He does and undoes and does.
17
@gdiwolverinemale3rd History of the West? Is there a common history? You Putin trolls are getting zanier by the day.
17
Nad Nad Russia might as well drop a Tsar Bomba on Moscow. Same effect.
17
@avex3903 It sounds like you're the one who needs to exchange his pen for a sword. Neither is exactly mighty, but your pen must be the duller one.
17
Netanyahu is making Hamas great again. His pet project, it seems.
17
@RubiaStorm Russia is quite dependent on European money for its oil and gas. Without it, the poorly-diversified Russian economy would grind to a halt before you can say when. Do you have other half truths to share? How about the dependence of China on Europe? Trade is a two-way street.
17
Let's hope Azerbaijan, too, respects international law and recognises that genocide and ethnic cleansing are big no-nos.
17
Of course it's a problem, but there's a difference. The Med is a sea. Here, we're dealing with a land border. We do what we can to stem the flow.
17
Next, quit this world.
17
Covid-19 is China's gift to the world.
16
@Dan I really question your claim that the US is somehow the 3rd oldest country on earth. Care to elaborate? Most stable country doesn't ring true either in the light of your civil war and the polarisation that we're seeing once again. "In fact" implies that it's a fact-based observation. Do share the facts.
16
@Bigsmallcountry You must think the Indian Ocean is Indian. Or the Gulf of Mexico, Mexican. Gulf of Finland, Finnish. The world is simple to simpletons.
16
@gweejiahan9336 Taiwan is justified in mistrusting Chinese pharmaceutical companies. They're all subjected to state control and we all know how China habitually threatens Taiwan with war and violates Taiwanese airspace as a matter of course.
16
Bollocks. The European electorates and their elected representatives (that's politicians, in case you can't make the connection) seem pretty unanimous on Trump: the guy sucks.
