We see the same thing in the USA, with known violent criminals go uninvestigated, but there's always 20 or 30 cops to come shut down your business during COVID, or a horde of FBI agents investigating Catholics for going to church on Sunday.

From that point forward, it only takes one high official to muck that thing up for everyone. When Biden took office, the authoritarianism wrt COVID response went off the scale. Trump took a "right to try" approach. Career officials took a "You must submit to our will and you may not speak freely on such matters."

Sometimes the whole town got together and hired a dedicated school teacher from the city. UK is smaller than the US, but the pain of centralized control is just as bad and the control reaches far deeper, due to zero constitutional guarantees of free speech or the right to keep and bear arms. The British government can declare any kind of speech to be a "threat" and put people in jail for it and censor their speech openly. The U.S. government has to be sneakier about its censorship, because of the Bill of Rights in our constitution. The USA is the ONLY nation in the world that asserts that our natural rights supersede the government. Every other "democracy" on the planet believes that rights are granted or removed at the pleasure of the national government. The only long-term solution is decentralization. Let the local communities decide what's best for them and pay their own way. Only national governments can run deficits year after year, to the ruination of the entire country.

  38. Federal courts and several states are saying "Hell no!" to federal vaxx mandates in the USA. It's already gone pretty far, just with propaganda and an urge to avoid ANY liability. If not the regulators, themselves, then WHO wrote that regulation, whose ONLY purpose is to HIDE CONFLICTS OF INTEREST!!! I also insist on the right to free expression, even when it offends me, and I think Muslims who commit violent acts in response to any depiction of the prophet Muhammad is something I cannot abide. Condemn it with words and art, if you want, but violence - and the THREAT of violence - should not be tolerated. Any Muslim who can't handle it shouldn't take History of Art. Any Muslim who commits violence over this should be punished to the full extent of the law.
