  2. Before the feds took over everything, communities held fund-raising events to help the local hospital, a point of community pride. Feds have cut us off from each other. We don't look to ourselves or to help our neighbors. We run crying to the federal government every time we skin our knee, and we wonder why we're treated like children. You can't have freedom if you're always looking for something "free" from the feds. We always end up paying double, and crises turn into chronic problems, with permanent bureaucracies that take on a life of their own, and serve their OWN interests rather than the purpose for which they were created. Progressives don't understand this. All they see is "Free Stuff" and they're on board.

  15. European colonialism was what made the USA an originally anti-imperialist nation. Lots of bad shit was done in the name of British/Portuguese/Dutch/Spanish imperialism. The only thing keeping Russia and Germany out of most of it was English dominance at sea. Historically, empires have always behaved this way. Persuasion/indoctrination when possible. Force of arms as needed. Divide and conquer, etc. It was inevitable that it would play out the way it did, because European countries COULD impose their will. This is the case throughout history. Where it gets sticky is when old USA decided to emulate European methods and empire-building. It didn't take long, either. I think Madison tried to invade Canada during his presidency. Canada wasn't having any, so it failed, miserably. Forcing trade on Japan at the point of a gun. Not a bright spot in American history. That's not supposed to be how we roll. Not with the Declaration-guided U.S. Constitution. Empire is not good in the eyes of most Americans. But blaming all white people for their barbaric past, while treating all other races as "noble savages" is just communism with woke lipstick. Yeah. Our past is barbaric. So is the past of every nation.

The mere fact of their being televised would move policy in government. That's not the case, today. There's too much else to watch and pay attention to. What would/should we do if Russia/China staged a coup in Mexico and poured military aid into Mexico and talked $hit about how its purpose was to take on the USA? U.S. officials assured the USSR that NATO would not expand if the USSR decided to do what it did. Then as soon as it did what it promised, we said "We are the only superpower, so we do what we want, and expanded NATO. Hungary, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Finland, ... Meanwhile, at home, we are increasingly authoritarian and collectivist, making ourselves into a version of the USSR. I'm just not buying the "But they are worse!" argument that I've been fed all of my life.

Trump appears to be the only rich bastard who ever told Epstein to fuck off, and this was long before Epstein was ever charged with a crime. Trump also provided evidence to one of the girls suing Epstein. Again, Trump was the only rich bastard who helped the girl.   26. Until they figure out how to actually oversee the overseers. What you feel about FISA applies to any security-related federal agencies. I watched the Trey Gowdy hearings (more than I wanted), and every time they got close to the meat of the subject, the FBI/DOJ cited "national security" and shut down the entire line of inquiry. Over and over and over again. It was obvious that Congress had no ability to oversee the security state. But it's not just national security. Congress is unequipped (and often self-interested) in its oversight of EPA, USDA, ATF, you name it. That's why I have to part way with Jimmy on domestic-policy issues other than security issues. The government does more to prop up bad actors than to protect us from bad actors. It's the nature of the bureaucratic beast. Ultimately, the best protection for the people is to avoid creating these agencies that make policy for the whole country behind closed doors.

That's the direction we're headed, which is why I preach against progressive economic models. You don't solve poverty and deprivation by putting government in charge. What progressives always do is put the people they despise and distrust the most in control of more and more sectors of the economy, and then they say the solution is to put those same power-mad clowns in charge of even MORE services. Something people don't understand about Russia/USSR is its roots in Czarist Russia, what the people lived under for many generations. The Czars were brutal and incompetent. The Bolsheviks were brutal, slightly more competent, and the people went straight from monarchy by incompetents to dictatorship by communists. This is a common theme whenever nations graduate from monarchy to civilian rule. It's very rare to have a nation birthed by the middle class, like the USA was. Now that we KNOW that human beings will abuse their powers when granted them, maybe you progressives will be in less of a hurry to give government so many responsibilities, each of which gives it more authority and power over us. The only thing that could've cost Assad the war with the rebels was something stupid, like a chemical attack, provoking U.S. intervention. I still think that the WAY "we" executed that missile strike, we intended to do minimum harm. It was mostly symbolism. Some conservative conspiracy theorists suggest Trump was just throwing Deep State a bone, to keep them off his back a little longer, while keeping the Russians from getting too pissed-off, by warning everybody out of the vicinity before the attack. Supporting that claim is the fact that the Russians DID pull their people out of the affected area ahead of time. So you know they had the heads-up. So you know Assad had the heads-up. I think Schiff's number of "Avenatti moments" is becoming too great for even the legacy media to ignore. Guys who are the most brazen about making unfounded accusations end up having the most to hide, a lot of the time. Jimmy Swaggart will preach fire and brimstone and then hire a hooker, because he "just wants to watch." (I think he DID only watch, but that was it, for him, when it came out.) The champion of women's rights just can't keep his hands to himself at work. The guy digging up 10-year-old tweets turns out to have some 10-year-old tweets of his OWN.
