  10. We all have gaps. Most of us try to either hide or close ours. Maybe this is his way of learning things that he never learned while he was totally absorbed as a developer. Same with Hollywood. Same with famous musicians. Mega hours getting good at one thing. Doesn't leave room for much else. You kind of have to live a very boring life to know a lot about everything.

A lot of libertarians and conservatives - the good ones, in my opinion - question our endless wars in the Middle East that seem to serve no one's interests except for a small pocket of socialist Zionists in apartheid Israel. Creation of the State of Israel was the last gasp of the British Empire, saddling the USA with its defense in perpetuity. We tell ourselves "Israel is an important ally (proxy) in the region." Why do we need proxies in the Middle East? Is it so they can pull nasties that help us so we don't have to and we can pull nasties and they can pretend it wasn't them. But this isn't fooling anybody except maybe the American people. I don't think forever war is good for Israel or USA or anybody living in the Middle East.

  25. Not a big fan of RINO Mike Johnson, but he's right on this issue. Not a big fan of FOX, but they get this story right. This is just more of the same crap they've been doing for many years. Act upset. Disrupt everything that doesn't agree with you 100%. From Antifa raids on prayer meetings to trying a pseudo-takeover of Congress along Bolshevik lines. It's all from the same playbook, but it wears thin very quickly.

There's a fascist taint to Space-X, where his main customer is the U.S. Government. He's just the capitalist who positioned himself for those kinds of earnings. The definition of fascism is basically public-private partnership. Anything to do with the military or space is a bit fascist. Government can't have just anybody going into space, willy-nilly, or risk giving up the high ground to independent 3rd parties. If you own space, you can literally throw rocks at any nation.

One of the reasons Bill Maher misses with me so much is his bland, bored presumption of his intellectual superiority, when, as a trained scientist, mathematician, and historian, I find him to be pretty shallow and woefully untrained in any kind of serious qualitative or quantitative analysis, which is no impediment to a career in punditry. None of them saw a war they didn't love. None of them ever said a word about how our food is poisoning us.   42. Yes. People in the middle are getting screwed, but what's the solution? Put everybody under the gentle ministrations of a government infested with rats? What we need is to go back to the days when every town did the best it could, and the community hospital was supported by the local community, to the best of its ability, and not with promises they'd have to borrow from our children's futures to keep. We helped a lot more people for a lot less when doctors were hired by the local community and did their best to turn no one away. No bureaucracy. Just "All he can afford is a pig and 4 bushels of corn, so that's what I'm charging." Instead of virtue-signaling on the national stage, local do-gooders would virtue-signal in the local community by raising money for the local hospital. Make it something your community is proud of. When the feds are paying for it, you lose all of that. That's a major problem, but probably the biggest problem is the corruption that sets in when it's all centralized, and one guy screwing up or simply with mal intent, can wreck health care for everybody. (See "Anthony Fauci."). But until it starts rotting too much from within, a lot of people think they're getting something really great that they can't afford.

  47. It's going to get worse for overweight people over time, as the government faces insolvency in the very near future from all the unfunded liabilities just around the corner. Being overweight could become the new "unpatriotic." There's a huge bubble of Boomers hitting retirement, now, and the rest of us will be paying for all of their chronic ailments, the vast majority of which will be blamed on obesity.

  49. Japanese learned how to live sustainably and maintain peace and harmony in enormous, clean, well-managed metropolises, when Europeans were living in filth. There's a lot to be said for that. But I think the culture gave up a lot of their individuality and privacy for the greater good, and in some ways, that's sad. I'd probably be a pretty poor representative of the USA if I visited Japan. I'm too outspoken, and I probably smell bad to most Japanese, because I like nothing better than my meat and potatoes. Even if you keep yourself clean - which I do - I think the difference in diet would be pretty noticeable to a Japanese native, the same way I can smell people from some parts of China.
