Richard The Constitution by its very words was meant to be expansive in the bill of rights. If not, then the 9th and 14th Amendments have no meaning. Alito and other right wing Catholics on the court have spent their lives fighting against abortion. This decision is just a mechanism for helping outlaw the practice in right wing states. For 49 years a majority of Supreme Court justices said the opposite, most of them appointed by Republican presidents. For the first time in history, the Supreme Court took away an individual right. No wonder the Supreme Court's popularity is plummeting. It will only get worse as long as this extremist religious majority is in power.
1
Richard Doubtful. Younger Americans are even more pro-choice than boomers. It is likely in the next decade or two that a new court will throw out Dobbs and return to protecting a woman's right to control her body.
1
@OptimalOwl Roe and Casey recognized that every individual has the right to determine whether they need an abortion. The Alito court took that right away and gave it to politicians. I trust individuals more than politicians.
1
At Auschwitz-Birkenau, the old, mothers, and young children were stuffed into gas chambers within a few hours after arrival. That is, after their clothes, possessions, children's toys etc were stolen by SS like this man. Then they would go into the gas chambers and cyanide pellets would be dropped in and they would die horrible deaths. Then their bodies were burned and used as fertilizer. If you think for one moment than any SS personnel like this guy deserved a break then you are sadly mistaken.
1
Anti abortion people should learn that other people, in fact a majority of Americans didn't want Roe and Casey overturned.
1
@therealbanana7807 You are most welcome
1
Before today it was up to the individual. But the extreme Catholic Republicans on the Supreme Court don't trust individuals.
1
Who are the tiny hats ?
1
@Lion718 Some of them were, others weren't and one thing they did do is protect individual liberty from government regulation. Alito has turned that on its head.
1
Prove that "Antifa" was behind the Trumper attempted coup. Credible evidence only.
1
The Supreme Court having the final word in Constitutional interpretation is itself not enumerated in the Constitution. Nor is the right to marry, have children, send children to private schools, buy birth control etc.
1
Roe said just that, it allowed states to make determinations, based upon science, to limit abortions after the first trimester. This new decision says states can make it illegal from day 1.
1
The took the right away from individuals and gave it to politicians.
1
Which one? Nancy Reagan was pro choice.
1
It is amazing how many Republicans say they don't trust government but would rather government make decisions about abortions instead of individuals.
1
Prove that it was "Antifa" with credible evidence.
1
The extreme right won't stop there. They want a federal law banning all abortions.
1
@OFAleague No German was executed for refusing to serve in death camps.
1
@OFAleague I've never read of any SS personnel being killed for requesting a transfer. Actually this man did request a transfer from Auschwitz and it was granted. No punishment.
1
@OFAleague The SS used slave labor to build most of the camps.
1
Hardly. Russia has lost 1/3 of the territory they controlled at the end of March and have had 50,000 casualties.
1
If it is murder, and it isn't, and never has been, than how would you punish the women who take medication to induce abortion? After all that is the most common form of abortion in the US.

Fake comment
1
When men start carrying babies in their womb that will be a good argument. Until then, no.
1
On the contrary, far more Americans didn't want Roe overturned than wanted it overturned.
1
@gingerbread7113 Let me know when someone in your family becomes pregnant. That way I can come to your house and give you my opinion on what they should do. See how that works? Worry about yourself.
1
Alito and the others actually TOOK the ability of an individual to make an abortion decision away and handed it to government.
1
Most Americans wanted Roe v. Wade to remain in place.
1
@georgepierson4920 Show me any poll that says a majority of Americans wanted Roe to be overturned. There are none.
1
@brianwilliams3837 Roe recognized that individuals have the right to make a decision whether to have an abortion. Dobbs took that right away from individuals and gave it to government. If you like big government, you will love the Dobbs decision. I don't.
1
@brianwilliams3837 Dobbs took the decision away from individuals and gave it to government. An American should never have to move to another place to exercise their rights. The Constitution recognized that people have rights and it limits the government from infringing on those rights. It doesn't start with the proposition that individuals only have the rights that government gives them.
1
The next court can overturn Dobbs and protect the right to have an abortion. And it is likely to happen too.
1
Germans were not forced to serve in death camps. This man volunteered to join the SS. He later requested a transfer out of Auschwitz which was granted.
1
@MySeekingtruth Prior to Dobbs, the decision was up the to the individual based on their own morality, ethics, etc. Now the Supreme Court has put in the decision into the hands of politicians.
1
It appears that lots of Republicans want to completely deny abortion to anyone for any reason even in the first trimester with some very narrow exceptions about the life of the mother being in danger. That is why it should be left up to the individual and not government.
1
What is really unjust is the hundreds of thousands of children gassed at Auschwitz-Birkenau who never were able to grow old.
1
@thegamesbrotherssvk5135 In his case perhaps but only because he admitted his crimes in an attempt to prove the Holocaust did happen. But as far as age goes, I think even Nazis on their death beds should die in prison.
1
@disgustedcharlie6679 He participated in the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of innocent people. There is no statute of limitations on genocide.
1
@disgustedcharlie6679 Auschwitz-Birkenau was a death factory. It existed for one reason only: to murder as many civilians as quickly as possible. If that isn't a war crime, their is no war crime. Almost all of the German SS there were volunteers. Better to murder civilians than to be shot at by Soviets or others. I have no sympathy for him. He has since died but at least he died in disgrace.
1
Very few SS German Death Camp guards and personnel were forced to work at death camps. He volunteered. To his credit, in old age he spoke out against Holocaust deniers. In any event, he has since died.
1
@e-man1634 And he owes child support...
1
Very doubtful. The SS didn't execute their members for wanting out of death camps. In fact this man requested a transfer and it was granted.
1
@TrenbologneSandwich He was no hero. He served in the SS.
1
It won't end abortion in red states, will just drive it underground like it was before.
1
Abortion law in the UK is far more liberal than the restrictions the 26 Republican states are enacting or have already enacted. There is no comparison.
1
All of the men in the SS who murdered millions of people were following orders. That did not prevent them from being punished and nor should it.
1
More than half of all abortions are non surgical. 91% occur in the first trimester. Facts.
1
He personally still is against it, but not as a matter of law for everyone else. Donald Trump said he was pro choice before he suddenly decided to run as a Republican. Look it up.
1
@jasonv2323 It is a shame that Republicans are taking away the right of individuals to make abortion decisions and giving that right to politicians.
1
@jasonv2323 If it is murder, and it is not, how would you punish the women who induce abortion through medication, which is the most common form of abortion in the US ?
