YOU’RE ALEX HOLLINGS!
832
We’re always prepared for WWIII. That’s why we spend as much as the rest of the world combined on our military each year. Most of this has been in the works for decades. Deterrence is always cheaper.

The F-15EX is the most badass platform of any type to ever fly (imo anyway). Thanks to our international partners like Qatar, SA and others for making it possible (by footing 90% of the bill).

YOU’RE ALEX HOLLINGS!!!

You’re Alex Hollings! If the F-117 wasn’t operating, it’d be a waste of an incredibly useful platform.

The F-14s and F-15s are hot rods. Combined w/advanced radars + missiles for strong BVR capes and it’s not even mildly surprising that they could intercept the SR-71 with current generation radar and BVR ordinance. The fact they could barely get kills with HABUs throwing the game. The F22 having more power than the SR71 seems crazier. But, yes, I know the SR71 gets much of its speed from the ramjet at high speed.
54
Good primary source information. Thanks for that.
50
The EX’s radar is so powerful, it can hit a lot of aircraft and other targets from beyond stand off range even without LO aircraft designating targets for it.
45
I wish we had one for Musk.
39
Yeah. Its tonnage is weak, it has zero experience and totally inept commanders and sailors and it doesn’t have any aircraft carriers that can actually go months or years without refueling like ours. So, it can’t project force . It can only defend its coast.
37
@adam68756 Says the guy who claims the US is lagging behind China in 5th gen fighters 🤦♂️ despite the fact that there are more F-35s in existence than every other model of LO plane in existence combined including previous US models.
37
@adam J20 & J35 = bigger radar cross section, less powerful jets, less advanced avionics, less powerful & advanced radar, less advanced RAM. Who’ll help you? Winnie the Pooh?
34
Did just Iran?
34
As we’ve seen from the dated ATACMS with inertial navigation systems, which preform much better than the GPS reliant GMLRS, being dated is often a good thing.
30
I’d like to know what the cost of an all new NGAD vs setting up production again from scratch for our latest, already complete F-22 design. We’ve already blown through billions just exploring NGAD.
29
@GeorgeWashingtonLaserMusket We can afford both, but not when only the middle class pays taxes.
29
@deansmits006 Some of it is hindsight, but Iraq should have been avoided without hindsight. But even if we pretended, that too was only in hindsight, they should have realized nearly 15 years ago it was time to bail.
28
@rustyshaklferd1897 Do you really think presidents are screening employees? Not that he even worked for an American agency or biz to begin with…
23
Love that a plane that first flew in 1954 is not only still flying (the B52), but carrying some of our most advanced tech/weaponry.
23
We learned it’s more like a gen 4.25 fighter.
22
@AdamBrusselback Who needs these pesky facts or context?!
22
That’s what she said.
21
You must be one of those people who blame anything from local muggings and your favorite “sports” bar going t*ts up to military procurement delays and “movies these day” on the sitting president when you don’t like him.
21
They don’t know jack about most of the topics they talk about. Their reporting on the war in Ukraine, for example, is beyond atrocious.
21
@MayomiBravo Great aircraft. The fact that it’s a carrier means if we’d got the Super Tomcat it’d likely be the baddest boy ever.
21
@adam68756 My god. If you believe that you truly have drunk the Kool Aid. Makes total sense that planes with vastly inferior engines and designed off stolen IP would be better. Pointless to debate w/the likes of you.

VIP context for understanding the PLA: Being a soldier is viewed with total contempt by Chinese society (the US equivalent of being a janitor at McDonald’s there) and their soldiers are almost exclusively rural peasants who joined because it was their only option to survive. Food and shelter is their pay. The communists are afraid to have hundreds-of-thousands of well trained soldiers. They view it as a threat to themselves. The reason the vast bulk of the Chinese military is made up of only the truly desperate is because in China, joining the army is basically unthinkable for not just the individual male but for the entire multi-generational family unit. This is due to the financial ramifications of not having your only son you invested every penny you had into maximizing their education to give the greatest possible competitive edge in the workplace. So, the individuals who have actually gotten educations and scored well in educational testing, would never be allowed by their family to join the army as it would mean no financial return on a huge investment (a good education is extremely expensive in China).

There’s a great Nat Geo 4-part one hour documentary that goes into depth about the Belgian incidents and how the government/military took it seriously and exerted a lot of effort investigsting it snd were totally transparent (basically, the opposite of how the US Gov, DoD and media operate). The doc features really, really heavy hitting government officials, an NY Times writer who has dedicated her life to researching and advancing attitudes toward UAPs and many other amazing contributors. Highly recommend it.
17
And the whole reason we didn’t develop one was because we know half of their so-called hyper sonic missiles were just ballistic missiles and because there’s no massive advantage to a hypersonic missile it’s just a bragging, right.
16
I find the valuable members of many communities are like Stanton. They want to encourage the next generation. When I got into racing cars as a clueless kid, I had many big names seemingly give me inexplicable amounts of time and help and it means a lot. Later in life I’ve tried to do the same for excited kids. BTW, Bob Lazar’s testimony shows why we’re still pursuing other engine tech. I doubt we’ve made much progress on reverse engineering AG tech.
14
@dextermorgan1 Yeah, with all the chaos going on. Markets down, inflation way up, NOAA scrapped, Trump trying to align America with Russia instead of Europe…totally deranged to be concerned.
14
@ogdocvato There’s more to my consideration than air-to-air combat speculation, which would be a yawn inducing convo. But I think you’re a bit delusional if you think two raptors could obliterate 10 EXs considering they don’t even carry enough munitions to do that.
14
But they drive a lot of mopeds.
13
@SandboxxApp Another important term to know is “Chabuduo.” It roughly translates to “good enough.” Sometimes it just results in incomprehensible directions. Sometimes a bridge collapse. But it is all pervasive.
13
Great detail. Seems like an obvious mistake that wouldn’t have happened had they incorporated an aero specialist in the mission planning.
13
Have you seen their bricks? Bricks used in actual large buildings. They’re literally filled with loose dirt and chalk?
11
@jonathanryan9946 I was referring to reality. Not a video game. You know nothing about air-to-air combat if you think they’d barely need one missile per F-15 to knock them out of the sky.
11
It makes more sense to load the B21 with long range air-to-air missiles and pair it with highly maneuverable fighter drones than develop the NGAD.
11
You must be the ever first person to use that logistics line in a comments section! I’m a simple man. I see an original comment and I click.
10
The pilots really weren’t in anything more than minor danger.
10
@slugface322 We have to be realistic about these things, especially WISH POWER!
9
I thought it was flower power with Hippie Hollings.
9
You can get 6th generation! In the Navy! You’ll have a loyal wingman! In the Navy! You’ll have a stealth fighter! In the Navy!
9
@onebridge7231 How can a diesel powered carrier be a global asset? Use your brain. They don’t even have electro magnetic launching capability.
8
@MichaelJordan-t1j Which countries and comments are these? This sounds like some Wumao nonsense.
8
You should start an aviation version called Air News. Boom! Welcome to the future.
8
@jaket2k927 Believe it or not, common sense doesn’t always apply to how these agencies operate. They’re still “boys with toys” and they love cool names and cool looking toys. There’s a lot of testosterone/alpha energy in the DoD too. While silly looking vehicles would be a better cover, it’s rare they go that route. I am not saying this story is true, but covert agencies do often use black aircraft.
8
$.75b used to be a huge deal. Now it’s a small program. Anyway, you can be certain, just like with 🇷🇺, 🇨🇳’s weapons are nowhere near their claims and the HGV missile’s range isn’t nearly 1,200 miles.
8
2 meters? That’s possible. I used to bulls eye womp rats with my T16 and they’re less than two meters.
7
First Lightning. Kind of a badass name
