  2. Azerbaijan is not really dependent on Russia for anything so links are not as strong. While there is still an ethnic Russian population and Russian is spoken in Baku, Azeri is the only official language in Azerbaijan with Russian now degraded to optional status in schools. Apart from Georgia the other countries you mentioned have good links with Russia and somewhat depend on it for technological and economic support. As you might have seen in Bald's Georgia videos, Russian is not spoken by everyone, especially outside Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The Georgians also rather dislike the Russian government.
