  1. As someone who worked in the biggest vegetable nursery in Australia, they CAN technically survive but they're in effect pot plants. Relying on fertiliser and watering and with the chance one side gets flooded and root rot kills that side. It works but they get root bound and stunted after several years. Unless the rubbish concrete breaks up which it might after 10 years.
