Over here in Australia we had "party line" phone systems in the 50s and I think you would get a weak ring if it wasn't for you and a strong one if it was. But the other 5 or so families sharing the line could listen in and even talk.

3:31 well I certainly didn't feel gay there.....

Stoli was sent as payment for pepsi. To unravel all the currency exchange and possibly inflation or devaluation. During the collapse of the Soviet Union they gave PepsiCo old military hardware such as battleships to sell as scrap metal as payment instead. Some US politician complained and the response from the PepsiCo CEO was "I am single handedly dismantling the Soviet armed forces faster than the whole US government combined.".

And by the early 80s they were saying communism would be there by about 2000, or maybe a few more years. It's like when my phone is uploading. It tells me 5 minutes left. And that's what it told me 5 minutes ago.

Just funny to think that as cars were special in the Soviet Union my uncle and dad slone had about 20 wrecks and 5 working vehicles and that didn't include my grandfathers cars. And they were just a few hillbillies on a small farm in Australia.

Samantha Smith. Who died a few short years later in a plane crash with her father.

If it's true IT'S STILL TRUE. Sergei is here to tell the truth, not get a beating because he didn't tell the "official" PC story.

Charles Lee Ray was probably an actual case. And it was A DAMN GOOD joke. If it wasn't real. You grumpy assed commie.
8
I heard from a Romanian it was about 90% of people who did it. VERY GLAD and grateful you aren't trying to pretend like these pro-communists do and try to get the REAL answer not the polished turd answer...
7
What are they gonna steal.... "Dimitri, you have been busted stealing depleted uranium...."

I heard the diabetes got him. They WERE WORKING on a breifcase dialysis machine and it would've been ready in another 2 months but he died before it was finished. SOME SAY that he could well have turned the Soviet Union around and kept it going til at least 2000. Because he was a very hard handed man. Not tolerant of sny laziness, drunkenness, corruption or other BS.

Generally I believe the communists liked the concept of people doing what they liked best. And then the crap jobs like coal mining or the jobs that NEEDED more people than were willing to go, would give more money or big perks/benefits to get more people in. Often housing coming with the job, queue jumping benefits, etc.

Yeah. He loved the corn 😅

Strangely enough, if you're on s disability or old age pension here in Australia, plenty of these things you mentioned are severely discounted. A huge list of drugs will cost you a set price (about US $4.20), you get a certain amount of free public travel and I mean including SERIOUS distance. But only if you work it right because I think it's based on 8 "trips" per year. So my aunt on a disability pension goes hundreds of miles away as one trip instead of just blowing the "trip" to go to the next town. Anyone on welfare of any type gets discounted public transportation anyway. We have public housing too but the system is terrible. People who can't get anything for years and end up homeless while they leave whole streets of houses empty for years then demolish them. But refugees are moving straight into new places (and given $30 thousand to "help set up"). And some of those "refugees" have been found to be telling big lies and aren't actually refugees at all.

Frigging insane. I have heard holland has a similar thing bit its like a few weeks. It's ACTUALLY an open public register. And I heard "it's good because friends can find you". Yeah, so can crazy ex girlfriends...... screw that. Just in my local area, they started "fire safety inspections" because out here in Australian countryside grass fires can result in house fires (had one at my place about a year ago, 26 fire trucks, even helicopter). But the funny thing was they seemed to pick up everything EXCEPT long grass around houses. And I highly suspect that it was a few adult children of other local government employees who had the job MADE just for them to get a job. Only lasted like a year or 2.

I would have had a gallon of gasoline straight on that mattress.

@justdustino1371 it's the way you worded it. Sounds like when YOU were a kid. Not your grandfather. Coz that's how I read it first time as well.
4
NOTHING was mentioned about abduction. You missed the whole point.
4
Not these days. It's pretty easy going but I gather almost no English, VERY cheap food and fantastic food quality, but the visa can be quite complicated. Like more than you would expect. My sister's friend looked into it and you will wait weeks even months for approval.

4:53. Nazis. The guy on the right has an MP43/Stg 44 with magazine taken out. Worlds first assualt rifle.

Over here in Australia it's not uncommon for a priest to go to 3 or 5 different churches on a Sunday out in the rural areas. One priest was like 83, going to 5 churches with decent distances between them. It was like a 14 hour day and the old guy couldn't handle it. Ran off the road when he fell asleep driving.
3
I think it was kind of like "clearing out the elitist scum"
3
Actually the EXACT thing happened with convicts first bought to Australia. They thought they were suddenly straightening up because they kept requesting bibles. Only to find they were using them all as cigarette paper.
3
10:00 it sounds like an Alaskan "dry cabin". Waste water freezes in the pipes so everything goes to a bucket and you take the bucket out. And they have an outhouse too.
3
Reminds me of a few towns that I used to go to when trucking. Just a bar, gas station if you're lucky, post box, and a few old people on the pension. Houses though are NOWHERE NEAR that far gone. Most need repairs but are not completely gone. Sometimes these towns have a lot of single moms too. My sisters town has cheap housing but MAINLY a strange building classification which means it's easy to turn old shops into houses. But the school is one of the bigger reasons for the single moms.

The ones at the top of the heap ALWAYS miss something that helped them the most.
3
MY GOSH. Do you not know that the reason your dad didn't have to relight his cigarette was THE ADDITIVES the germans put in it to keep it burning? I thought EVERYONE knew that. You must REALLY be not used to anything related to cigarettes. It's nothing to do with the tobacco quality. And actually the self burning stuff is actually quite nasty. I think we started getting those cigarettes in the 70s. But there's one brand available that doesn't have it, and no cigars have it either.
3
I remember a clueless bunch of Americans. But they were teenage girls so..... one of my sisters friends has American dad and Australian mother. Born in the USA but spent much of her life here. Went back for a few years as a teenager. The girls there thought EVERYONE was BORN WITH an American accent and had to LEARN the Australian accent.... priceless stupidity.
3
Sprats is the right word. If you mean the little fish that look like sardines. The German store chain Aldi sells them here sometimes.

Actually one of the stark differences between the Soviet Union and the west was the computers were always very far behind. Think about this. In the time he's talking about cars being special, my father and uncle had over 20 junk cars and 5 working cars between them. And considering that at the end of the Soviet Union officials were being bribed with VCRs, one of the most coveted items at the time, guess how far they got with computers..... they were only used for military applications and it became apparent with missiles and fighter jets that they had big problems trying to advance the computers to run this gear. All the creativity had been beaten out of them and the incentives taken away and computers take very smart people on huge wages to develop..... what would the average person do with one? No internet, not bulliten board dialups. In a country where it was hard to get bananas and mayonnaise would never be on the shelves for long.....

English version has a native man who helps him. Italian version.... scantily clad hot young black woman..... 😝 why does that not surprise me....
3
except that jaguar is owned by ford. and you can't spell beetle. indian taxi drivers are STILL DRIVING copies of the BRITISH HILLMAN HUNTER FROM THE 50'S. you have new car of your own design that have no heaters or air conditioning! but what could anyone expect? Your engineers usually know NOTHING about engineering because they were rich kids who BRIBED their way thru university.
2
I think aspects of the Soviet Union just MADE jobs whether they were really needed or not. Because it was thought of as more important to give a man a job than be productive as such. And YES the kibbutz is a collective. Many of those have factories but there are few left and people who left them in their 30s (women) realized they couldn't even COOK because someone else had always done it while they done other tasks or worked in the kibbutz factory.
2
INVALID is the OLD BRITISH TERM.... never mind french... There's even a beer called invalid stout that I could buy 15 years ago or maybe less. Meant to "help" invalids.
2
I'm SURE you uploaded this one BEFORE. I remember the bit about branch falling in the water "stale waters" because I commented that STAGNANT was the word you were looking for. I have a particularly brilliant memory. But can't remember what day of the week it is without thinking.
2
Stilts is the correct word. The lower ones they call stumps. Here in the hotter areas of Australia they have stilts so high that people park their cars underneath the house. It gives air flow for the hotter and humid climates, helping keep the house cooler.
2
It IS called mash. The legitimate ones we have are a plastic S bend thing and you put water in it and it bubbles out. BUT if the yeast had run out of sugar and stopped bubbling, as it cooles down at night the damn things would SUCK AIR BACK. They would also bubble so fast when the yeast was working that it would actually throw most of the water out of the S bend. The S bend goes into a rubber plug with a hole drilled in the middle for the S bend.

I know a German in his 80s and he remembered one SINGLE incident of his mother pulling him to the ground during a bombing. That's it. Surprised that you were even out of nappies at the end of WW2.

It's called the algorithm that makes your videos explode. I already told you this 10 times but you never reply.

See THIS IS WHY the old soviets and old commies like my grandfather (not east European) are SO FAR DIFFERENT from the "trendy greenie city left" of today. There were a lot of traditional conservative style morals in the old communism. I know it was a joke about wiping out homosexuality would wipe out facism but NOW anything ANTI gay is labeled nazi and rich white capitalism. Funny how gay sex orgies are somehow recruiting for capitalist spies. "So while I put this in your bum, how about you read some pro-capitalist propaganda"..... " This might hurt, but no more than the average worker under capitalism does every day at work.". Honestly they could have told stalin that gay orgies were causing UFOs to fly over russia and that was a threat so ban homosexuality.
2
Actually SAME THING in buildings in Australia even until the early 80s.
2
Do you NOT KNOW that Fanta has ALWAYS BEEN owned by Coca-Cola??? They first started selling it to the Nazis and because of the company structure it was their way of getting around the trade embargoes the USA had on the Nazis and to help them not be associated with Coca-Cola but still make money from the Germans. Obviously they just continued that with the Soviets.
2
Except Biden doesn't know where he is, won't do a cognitive test, mixes up don lemon with TRUMP, and won't win anyway.
2
Happened in STALINS COUNTRY?Stalin was from Georgia....

VERY different in Australia. With our public health care. While you're IN the military they're INCREDIBLY fussy on your teeth. My brother in law was on a 7 year contract and they done 3 of his teeth on GOLD at a cost of around $15,000 because they ABSOLUTELY WANT them to have no teeth problems. Rolls Royce treatment if you get injured but nobody EXCEPT special forces puts a TOE outside the base on anything other than a armored vehicle. So something like your bearcats (we have a similar thing called a bushmaster with armor underneath and multiple fuel tanks in case one gets hit, etc etc.)
2
I remember ALL lenses were glass back in the 80s. I remember my moms glasses being very heavy and then one year in about 1996 she got some with plastic lenses that were like 1/4 the weight all of a sudden. So the whole world had heavy glasses in the 80s.
2
You gonna have a lot of people in the comments crying that communism should have never ended. (I'm not one)
2
Meanwhile the modern day Portland and Seattle commies pretend that the disabled would be treated as special. Yet in the reality of the Soviet Union....
2
I heard a better version with Gorbachev told by Reagan. You may have heard it there.
2
SURVIVAL RUSSIA has one of those stoves in a guest house and explained it. Beds are in the loft, surrounding the chimney.
