  1. Perovskite tech is still in its infancy. I'm pretty sure it's disadvantages will be overcome before too long. The benefits are well worth pursuing.

  9.  @edwaggoner7403  since it works best in areas of low humidity and clear skies, I doubt that the panels would be much good at reducing the humidity of the local atmosphere to any worthwhile degree. Since they are mounted outside, unless the working fluid can be reduced below the interior dew point, I can't see the system being very effective at reducing internal humidity levels either. But as a booster for a a conventional heat pump, I think it could be a great asset.

  14. Umm, regarding the 48V 'low voltage' power distribution. It's called "power over ethernet" (PoE) or similar. The power and control uses the same 2 wires, which are shared to all devices using a 'ring main' type of system. Power and control are, NOT separate as you implied.

  17. Proteins are going to be produced in ever greater quantities by biological engineering as time goes by. Milk is a classic example. Most 'natural' milk byproducts such as whey are used in the production of proessed foods like bread. These are rapidly being replaced by chemicaly identical products produced by bacterial or fungal fermentation. These products are completely identical and indistinguishable from their 'natural' equivalents, but without the husbandry downsides, much more efficiently and MUCH cheaper. It's happening now.

  44. Note:None of the solvents used in manufacturing the Li-Ion battery remains after production. The 'fire problem' comes from using a self- combustible electrolyte. If a for whatever reason the cell temperature rises above a safe limit, this material breaks down, releasing heat. Any resulting 'fire' (not really a fire as nothing inside the cell is actually burning in the usual sense of the word) is hard to extinguish. Unless the temperature can be brought below the critical point, the 'fire' continues. It does not require oxygen, and water only works as far as it reduces the temperature.

  48. I hate it when people say Hydrogen "is the most abundant element in the universe" as if that makes it cool and normal here on Earth. It doesn't. Also, the fact that Hydrogen is the nuclear fuel used by the Sun is almost completely irrelevant to using it as an energy store here on Earth! The fact is that molecular Hydrogen is an extremely rare beast here on Earth for very good reasons. It is extremely light and highly reactive. Hydrogen and Helium are the two lightest gases in the universe, so both escape quite quickly to space and literally evaporate away from Earth. Also, Hydrogen can react easily with Oxygen which makes up 20 odd percent of our atmosphere, so it tends to become chemically bound up rather easily. It is produced continuously by biological processes and exists at around 550 parts per billion in the atmosphere more or less stably.
