Did you watch? Did you listen?
4
Most Variegated Petunia...
4
You sound a bit teste yourself!
4
A rapidly deflating tyre will absorb a LOT of energy!
4
@babyschuerman *layman...
4
... and the peek... Or did you mean the teepee in Sandy's trousers?
4
Sounds to me like good chemistry for future 4680's!
4
Looks can be deceiving...
4
Bird wings (and bodies) use bones that are basically hollow. Weight reduction is critical for efficient flight.
3
Their loss. My Physics and Chemistry is high school + lifetime curiosity. Anyone bored by watching this doesn't belong on the planet.
3
Pretty sure they'd already know. It's Tesla, after all.
3
Haha!
3
Hmm. "B" for Regen, or Single Pedal, or...
3
Pretty sure it WOULD NOT work!
3
Unless you can afford it...
3
Inverter whine (Not motor exactly, although it seems to emanate from the motors). The electric trains in Sydney (Australia) generate ridiculous levels of inverter whine. Particularly the older rolling stock. Very intrusive. Yeah, not a pleasant 'tune'!
3
I think it's about the nanotubes having oodles of space around them to soak up the Lithium.
3
Good strategy. Like regenerative braking.
3
@pauld3327 the motors get hot when they are doing work. A few percent of inefficiency means heat available to be pumped into the cabin.
3
Careful, you're starting to LOOK like a fanboy!
3
@bpark10001 thank you. I learned a lot from this!
2
Yeah, unexplained acronyms are my pet hate, btw...
2
Clearly, the 'big' legacies are screwed in China, and therefore, the world!
2
He's rather his pension payout than insurance...
2
They are ground up at very low temperature after discharging completely, then the components are separated physically and chemically. It's just like mining, only easier!
2
@tleo3333 knowing Tesla, (I don't, really...) they're watching with intense interest!
2
@commuterbranchline8132 ..."until electric technology provides a viable alternative"... We're already there!
2
It has panels built into the roof.
2
More likely they'll use fewer cells to get the sane range and faster charge times.
2
Now, if someone could just debug Sodium Sulphur...
2
Bullshit, its big oil and legacy auto. The unions are just an excuse...
2
You heard Sandy, liquid nitrogen bath, then grind it up!
2
To me, seat nelts come in black. Anything else is pretentiousness.
2
Makes sense.
2
When I was a kid, I couldn't get things apart quickly enough to see what's inside. All I ended up with was a pile of junk and cut fingers.
2
Now say something useful. Or at least accurate.
2
I doubt they'd last very long.
2
That's his 'kid in a candy store' moment!
2
Don't underestimate china!
2
Go away.
2
Pretty sure he's stated in one of his it's that he doesn't to avoid accusations of bias.
2
None said they HAD to be simpler!
1
@nc3826 afaik, both drawing and forming the wire square would have similar effects metallurgically, and therefore resistively. Both would need heat soaking.
1
Only nav. is available while driving...

Once hydrogen is cheaply made from excess renewable electricity, this type of powering will make sense for heavy transport. But not yet. Tesla semi will beat it to death on running cost. Range may be an issue in its favour, but not by enough. Rapid charging at regular stops is a better way to go. 2 hours tops on the road until autonomy takes over.
1
@PhilipBarton farms are an ideal place to set up a big PV system with enough storage to fuel all the battery powered farm equipment. Keep it simple...
1
@Mrbfgray you are completely wrong about BEV's. You'll see.
1
Holy crap.

Pouch cells have almost no strength. Cylindrical cells are immensely strong individually. The foam provides a strong matrix to transfer the rigidity of the individual cells to the pack as a whole. The foam does not need to be recycled, it's embodied energy is microscopic and it is not effectively recyclable, nor does it need to be. The metals are all that need to be recycled. Even the graphite on the anode is so cheap it's not essential to recycle it, although I believe it is done.

@daveinpublic hahaha!
