  2. The C8 is to be compared to all sports cars and mainly exotics. Ford had no intentions of competition with Ford. They were looking at the big fish. It’s track time might beat the GT500 as it’s a more balanced car with superb traction. The C8 will be quicker 0-60 than the GT500 due to better traction and superb balance. It’s quarter mile might be a few tenths slower than GT500. That’s if the GT500 gets traction on a good track. Look at the Hellcat. Dodge threw in a ton of Horsepower and it still gets beat at the quarter mile and track. Just wait till the Z06 comes out. Then the ZR1 with 1000hp all wheel drive. They are going after Bugatti and everything under. They will be the most dominant company. They now have the recipe to kill everything in every category.

  13. Austin Elwess Too bad the Cadillac has an awful interior. Que is so disappointing. I actually have lots of experience with it too. The squeaks and creaky interior is so annoying. We all sit in our interior 100% of the time while driving. Audi wins with no contest. Too many people are concerned with how fast a car is and forget about the whole package. This S4 can easily be tuned to a 10 second car.

  17. Companies don’t have a choice. Now that interest is up, investors are now getting 8 percent on their investment for companies to borrow money to build. COVID shutting down everything and prices of fuel going up while causing inflation to skyrocket, huge pay raises, utility bills doubling, insurance doubling, etc. It now cost a company double the price to build vehicles. So they are building less for more money. This is why most manufacturers want to move to Mexico. It’s cheaper to operate there. Unfortunately a lot of parts are still built in US. All those small companies went up in prices to sell to manufacturers. Simple people think it’s just the dealers making these suggested prices. Dealers have to pay the higher invoice prices now.

  21. It’s technically not overheating. It’s just over sensitive sensors that Honda put in place on purpose so it doesn’t overheat. An engineer explained this years ago. The redesign will be different. Not sure why they didn’t just map the sensors to be less sensitive. So easy to due with software.

  22. Watson Anthony GTR’s are great cars. Drive a GT3 or 458 and you’ll see what balance is. Chevy is copying the best of balanced cars. The best part is the price. The only thing the 458 has over the C8 is the revs and superior exhaust note. Something a V8 can’t mimic.

  25. Most who will buy the GT500 are collectors keeping them in their garage. You will barely see them on the road. C8’s will be everywhere. The car scene will be overloaded with them next year. People that never thought they would ever buy a vette will be driving a vette. The used C7 market will be overloaded with them too.

  26. Louis Misciasci Ford barely made money on the Ford GT. Ford doesn’t need to build a Ford GT for 90k. They are sold out at 500k. The waiting list for the chosen ones are years out. It’s more of a collectors car to go up in value. I have two good friends who own them. One of my other friends is very wealthy and he wanted to buy a GT. He didn’t qualify for their strict guidelines. The C8 is a mass production car, that I don’t see any other manufacturing company to do the same. Not at that price. I seriously don’t know how they will make money. They did what other companies couldn’t do at that price. The C8 is competing against exotics. I don’t think they care about the Mustangs. They are going after the big fish. The exotic market with the most reliable drivetrain. A daily driver too. Chevy is suicidal right now. They killed their own competition and killed their value on the C7’s. It will take them a decade to make a profit on the C8’s. Their investors must be nervous. It’s a great time to be the end consumer for the C8. I always hated vettes till now. But I’m a huge fan of both generations of the GT. Love mid engine cars. It will be the best bang for your buck. Period!!

  28. It comes at a cost though. 1.5 is very unreliable. A lot more moving parts to break. Rev hang is brutal. Clutch is very weak. Car heat soaks and gets slower in hot weather. Hybrid has no starter, no transmission, no manual clutch to break, no alternator, no turbo, no intercooler, no mechanical AC compressor which are known to break, no mechanical water pump, etc. The manual transmission and front diff is the only good thing that makes it engaging, sadly it’s connected to a horrible 1.5 that has bad head gaskets, horrendous rev hang, weak clutch, and oil dilution issues. The Type R is the one to buy if you want fun and reliability.

  35. cobramanphil The C8 it’s Z51 should do low 11’s. Possibly high 10’s. Do the math. My stock RS3 does 0-60 in 3.6 and 11.7 1/4.

  38.  @TheBb6prelude  No it will not. There is not enough flow in the heads to make that much power. Please don’t tell me. I’ve been building engines for 36 years. Do you build engines? If you did, you would know why tuners are mad at Acura. They bottlenecked the heads to more flow. Learn how engines are designed. Acura built this for safety. Small port heads with small turbo will produce more torque at low rpm. Only problem is falls short after 6k. Now if you want high hp, you need large head ports and bigger turbo. That will make less torque and power at 1600 rpm, but past 3500, it’s a complete monster. Past 6k, it’s insane power. Problem is the 10 speed can’t handle that. Honda even admits it. That’s why the NSX has a dual clutch auto instead of 10 speed. I know this, cause I talked to the development team. This is why they locked the ECU and TCU down. It’s not capable of handling more power. That’s why tuners are mad. That’s why mantras them in. Great car, with too many setbacks. It’s a great daily driver car.

  39.  @TheBb6prelude  The block itself is built for 600hp. The heads and turbo are built for 355. 390 if pushed. I did my research with builders. Turbo is small. Not capable of 390 plus. Self explanatory. Design is for low rpm power and torque. Fall flat past 6k. Hence why its redline is 6 max. Nothing is home after that. Transmission is not built. It’s a stock application only. Not high performance at all. That’s why there will never be any TCU tunes. Honda made it clear. It’s too bad cause it’s a good looking car. Handles great too. I just hate the mmi touchpad.

  40. Watson Anthony I would almost bet on the C8 having a better balance around the track then the Mustang. A mid engine balanced car is in another league. I’ve had a lot of Mustangs and never a Vette. But I might be waiting for the Z06. This will be the weirdest thing I ever thought I would buy. I’m tired of Fords awful paint along with the soso fit and finish. On a 35 k car it’s acceptable. On a 100k Mustang it’s not. I worked on two GT350R’s and the paint was trash. Very thin and sanding marks everywhere. I measured them and they were at 3.2 mil thick in some areas. That’s worse than Tesla. Should be at a minimum 4.5 and higher. Anything under 3 is close to clear coat failure.

  43. 1.5 turbo will be a lot slower off the line. Plus hybrid will last 10 times longer and be way more reliable. Honda made the 1.5 accord because it’s cheaper to make and people think it’s more reliable, which is false. It’s quite the opposite. People worry about the cost of batteries, but Honda warranties them for 8 years. By that time, batteries will become even cheaper. In 5 years, the hybrid will be cheaper to operate. Plus you are saving mpg with the hybrid. 1.5 is sluggish off the line. Hybrid is quicker because it’s instant power. 1.5 uses a crappy CVT. The hybrid has no transmission which is genius. Even though the hybrid sounds more advanced, it’s less complicated and a ton less moving parts than the crappy 1.5 turbo engine. Remember the 1.5 also has a turbo, intercooler, and a lot more parts that fail. Hybrid is simple design. Electric motors are basic and 10 times more reliable.

  46. Forrest Earnest It’s called Sonoma Green and the other is called Nardo Grey which is a very popular RS color. It’s also glossy and not Matte. 😀 You can also order any exclusive color you want too for an additional cost. Nogaro Blue would be my choice. That’s what I did on my RS3. There are lots of great Porsche, Bentley, Lamborghini colors to choose too.

  48. Yet the majority of people buying them will drive them normal. The car makes so much noise that if you go out and raise hell, you will definitely get in trouble. Nobody will use this car to its fullest potential. It’s all for bragging rights. For once I see more value in the C8. I always had Mustangs, but I like the fact that the C8 is more subtle and fast too. Get lots of traction without spinning the tires and pissing off people.
