  31. @ Have you worked on a TLX? Lots of plastics too. Most composites these days are amazing. It’s not like the plastics of 10 years ago. Acura V6 is amazing and built to last forever. Especially seeing its under powered. We do know the splines in the transfer cases are stripping. Honda corp has not revised the part and swapping in same part numbers. So it’s just gonna happen again. That’s why many are selling them. Acura was originally gonna use a dual clutch similar to one in NSX, but during COVID, parts got scarce, so Honda used the in house 10 speed and limited the V6 to 6000 max rpm, mainly due to torque capability on 10 speed was 350 at best. Honda had no choice. I remember talking to engineer on this and it’s what scared me away from buying it. Lots of people bought them and sold them right away once they found out car was designed to max out power under 360hp. It’s small ported heads and turbo is why. The good thing was the small ported heads heads and small turbo kept all the power at an instantaneous power from 1600 rpm all the way to 6k redline. Almost no turbo lag. The transmission was tuned in harmony to work flawlessly. They just weren’t too sure on how long it would last. Its rpm range is very playful. It’s just not high revving. Honda wanted to play it safe. A dual clutch would have been game changer. Then they could have opened up the heads more and raised power levels and rpm up to 7k, making 400hp. The surprise they didn’t see coming was the weak splines in the transfer case. So that’s something they need to address. I had a speed shop look at it and seeing if we can make them bigger and more durable. It’s a lost cause and would cost way too much. It’s too bad. I love the car, but it’s never gonna be a bulletproof drive train, other than engine. Engine will last forever. This is why we all got rid of them. Covid changed everything on it. Parts shortage strikes again.
