Religion isn't supposed to make sense though. Faith is irrelevant with regards to things that can be understood by reason, so a religion that makes sense will quickly go extinct :)

What made your fool mother simply assume you WOULD get married at all? Not everyone does, it makes no difference if you want to get married one day or not. If nobody is attracted to you, you're not getting married. If you're a guy that doesn't want to spend his whole life doing little else but working, you're also not getting married. That's all there is to it. I'm sure your mom was a nice lady but holy shit was she ever naive! Let me guess, she got married shortly out of high school and never needed to earn a living, even if she ever did work?

Actually, considering how many of us there are on the planet today, making food out of people kinda makes sense. That's especially true when you consider that most of the planet's life forms are NOT human, but need their chow nonetheless :)

Strange to hear Jordie talking like this. You ARE supposed to be afraid of death, self-preservation is a fundamental life function and absolutely essential for the survival of the species! Death is probably easier to cope with if you're very old and have spent a really long time (decades) being profoundly depressed. In that case, fuck it, get it over with--it ain't getting any better at that point! But even very depressed people who are young don't really want to die, they just want the pain to stop.
