If that were the case America and France would be in a world of trouble. Boris Johnson looks like he can throw down though lol

@jeremysmith8035 No really. This guy Macron has a habit of embarrassing himself and the country he represents. In the middle of a conflict which might affect the entire world what is he thinking that his words will have any kind of weight. He basically went there, got scolded by Putin and went home. A low level state department official from America would have commanded more respect than Macron did.

@easternperspective0244 If the west sends long range Ballistic missiles into Ukraine then the Russians will invade for sure. That is the entire fear that Ukraine will be used as a base at their doorstep. They will invade before those missiles are operational. That's literally the worst idea I've heard in a while.

Hopefully the Azeris are able to catch some of the war criminals from the 1990s and give them a proper crimes against humanity trial.
13
@Papapiers1588. It was a terrible situation there for nearly 30 years. Looks like the terrible situation has come to an end.
11
To be fair civilians aren't being targeted and mass slaughtered in Ukraine. In Gaza they are. Ukraine is fighting a war (men vs men) Gaza is more like an extermination.
11
If you're going to be "trapped" Antalya is a pretty damned good place to be lol Hell I wish I were trapped in Antalya right now.
11
Seems like it was EU money with gas buying which allowed the Azeris to buy all their weapons. They give the Azeris real support and they give Armenia "words" of encouragement.

Is it just me or does anyone else get the sense that Macron meeting Putin is like a little kid in the principle's office getting a lecture.
9
@sfullernj It's actually a very rational whataboutism because they're referring to the law. Laws which aren't applied equally stop being laws. If you got arrested for something your neighbor was also openly doing (with no consequence). A whataboutism would also be your first line of defense.
9
@Rakeseh Gadde, You're literally talking about one of the most destabilizing regimes on the planet. If he wanted peace, he could easily start by stopping his nation's occupation and economic exploitation of so many African countries. Apologizing for the Algerian genocide (which Macron refuses to do) would also be a good place to start.
9
It isn't merely an accusation. He is quite literally guilty of it.
8
In hindsight it is interesting to watch a man now known as "Genocide Joe" accusing others of genocide.
7
@sruligertner Israeli jets never went in and out of Iran. Even the Israeli military says their jets never entered Iranian airspace. Are you just ignorant or are you a liar? Which is it?
6
@UrsTrulyRakesh Well the idea that Macron is a catalyst for peace is a strange proposition.
6
@michaelbinney9913 There have been plenty of wars around the globe in the past decade. None of which saw a civilian vs armed male kill ratio like Gaza. None of them were literally even close to it. More civilians were killed in Gaza in 2 weeks, than all the conflicts in the entire world combined since 2020. Including the huge nearly two year war between Ukraine and Russia. So no, no one has forgotten any of those wars including Yemen (which was horrible.) But none of those conflicts have the shock value of the conflict in Gaza where you have a high tech military which is literally going out of it's way to slaughter civilians. The world hasn't seen something like this since WW2.

@conorryan5983 At what point do we the people bear responsibility as well for allowing our leaders (using our tax dollars) to go around the world slaughtering poor people? Yes the government lied to us about Iraq but what did we learn? We cheered and clapped while they completely and utter destroyed Libya years later. We'll probably cheer and clap while they do it to some other random third world nation in a few years time. Again I'm not too sure about things in the UK but here in the US it's business as usual.
5
@לאונידאוסטרובסקי-ט3י Absolutely positive, all you have to look at are the numbers both Ukraine, Russia and international organizations are putting out. Even on the highest end estimate, the civilian deaths in the nearly 2 year huge Ukraine/Russia war has seen less civilian deaths than the IDF killed in Gaza in two weeks. This is a demonstrable fact. You can be pro Russia, you can be pro Ukraine. But both sides on this debate agree that this is an old fashioned war, where you have groups of armed men fighting other groups of armed men. What Israel is doing however is essentially bombing the living hell out of women and children from far. Very different.
5
@mastdream2043 Yes unlike France the UK is smart enough to understand it's place in the world order. They don't run around playing pretend superpower and get embarrassed.
5
@JeDxDeVu Quite the opposite. This case wasn't about if Israel is committing genocide or not, that case is different and will take 2.3 years (which Israel will probably lose considering the amount of evidence against them) This specific case bought in by South Africa was to prove to the court that potential genocide might be happening and if South African can demonstrate enough evidence it is, the court will rule for it to be stopped immediately. Apparently the court found South Africa's case to be compelling and ordered Israel to stop the abuses. South African won the case.
5
@dannyarcher6370 Except what you're saying is demonstrably false. The amount of evidence is staggering.
4
@dannyarcher6370 It seems you have no idea what this proceeding was about. This wasn't a court case on if Israel is committing genocide or not. South Africa's case was that there enough evidence going on that the court should should open a case to prove if there is or isn't genocide. Not to mention the secondary issue of the court ordering Israel to stop any act which breaks the convention. The case which will determine if Israel is or isn't guilty of genocide needed this ruling to get started. It will take about 2-3 years. Aside from influence, threats and intimidating. I'm not sure how Israel is going to win that case considering the overwhelming amount of evidence. So no, the judges didn't disagree with me. You simply don't even understand what this case was about. I doubt you even watched the proceedings leading up to this ruling or even bothered reading South Africa's 82 page complaint briefing sent to the court. You are obvious making an emotional assessment of the situation based on what you want to be true more so than what is true. Unfortunately for you, facts don't care about your feelings, nor does that law.
4
@לאונידאוסטרובסקי-ט3י Yes they took 200 hundred hostages. In response to Israel illegally taking over 7000 Palestinian hostages. Many of them women and children. The difference is (we know this through testimony from hostages released from both sides recently) Israel has abused, starved, physically beaten and in some cases raped their hostages. The hostages released by Hamas said they were treated well. So yes, it is very different.
4
You expect BBC to actually not draw a false narrative on something?
4
@KavkAzeri I'd hardly call this payback. When Armenia invaded this region in the 1990s it brutally ethnically cleansed 800,000 civilians. The Azeris to their credit aren't behaving like that.
4
@WW3_Soon It doesn't mean either. This court case wasn't about if Israel is committing genocide or not, that ruling will take 2-3 years. This case was legally and specifically if there is enough evidence for the court to issue an order to stop due to the potential for genocide. The court obviously found the evidence of overwhelming that there is a huge potential that genocide is happening and ruled in favor of South Africa by issuing an order to stop. The way you're trying to spin this to absolve Israel of it's crimes is quite ridiculous.
4
Another question I have is how can a person who's actions were responsible for the needless death of 1 million humans be sitting on a T.V.. show playing the moral high ground and not in jail for war crimes?
4
@Jecel Butalid, I'm fairly sure Jesus doesn't approve of taking people's homes by force, killing women and children, putting millions of people in an open air prison and letting them rot there, Jesus would also frown upon ethnic cleansing. I'd imagine Jesus also wouldn't look to favorably upon people who defend these actions and help embolden the people behind these crimes.
4
@Yassified3425 So we're at a point where people are going to brag at how multicultural their nation is? Perhaps when Azerbaijan gets as rich as your nation to a point they have to bring in slave labor by the millions like you have they can brag too right?
4
@CrunchM CM, back then France was also a respected and feared nation. Now it's just a third rate power pretending to play superpower. I don't think Putin gave him much respect.
4
@paganaye The idea of Macron Vetoing Ukraine joining Nato is insanity. No chance France takes a move like this without the blessing of the United States.
3
Letsgobrandon has been replaced my man. The new catch phrase is "Genocide Joe"
3
First off it's Azerbaijan land according to all international law and every nation on this planet. Also they did fight for it in 2020 and they got slaughtered.
3
@mmp0084. I think you have the situation backwards. It was the Armenians who invaded this area in the 1990s and brutally ethnically cleansed 800,000 civilians. The Azeris haven't behaved this way when they retook the region. The only genocide anyone is aware of in this region was what the Armenians did in the 1990s.
3
@denizb.4142 Odd comment Deniz. Nato didn't invade Iraq, Libya, Syria and Afghanistan did. America did with nations who were willing to follow, none of those were Nato operations. Serbia was more so a Nato operation but lets be honest, it was one of the few times we've seen western intervention somewhere which actually had a positive result.
3
@omgnowairly So you're saying it is shocking to see people stuffed into a concentration camp for 2 decades to build homemade weapons? Okay, that is an interesting take on the situation.
3
@Ariri, unfortunately in many of our countries these are the only types of politicians we have.
3
@generalripper7528 No I'm not British, the Brits too are a third rate power. The difference is the Brits are aware of this reality while France is still under this assumption they're some worldwide heavy weight. This is why you rarely see Britain play pretend super power only to get slapped in the face over and over like France.
3
@Amen.Ahmed1 I lived in Florida for 2 decades. I've also been to Antalya at least 5 times on vacation. As far as beauty, safety and an overall place to visit. Florida doesn't really compare with Antalya.
3
@Emmanuel51219 Their planes didn't enter Iranian airspace. Their missiles. Looks like most of em got shot down.
3
@sergeyb8 Me personally I don't think it should have anything to do with Ukraine. But if you look at it from how the Serbian point of view the situation changes. Most people (not just Serbians) see this as a proxy war between Nato and Russia. The Serbians having been bombed by Nato not too long ago obviously feel a certain way about it. I doubt Serbians have any issues with Ukrainians but the fact Ukraine is being backed by Nato is pushing the Serbians to feel the way they feel. Again I'm not saying I agree with their point of view, I'm just trying to explain why they feel the way they do. Me personally I am heavily pro Ukraine but that doesn't mean I can't understand why other people wouldn't be.
3
@sergeyb8 Actually there are entire fields of study to try to figure out why serial killers do what they do. That is what humans do, they try to figure things out. I don't think anyone is trying to change your opinion on the matter. I know Slavs aren't known for this but you need to check your emotions and try to be more rational.
3
I'm not sure if hanging out safely with western journalists while ordering the deaths and executions of thousands is "brave." Perhaps you and I have a different definition of what the word brave means. Who knows.
2
@appletree6741 No it didn't. That is demonstrably false. The fact people even bother spouting such nonsense is amazing in itself.
2
@AKDHFR Actually it seems like Russia took a page out of the western playbook that this video complains about. Make up a fake threat and use it as justification for an invasion of another country. In this war Ukraine is Iraq and Russia is America.
2
@Yassified3425 To have an army you need to be a country. It is surreal to see an illegal militia force with things like anti air weapons and tanks.
2
BBC is a huge spreader of fake news. Not sure they'll catch up to CNN though.
2
@sruligertner how can you claim they don’t have an air defense system when said system just blunted an attack the other night? What are you smoking ?
2
@neekola88 You forgot the add the part about Serbia trying to ethnically cleanse the non Serbian civilians there.
2
Sounds like a workable solution to me. But if you look at the history of this conflict Armenia has never exactly been rational when offered terms. Azerbaijan actually offered them a MUCH MUCH better deal in the late 1990s and they rejected it. They'll probably reject this one too and end up with nothing.
