I think Sweden is toast, Finland should probably apply for membership on their own. They should get in easily. Finland is actually the one geographically important for Nato anyway.

Excellent comment @Fuadrahaman7040
15
@ouache A lesson in that you shouldn't be invading your neighbor's internationally recognized territory and ethnically cleanse 800,000 civilians. Also some historical claim to land does not make ethnic cleansing, illegal invasions and war crimes okay.
14
Imagine this guy had some something similar vs the LGBT community? He'd be jail with the key thrown away. Hell they'd probably go after his family too.. The wonderful land of Sweden where people are allowed to speak their minds (provided what they speak is in line with what the elites want them to speak.)
13
Not sure if Sweden joining Nato has anything to do with this conflict.
11
@notispanos32 Greece is the biggest country in the world? hmmm Okay there champ debate over.
7
@Arek Bangsal, You don't have to send troops somewhere to point out the fact you aren't happy with a situation.
6
@notispanos32, larger nations have bigger fish to fry right now than worrying about some small banana republics subjective problems.
6
@MrPatgiard Yup we've been duped, it is probably a bot. A lot of bots on this comments section for what ever reason.

@christopherchristianvanlan1809 Odd that you seem to think you know what the Ukrainians need better than the Ukrainians themselves. They've been pretty vocal about how they appreciate Turkey's military support when compared to most EU nations. How many high tech weapons like drones have EU nations sent Ukraine again? England which is a non EU European nation is really the only one who has stepped up big time. So yea, your comment is pretty ridiculous in any metric used.
5
@scottbuckley6578 That is a bad argument. Considering this country hasn't sent any military equipment to the Palestinians. Yet very early in the war acted before anyone in EUrope did and sent high end drones to Ukraine. Drones which the Ukrainians later made songs and music videos about. Facts>your feelings. Few nations or civilizations around the world would simply turn a blind eye to suffering just because of the religion or ethnicity of the people suffering. This I'm embarrassed to say is something we in the west do. Perhaps I should be asking you why you were so vocal against Ukraine being invaded but seem to have zero issues with Palestinians being stuffed into concentration camps? Our grandchildren are going to wonder why the entire world hates us and turned their backs on us. Hopefully someone shows them a picture of you to elaborate why.
4
@Sergie Dynko, Last I checked Ukrainian terrorist organizations haven't killed 30,000 people in Russia over the past few decades. I'm also fairly sure the Ukrainian government didn't give Russia the coordinates of the people you claim are terrorists for attack. Not to mention Russia is literally trying to take civilian cities not just bombing terrorists in mountains. It's literally impossible to compare the two.
4
@Evil Babai, Why would anyone condemn the bombing of terrorist hide outs in the mountains? I mean aside from the terrorists themselves.
4
@kokosbluete3259 I followed that conflict. I didn't agree with their bombings but they did bomb military targets. They weren't blowing up hospitals like Israel does. So I fail to see how that would be any type of rational analogy in this conversation.
4
Yea if they were real men they'd go in with swords right? lol
3
@clakkent8862 Yea 100,000 people on merchant boats crossing the back straight into a nation at war with the nation occupying them controlling said waters. Rioghttttt. Or maybe Santa Claus and the tooth fairy will be called into help as well.
3
@nguyenvanphu8217 Yea with the help of Iraq. The government in Northern Iraq is actually helping the Turks target the terrorist camps.
3
They already have stingers. The difference is the Turkish military isn't as inept as the Russian military in Ukraine.
3
@evilbabai7083 Yes and the Kurdish regional government of Northern Iraq gave Turkey the green light to bomb the terrorists. Not only gave the green light but also gave the Turks the coordinates. Are you saying the Kurdish regional government in northern Iraq doesn't have the right to ask for help in bombing terrorists groups hiding in their mountains? Is that the argument you're making?
3
@mizzboomorris3276 Sweden not being able to join Nato really doesn't have much to do with the recent incident. All that incident did was give Turkey an excuse to veto them as they have other (some what valid) reasons to veto them. The Swedish government has made childish miscalculation after childish miscalculation. They're really in a rough spot not.
3
@judykinsman3258 Sweden seems to understand even less what an open democratic society with freedom of expression is either. Sweden has some of the roughest "thought crimes" on the books you can find. In Sweden ordinary citizens are terrified of speaking their minds on hotbutton issues their overlords tell them they can't or their lives will be ruined. The difference is Turkey doesn't run around screaming how important freedom of expression is while at the same time being one of the biggest offenders of freedom of expression. Turkey has massive issues which can and should be talked about. But throwing mud at them simply trying to hide the ridiculousness of what Sweden has been up to is simply intellectually lazy.
3
@cssourcepl Well considering half their government is Kurdish, yea.
2
@Merecir Or he is working for the Russians. Or the Swedish government egged this on as a way to bow out of their Nato membership without having to deal with the fallout of backing out? Or the Swedish government is just ridiculously stupid. All three are possible but number three seems the most plausible.
2
And how would they move 100,000 people into a warzone without Russia noticing or stopping it? Look at a map. Ukraine's problem isn't manpower, they actually outnumber the military force massed at their border. Their problem is lack of high end military equipment.
2
No one has been killed nor has there been violence. However Sweden will see the mother of all violence if they can't get into Nato because of this and Russia invades them.
2
@xanatax1844 With Finland that is the case. In the end I think Turkey will lift it's veto on Finland. Sweden is a completely different story I have a feeling Turkey will not lift the veto on them.
2
@randykelley380 Asking people to condemn Hamas is like asking people to condemn the rape victim for scratching her rapists face. Do you have any idea how insane that is? It would make more sense to condemn the people who stole their homes, slaughtered their children and then stuffed them into the planet's only concentration camp for the past 2 decades. Facts>Your feelings.
2
@tuananhphung577 The Kurdish government of northern Iraq also calls them terrorists.
2
@artwarrior9965. Well I can tell you he didn't steal their land and stuff them into concentration camps. Sure the plight of Kurds is something which should be talked about, for sure they dont' have it good. But to compare that to what the Palestinians are going through is insanity. It is like comparing a simple bout of sneezing to the bubonic plague. Very ridiculous analogy that folds like origami upon inspection.
2
@evilbabai7083 Yes but Bagdad is not in control of nothern Iraq. There is a legal entity which is called the Regional Kurdish government of Northern Iraq which controls the reason. The same regional Kurdish government who gave the Turks the green light and also gave them the coordinates of the terrorist camps. Bagdad will complain anytime the Kurdish regional government in the north takes any sort of decision without consulting them. They as you all know believe the Kurdish regional government shouldn't exist. Do you agree with Bagdad that the only place the Kurds have self rule shouldn't exist or have the ability to make decisions pertaining to their own security? Is that the argument you're making here? If so, boy you must really hate the Kurds.
2
Imagine pegging your political stance on a topic based on some random movie from 30 years ago. Pure genius.
2
@vanelruxys8358 It's fairly obvious at this point you're a bot. I've seen this comment like 20 times lol
2
Nice to see Canadian citizens stepping up and doing the exact opposite of what their government has done and helped Ukraine. If not for the Canadian government's actions Ukraine would probably have about 4 times the amount of drones they currently have. Thanks Canada, for ensuring Ukraine has a harder time defending itself.
2
Nice to see there are people old enough to remember that fool me again bit by Bush.
1
You're right he didn't mention the fact Israel is the only country on the planet that has a concentration camp. The largest one in world history.
1
@Nilsan767 Yes but they're not the ones claiming they have freedom of expression while at the same time being one of the biggest offenders of it like Sweden. They're pretty open about what they are and how they conduct themselves. At least they don't have thought crimes like Sweden does.
1
@canellamariastefanis7122 Good answer.
1
The vast majority of the planet (which isn't Muslim) is with the Palestinians on this issue. The minority (the west) which is pro Israel are the ones making this a "muslim thing." When the rest of the world (rationally) sees this as a "concentration camps is bad" thing.
1
@Nondens Because the Iraqi government isn't really complaining. They seem quite content that Turkey is bombing terrorists hiding in their mountains.
1
What choice does the EU have? The EU simply doesn't have the ability to defend itself. The only three Nato members with the ability to wage war in a long and large scale all happen to be non EU nations.
1
IMagine our president Biden giving a speech without reading it on a teleprompter? lol
1
@khirill782 To be fair Kosovo was Serbia. Last I checked someone else controls it now.
1
I'd hardly call accepting refugees into your country in the 1900s then those refugees stealing your homes, murdering your kids and sticking you into concentration camps as "starting a war."
1
@alexvisser4542 yea because something that happened over 100 years ago shoudl stop him from speaking up against concentration camps. Is that your argument? According to that logic, any nation could simply murder an entire ethnic group and no country could say or do anything because every country if you go back far enough did something terrible. Bravo Alex, you're a real genius.
1
@c.s.4273 You're right the west is arming the PKK. But the guy has a point too. In trying to get rid of Assad, Turkey with the help of saudi Arabia and America sent in a lot of terrorists into Syria to get rid of Bashar.
1
Is he wrong?
1
@marielanganas3398 Are you referring to that thing that happened in Cyprus where the majority on the island tried to exterminate the minority on the island Nazi style? Then the Turks had to intervene to stop it? They stopped that massacre, maybe they can stop this one too.
1
@clakkent8862 You're literally talking about something that is quite literally impossible. Not only impossible but makes absolutely zero sense to do so. Random childish insults wont' change the fact you're unable to account for your insane post.
1
@uneverknow8154 Yup much different.
1
@Herman Jefferies, I don't think anyone is blaming the country. They seem to be blaming the government of said country who (right or wrong) are perceived to have supported this. Perception is everything and I honestly would find it fabulously hilarious if Sweden were left out of Nato because of this. Cautionary tale of what happens when woke idiots decide to run a country. Banning people and pressuring them to not have rational discussions about gender? That is fine. Ruining people's lives for claiming men are men and women are women? Again just fine, thought crimes must be rooted out and punished right? Stopping the burning of a book which could derail your entire security posture and put the nation at risk? Well that's just freedom lol You can't even make up this level of stupidity if you tried.
