  8. Looks like warranty repair by experienced tech who knew this bandaid fix wouldn't work. I'm surprised he got it as clean as it is given he was only paid warranty time. On a CP job , the sludge would stop teardown as only a fresh engine will fix Maintenance Malfeasance

  13. Rare 7 liter block [$3900 new @ SD] mite be worth cost of fix. Aluminum is eternally weldable if cracked/broken. Then an expert sleeve replace. And Poof ,all that's needed is one piston , rod and rings, and 505HP is yours for fun and games.

  18. Always put a new Delco in when job created access. New wires , Plugs , Coil too. Good preventative maintenance on nitemare design. Optispark was attempt to improve timing and EFI accuracy , which it did almost as good as crank/cam trigger does these days

  21. Wow, a good Iron 6.0 short block. Pay the man and haul it off for scrub, cam,rod & crank brngs. Add fresh wide gap rings for 10-20 psi boost or bottle. Keep it under 6K rpm for you daily's 600+ HP fun runs.

  35. Only Toyota has a successful CVT. It has a separate launch gear to give normal Toyota 300,000 mile service. There's no excuse for selling expensive Junk to unsuspecting Pubic.

  36. Nothing wrong with C4s folks. But oh what (not) fun fixing LT1/4 engines is. Overheated means it Must be removed and stripped bare for inspection. All friction parts save crank(hopefully) will need replacement. If aluminum head warped (likely) good reason to substitute AFR or similars and abit more roller cam should put it over 400 crank HP and still be fun Street action. Someone will expend 50-70 hrs (or more) just to fix and reinstall the engine. You want to use impeccable parts , because these engines are extremely labor intensive to do any fix. At least it's not in a Camero.......

  37. Excellent Coyote 5.0 is evidence of GM Genius developing LS/LT with K.I.S.S. theory . Not only half as pricey, but in displacements to 7L. FoMoCo's 2020 Godzilla got them back in the HP/Displacement, simplicity program. More use of it would be good for repower markets, tho.

  38. Subaru Engines have same inherent weakness split case motors share. Bore, crank brng dimensions distort .002 or more @ hi HP outputs. Available solutions will improve reliability. MotoIQ has short on theirs. Expect 5 figure costs.

  42. Not uncommon for BMW's getting scrapped vs expensive repair . If Repaired owners often trade shortly thereafter. Not just a BWW thing. Many Euro's suffer same fate in N.A.s exorbitant parts/labor costs. Especially if vehicle deemed long-term unreliable

  45. Ya, 4.0s actually holdover from AMC 4.2 of yore. Cyl heads and blocks interchange allowing FI update on old AMC JEEP engines or slight displacement increase on newer jeeps !

The current US Air Force B-52 , in service since 1950s as an example 😎, has been ok'd through the 2040s. Grandsons of original pilots now fly metal over 70 yo. A well funded budget is all it takes to aquire/make parts and pay the craftsmen.

  49. Comments on 7.3 Godzilla internal failures are unsubstantiated by 1st hand experiences. AKA : Internet B.S. Aftermarket support is ramping up despite low production compared to LS/LT. Crates are available in $7,500 range (Jegs, etc) are popular for prodigious HP potential and even larger displacement than LS/LT can provide (about 7.4l max)
