The US had more interest in Europe and used the Marshal Plan to spread American brands, goods, loans, and services around the globe following WWII. That could have happened in the Middle East, but there wasn't support for it back home in the US or in NATO. It's easier to limit the cost by installing a US-backed puppet government and only investing in and securing the infrastructure supporting oil and natural resources. Mentioning the Middle East would require you to address the destabilization and imperialism. Money, investments, and economic growth are the main ingredients in stabilizing any country. If most of the citizens in that region didn't have so much wealth inequality, they'd choose to live the Dubai standard of living rather than being in a state of constant armed conflicts.

  16. Although they haven't confirmed the last two shootdowns were from the CCP, I still don't see why any adversary would target the most militant and trigger-happy nation on earth. Unless this is to cause political damage or gauge a response, this doesn't seem like a wise tactic to collect intelligence. Any operations considered "hostile" with remote connections or links to China, Russia, Iran, or North Korea will make international headlines and cause a forceful reaction from the US.

India would definitely be a preferred US ally against China and Russia, but there are no mutual-defense packs or solid commitments to provide assistance like with Ukraine. EDIT: I might have answered my own question since a similar situation occurred during the Cold War and the Soviet-Afghan War. Any conflict that Russia, China, Iran, or North Korea engages in will almost always affect US interest.

We could look into those issues, but 1) US Customs and Border Patrol isn't protecting the Ukraine Russia border; 2) There is no "America's Inflation," all first-world economies in the EU, UK, Japan, South Korea, and Australia are experiencing higher inflation and supply-chain issues; and 3) there is no "Durham Report" released. That was a court filing that only FoxNews and conservative media are going insane over. All of those issues sound like distractions.

  33. It's a courtesy because they have personal dealings and gentlemen's agreements with foreign leaders, and can advise future presidents. Just like when JFK had Eisenhower advise him on the Cuban Missile Crisis because he'd previously dealt with Nikita Khrushchev.
