@cornbreadfedkirkpatrick9647 Whom do you mean by "he?"

A US Nickel is now worth about six cents in Nickle and Copper. https://www.coinflation.com/coins/1946-2007-Jefferson-Nickel-Value.html

Great video! Free speech is critical. Nazis are horrible, but it is best to let them speak so that we know whom to shun in our private lives. Sunlight is often the best disinfectant. And if we restrict hate speech today, we might find legitimate, peaceful political dissent illegal in the future.

I'll bet Max had abs of steel! :)

Back when Democrats believed in carrying concealed handguns for self defense...

Well, if enough-fez'nt enough....

Dang, saw the lobster and I hoped this was about Jordan Peterson. I like his stuff! :)

Ya know, Lobsters are pretty genetically different from us. But still very distantly related in the evolutionary tree. But even animals so different from us compete with each other for reproductive success. Some lobsters are more desirable to mate with than others, apparently. Humans are the same way. We compete with each other for mates. Interesting stuff!

Attack it again, Sam.

@mariekatherine5238 I have no idea what that means.

Despite all that bird habitat preservation, the US has lost hundreds of species of birds over the last century. Reminds me of a Milton Friedman quote: "If you put the federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert, in 5 years there'd be a shortage of sand."
1
Waterbirds, on the other hand, are doing relatively well in the US, thanks largely to private wetland preservation efforts such as Ducks Unlimited. My main objection to this video is that it seems to be promoting big government. The results of big government are nearly always bad.

In about 1969, I was a young kid, and I got a toy SR-71 made of red plastic. It was made in China. I feel as though this was China's way of saying: "we know about your spy plane, and we are going to make money from your people while exposing your state secrets."

Canada is a cool country! I'm a US citizen, but I have a lot of relatives in Ontario. Canada makes my top 2 list of nations! :)

@crataeguscrusgalli You only get credit or blame for your own actions, words and accomplishments. You deserve no credit or blame for the actions of others, even if they are ancestors. However, you might deserve some credit or blame for the actions of your children, if your parenting helped them do great things, or blame if your bad parenting contributed to their bad behavior.

So, what you were saying is that Gimli is for when you come up just a bit short? :)

Apparently, this is not the Fisher of Fisher Body, a carriage and car body maker in Detroit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fisher_Body

Crash test smartie.

Imagine if the President's office today were as weak and limited in power as was the Presidency under the Articles of Confederation? Wouldn't it be better if Trump had less power? Maybe we should go back to the Articles of Confederation? Imagine a smaller, less intrusive federal government? Wouldn't that be a very good thing?

Great video. Thanks! Great loss, but it pales in comparison to the fire at the Library of Alexandria. Another worse fire to History was the recent fire in the historical archives in Brazil.

Look at the bright side: nearly all of the dead were politicians or government employees!

I always feel ambivalent on Memorial Day. I want to honor the bravery and the sacrifice of the fallen, and express gratitude to them. But I don't want to be glorifying war, which at least half the time is not about defense of the people and the nation, but instead about the advantage of special interests and corrupt politicians. War is often a racket, and I don't want to encourage young men to go in to the military when so many will just be used as cannon fodder for the advantage of the powerful. Even those who return from war are often emotionally and psychologically crippled by PTSD. I want to honor the fallen troops by working to create fewer of them in the future.

And now people inject Botulism toxin in to their faces! Ever hear of botox? Relaxes the wrinkles!

We owe a lot to James Watt.
1
@1pcfred He's dead, anyway, and can't perceive your lack of gratitude.

@craigkdillon Unless the records of the past have been sent down the memory hole...
1
@craigkdillon We are hurt if we are lied to about our past. We live a lie. We are manipulated by those who tell us the distorted view of the past.

The FDA kills more people each year than it saves. It delays good drugs from getting to market, which kills people. The numbers it saves are over-stated because today, information gets around quickly among doctors and via the internet. We have a right to put anything in our bodies we choose, so the FDA also violates our rights. Thousands of dying people each year are prevented from taking experimental drugs, a few of which we would discover to be effective. FDA is part of the general trend towards socialism that began in the 1920's. It hurts people.

Great history video! :)
1
Wow! Cool story! :)
1
Why do you conclude with "a victim of the powerful wealthy of the gilded age" when he was killed by a corrupt politician? Sounds like political bias, to me.
1
History Guy, you are a great teacher, and an entertaining speaker. I love your videos. But a great teacher teaches in such a way that their own political position is very hard to discern. A great teacher teaches the controversy, from all major positions, and lets the student make up their own mind. It is becoming clear to me that you are on the left. Please do your best to keep political bias out of your presentation. You risk losing a third of your viewers.

Some people want to eliminate the Nickle, today. The Nickle is an endangered specie.

Gold confiscation under FDR was a major injustice, and an economic mistake as well.
1
Prohibition, which her husband supported in WYO, was another major mistake.
1
I'm sure that was what Stefonius above was thinking of! :)

That was a really good one! Thanks! :)
