  3. The problem is that with both of those options the Arabs who call themselves Palestinian refuse to accept them. For the one state, there actually ARE Arab Muslims who are part of the Knesset. But they refuse to work with anyone, and the ONLY time they joined a coalition was to oust Bibi Netanyahu. For the two-state option, they already have the Gaza Strip and there was SOME progress towards making part of the West bank another self-governing area much like Bangladeshi after the first Inda-Pakistani War. But as usual, the Palestinians refuse to accept Israel's right to exist and violated their promises to renounce violence.

What the so-called "experts" fail to address is that the deflationary periods is the system self-correcting for the artificial and excessive inflation. Basically, the larger the inflationary policies by market manipulators, the bigger the deflationary correction becomes.

Depressions ALWAYS occur after periods of artificial inflation caused by bad monetary policy by central planners to game the system. Hence, depressions and deflation are natural market corrections.

Local agreements don't get to be abrogated simply on account of the rest of the world unilaterally deciding on a set of principles the locals didn't mutually agree to.

  22. Batteries are very inefficient, losing just as much energy charging them as you get from storage. Just look at the capacity numbers as the temperature drops. This is true even of lithium-ion. The ONLY realistically viable cheap energy that happens to be clear is nuclear.

  35. Wow, if it wasn't for colonialism, most of those resource rich nations would still be impoverished. Thomas Sowell has done a very detailed analysis contrasting the parts of Africa that remained uncolonized with those that were. The standards of living today are quite drastic. Now, there is also a vast difference between the colonizing powers. The US, UK, and Protugesse former colonies are in vastly better shape than the Dutch, Belgian, and French former colonies. Spain's former colonies is somewhere in the middle.

  36.  @DasRaetsel  Not really. Bibi is who carried out the Oslo accords when he came to office in 1996. He made MANY concessions to the Arabs which they kept refusing to reciprocate. His current government's hard right positions is a direct result of his opposition caring more about defeating him than actually trying to build a functioning government. Only now with the threat at the door are they realizing how badly they screwed up.

Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and the Nordic Countries didn't do what China suggested and they had a better control of the spread than simply forcing people to say in their homes.
