Unfortunately, the ultra-wealthy profit way too much off of people being homeless.
1
And obese people are not able to walk or bike.
1
Yep, the US is getting stupider by the month.
1
But big capitalism always seems to confuse "a tax" with "attacks". Such taxes invariably touch off capital strikes and capital flight.
1
Or even Canada?
1
@SillyhAsH Yeah, Spanish and Cherokee.
1
Klik B And the US is full of stupidity.
1
Or destroys your entire life.
1
@southphillyexplorer But then debt collectors will go after you, your credit will be harmed, and then those creditors will get a court judgment against you, and most, if not all, of your assets will be seized.
1
You have an iron-fisted capitalist dictatorship in the US.
1
Not if Big Oil, big auto and big airlines have their way…
1
@neutrino78x Way to drink the far-right Kool-Aid.
1
@neutrino78x Those are right-wing talking points you are making, unfortunately.
1
@neutrino78x So you are in favour of the human species going extinct from climate change. And do you not realize that this is a public infrastructure project? There is no place for the profit motive in public projects. Whether you think it is a waste of money or not is irrelevant.
1
Because of cars. And then there's Via Rail here in Canada.
1
The US is a plutocracy. The ultra-rich have all the power and control over American society, and they are dead set against any mode of transport that is not the car.
1
@stanleykub248 That will only get collection agencies chasing after you, unfortunately.
1
@Nikioko The US is the only exception.
1
That's capitalist dictatorship for you. If you even threaten to get between a big corporation and its empty profits, it will immediately and ruthlessly exterminate you. It's like the mafia runs the US.
1
@marcbuisson2463 There is Instacart…
1
@bingli4927 i.e., The US government has been privatized.
1
And yet, no one will dare try to advocate for universal health care in the US because the big corporations dominating health care in the US will just ruthlessly exterminate such efforts.
1
Uh, CNBC, NO. https://youtu.be/LkH2r-sNjQs
1
I don't think they should. My perspective is that the era of cruising has come to a dramatic end.
1
Wait, there's a Florida in Brazil?
1
@francogiobbimontesanti3826 In which state?
1
@francogiobbimontesanti3826 Yep. There it is.
1
The western US has many, many, many more mountains than Japan has.
1
@anmolbargujar That's the problem. And it is a problem the capitalist elites do not want fixed.
1
Smells like financial predators to me. Get rid of capitalism, and you get rid of the financial predators.
1
Yep. The car is quite literally king in North America.
1
@Mars911 Only by being born rich.
1
@AndrewAddisonUniqueDrewski980 Ahem… https://youtu.be/WiI1AcsJlYU
1
You had better get this project done, for the sake of all.
1
@Anon-te6uq I only ever rode on Via Rail once.
1
So, the oil, auto and aviation industries have all collapsed. Could this finally mean high-speed rail will get its chance in the US?
1
Remember that inflation is largely due to corporate profits. It is one way that capitalism is trying to stop this project from being completed. Capitalism has been against high-speed rail in North America from the very beginning. Why else would you think that the vast majority of North Americans have no transportation option other than the automobile? Because of capitalism. And 1300 km? That is the total intended track length of this project, and it is also roughly the distance from Windsor, ON to Quebec City in Canada. This means if California's high-speed rail project is a success, it could encourage Ontario and Quebec to build a high-speed railway corridor there.
1
@xXx.....0007 The ultra-rich have just way too heavily divided the working class. That is how the ultra-rich keep their power over society.
1
Voltaic pile.
1
And the home of the GRAVE
1
The only things Canada shares with the US are a language and a border. That is it. Target already had a scarlet letter on it from my view when I first read an article titled "How Target found out a teen girl was pregnant before her father did". As soon as I read that article, I vowed to never shop at a Target score.
1
See? The US prefers to take more lives than save more lives.
