@cupchamp5 Not true. Look at the COVID-19 case recovery figures.
2
Public transportation is not supposed to turn a profit. Expecting otherwise is just idiotic.
2
@shadowmeister5432 Which is another extension of the ultra-rich not paying their fair share.
2
@marshmellowmoon7990 I am not referring to the Great Plains. I am referring to the Rockies, the Sierra Nevada, the Cascades…
2
It is not an autobahn if it has a speed limit. In the US, all roads have speed limits.
2
@bcubed72 But the profit motive is leading humanity down the path towards species-wide suicide from climate change. How in the hell is that supposed to be "GOOD"? Take your neoliberal propaganda elsewhere.
1
@Argonhubert A measure-zero exception.
1
@ncard00 Found the selfish corporate stooge.
1
@therealchoiboy Making the US a capitalist dictatorship.
1
Movies do not profit. Ever heard of Hollywood accounting? I would say just let Hollywood die.
1
It will not. The big fossil fuel and car producers will get it stonewalled.
1
That's triage. That's a basic tenet of medicine.
1
I am in Canada, and absolutely refused to set foot in a Target store.
1
Those were only the words of big corporations who were chomping at the bit to get fat empty profits from Canadian health care as well.
1
Fjb Atyoutube1 Daft of you to suggest that in the middle of a housing crisis. Attempting that will only result in homelessness.
1
@donaldkasper8346 We should not have to.
1
@jacuzzibusguy Except they're not actually the ones making such a choice. It is the "invisible hand of the market" deciding for them.
1
Good. Cheap. Fast. Choose only two of those.
1
Basically, 🇦🇺 was already a saturated market.
1
Precisely. Big corporations have always wanted bigger profits. 😒 I for one would rather not have the automobile be our only available method of mechanized transportation.
1
@easyrider3112 So you are in favour of accelerating the planet towards becoming completely inhospitable to human life, huh?
1
But the car remains king in North America.
1
@ncard00 Car manufacturers and fossil fuel companies have been powerfully reinforcing the lack of alternatives to automobiles in North America for decades, and they are not about to stop now.
1
@pauld.b7129 Nobody would use it because everyone already has a car.
1
They're only expensive because big corporations said so. In the near future, we are probably going to see millions of people start taking up arms against this kind of practice in the US, leading to an eventual outbreak of extreme bloodshed and destruction. Why do you think the US is so flush with guns?
1
@samsonsoturian6013 But they are inefficient and generate a ton of greenhouse gases. We really should be moving away from cars and planes.
1
@AlaskaErik So you would rather perpetuate the increase in greenhouse gas emissions and keep humanity on a path to collective suicide? Everything has its price.
1
@pandabearoceanpark It's because you instead have a capitalist dictatorship.
1
@Neville60001 No, urban North Americans.
1
@Neville60001 Unfortunately, maglev technology has turned out to be snake oil.
1
@samsonsoturian6013 The use, not the distribution.
1
@Neville60001 So then how come there are still only those two maglev tracks?
1
@MichkovsBurner Found the corporate stooge.
1
@Racko. Found the Big Oil stooge.
1
The US can't stomach Canadian-style healthcare because the big corporations in the US utterly despise it. But I would rather pay in time to access health care than to pay in money. Because everybody has time, while not everybody has money.
1
@RaiJolt2 But it's only for freight.
1
This is why I maintain a travel warning against the United States. The US is the biggest shithole in the world.
1
Two words. Wall. Street.
1
Because the ruling capitalist class made it next to impossible for the working class to retire!
1
The owner class stole all of it.
1
No wonder there's so much stupidity in the US.
1
4:15 - WTF…?
1
Betteridge's law of headlines says no.
1
Because. of. Capitalism. Capitalism profits off of keeping hungry and homeless people hungry and homeless.
1
Which means you're in the US. We don't have gallons here in Canada. We have litres.
1
Not if Big Oil has its way.
1
The answer to making North America more livable is not more cars. We need more public transport, and more walkable neighbourhoods on this continent.
1
Heck, I'd like to see kei-cars take off in North America.
1
Urbanists are against a world where every mode of transport other than the car is banned.
1
@truckercowboyed2638 Most people live in cities. Those people who do live in cities should have other options than driving to get around, but the ultra-rich suppress such options.
