I agree, equality of outcome is a bad idea, because that equality has to be manufactured, which is very difficult to do without engendering unintended consequences The counter-argument is, "equality of outcome encourages equality of opportunity". That may be so to some unimportant degree; but equality of opportunity is easier to do without engendering unintended consequences. So why bother with the relatively more difficult and ineffective solution??

If you're looking for a line, you've missed the point.

"not allowed to speak for the rest of the day"...so, is that supposed to be a significant penalty for speaking out of order like this?! Eh, not sure about the deterrent value of having to shut up for 24 hours...
1
The mayor of Eagle Pass is obviously woke! And a big part of the problem!
1
Whew, good thing you can't go to jail for doing something "disgraceful"! Obama should go to jail...but where's the justice in that?!? hehehe
1
It's been a long time since school was worth more than socialization--and they want to make sure it's not even worth THAT! When reason doesn't work...?...!
1
Hmm..."things that are BROADLY WRONG"...that's a curious phrase...
1
Whiton has a curious point: US state dept. reps end up representing the other country TO THE US, rather than the other way around! Consider the only reason for such a flip-flopped loyalty: corruption...money. The US reps are on the take...because...they can be...

I'd like a thoughtful president, because a thoughtful president can be patient, especially with the development of information. And only a thoughtful person can be considerate of others. The modern political circus is a concoction of the MSM. Their approach has ever been to caste politics as competition, i.e. you wanna "score points" against your opponent, or for your side. Conflict is so much more exciting than cooperation, but cooperation is what it SHOULD be, instead. Unfortunately, all this lies at the feet of the "disinterested voter", doesn't it? If the citizenry were sufficiently involved in the political process, most of this nonsense COULDN'T EVEN HAPPEN! "Self-rule" doesn't do well as a hobby...hehehe

War is where cognitive dissonance goes to relax.

A larger court makes each justice less influential, but no less important, since a split vote allows a smaller proportion of the court to make the final decision. It's been the way it is for a long time, and allows for a natural obstacle to shifts in political climate. The dems make the court leftist, then reps get in and START changing the court makeup to the right. So the balance of the court gently (well, maybe sometimes not so gently) varies slightly around center. We don't require judges to have neutral political sensibilities, only to be skilled enough to deliberately neutralize their necessarily modest political sensibilities for the purpose of rendering an objective decision. Ginsberg seems to have lost much of this skill.

Yeah, they bleeped it!

The lesson is to learn to think properly--but it won't be learned.
1
If the original sensationalized story was attention-getting, why couldn't their "self-correction" be just as attention-getting? Yeah, get smart CNN: lie to get a rise out of the public, then tell the truth--the shear contrast will be more attention-getting than the truth would have been, without the "lie" lead-in.
1
Well, it should go to court: the US should sue any of these localities for, IDK, subverting our democracy--yeah, that's the ticket; that's a popular charge these days. Or more seriously, insurrection. Eventually, if you have non-citizen voters, shouldn't you have non-citizen representatives to appropriately represent non-citizen voters? You know, "no taxation without representation".
1
Giuliani just advocated for citizen interference in police action! That's a statement of conscience from a super cop! Interesting...
1
That feeling that Candace mentioned, the feeling that "the time is right", is a hugely inspirational feeling. With such a perspective, action follows intent more immediately and directly, less self-consciously than when it doesn't feel like the right time. This is the necessary prerequisite to a potent, long-lived "movement". Oh, and such a great, respectful come-back coded in the phrase, "That's none of MY business..."!
1
We're being victimized by the emotional language promoted by the MSM. They dumb down all discussion as a side-effect of chasing ratings. So rioters revel in the self-excitement of emotional speech...they are training themselves to be stupid! That's how the stupid STAY stupid...training. The MSM COULD have showed us, by example, responsible civic discussion! But, NOOOOOOOOOOoooooo!
1
What is he talking about, "qualifications"? The constitution is clear on the requisite qualifications for the office of president, and Trump obviously meets them all. But it works: when you don't like the meaning of a statement, redefine the terms used in that statement. Viola! New meaning! Of course, this only works if nobody notices the redefinition effort.
1
These reporters are so clueless about the nature of "proof" vs "evidence" vs "fact" that they ask irrelevant, even distracting, questions. Maybe that's why there used to be a distinction between a "reporter" and an "investigative reporter". Important investigatory expertise is sadly lacking in the "reporter", who's actually a "news reader" playing investigator, necessarily incompetently.

Everybody has their pet dehumanizations; leftists just don't have anything more.
1
The male questioner starts his question by asking Jordan what he "believes", and ends asking, "what is the truth"! It's a linguistic device designed to enhance CONFUSION, since "belief" and "truth" are semantically quite distinct. The fallacious reasoning exhibited continuously by these news readers is the reason you don't promote letting idiots ask questions on TV. I mean the insulting implication is that the average person is NOT SMARTER than these dolts!
1
Jordan's a dumb jock! He let Fauci distract from his crucial question: what is the metric?! He's arguing about whether liberties have been lost, instead of pursuing the critical point: what's the number that signals success?!! It's the most important issue: if science was on the up and up, we'd be seeing numbers, metrics, measurements, statistics EVERYWHERE! Instead, we see NO NUMBERS AT ALL! That MEANS it's a scam.
1
"...background commentary that undercuts me..." is, I think, a reference to the democrat obstructionism, not somebody's tweets.
1
Health care is NOT a human right--it's a privilege of civilization. There are NO human rights which require another person to exercise; if you can't exercise a right all by yourself, then it's NOT a right. Booker's speech is just a load of gobbledegook.
1
Biological weapons seem to me the most devastating as they threaten to change the nature of any life that survives the short term.
1
What's wrong? The love of money is the emotion that drives rationality out-of-order. The media screeches in good times to generate viewership=money. The media is not able, inherently, structurally, to care about anything other than money.
1
"That's how it works!" And the corollary: If it doesn't work that way, then it doesn't work. There's really no excuse for the MSM not understanding how government is DESIGNED to function! They display their ignorance perpetually with these kindergarten criticisms of the president, and the arrogance of that ignorance distorts their every move into one of grotesque self-importance. Cartoonish...

Wait a minute: the Iraq war WAS a cakewalk! Even at the time, it was widely remarked how well and swiftly the war went. I've never heard it remarked that the Iraq war was challenging. So, is Gabbard saying war with Iran would be as easy?! I don't get it...amounts to fear-mongering...
1
"Life is precious" only to people live well. As far as Nature is concerned, any particular life is trivial! It's important to remember that life is only precious to PEOPLE because of holding certain, life-affirming, values. There is one variety of "people" that doesn't hold life precious: the psychopath.
1
Well, there's "homelessness", and there's "vagrancy", which latter USED to be a crime, of sorts, actionable, at any rate. Did the city give up on enforcing its own laws? You know, that's NOT a good look...
1
Uh, Obama froze the aid! Seems the only thing Trump could do was UNfreeze the aid. Subtle distinction?...hehehe
1
I know why you keep watching Bernie and the punching bag! Because it's weird to see the punched bag lower Bernie's glasses onto his nose, and then, on it's next swing, replaces them properly! It's a momentarily shocking fluke of reality: two "wrong"s made a "right"! hahaha I watch it over and over, too!
1
When churches get no tax break for knuckling under to the state, which "sells" them the tax exemption on the condition of "no pulpit politics", the churches will feel free to campaign from their pulpits--which is precisely what the tax break was designed to limit! THAT will really heat thing up!
1
The dems cheated the people, again! And the republicans helped. Witnesses would have been JUICY! hehehe
1
Interesting to see CNN commentators "channeling"...but, I'm not buying! Why do they think people watch for their opinions? Are they considering that people might be tuning in in the hopes of gleaning some actual information about what's going on in the world; and, perhaps viewers largely discount their precious opinions? Hmm, doubt it; human ego mitigates against introspection.

A reduction in unwanted children might be a benefit in the long run...

The catcalling thing was an analogy. What she indicated was she thinks Ben's offer of debate was disingenuous, which is a respectable leftist retort...men are always up to no good...to excuse her from debating.
1
The idea that you can't deserve credit until you deserve NO BLAME is exceedingly OBTUSE! What basis in logic can a semantic interpretation of such an idea rely upon?! The solution set is empty...this is the "gobsmacked" state...utter paralyzing incredulity...
1
"What evidence do you have that President Trump is a fucker of mothers?" Now THAT'S a question that would ring out in those hallowed halls of congress, eh? I think it would have, at least, involuntarily turned her head. hehehe
1
How can you buy something back that you didn't sell to begin with?! Jeez, politicians suck! The parasite class that destroys the host makes itself obsolete. Populism is the implosion of the parasite class.
1
Newt's right! As usual...
1
I don't think it's accurate to think of a company's workers as "wealth creators". The person who organized and operates the company is responsible for the company's performance. The performance of the employees figures into the equation, but the employees are creating ONLY their OWN wealth, by way of wages earned by selling their labor.
1
Donald Trump. Thickening skins and raising hopes around the world.
1
Trump should keep fighting the MSM! Who's done it before? Who can hold the MSM accountable? They've had it their way for a long time, with no voice large enough to go against them. Trump is the voice of the people, taking the MSM to task for giving us the Kmart version of the news instead of comprehensive coverage of things that matter to the American people.
1
There's no lines on the road! Is that common in Texas? How do you people drive that way?! hehehe
1
Deepfake?
1
Listening to Obama trying to construct a sentence is painful! hahaha...Obama's reputation is a fabrication of his speech writers...he's a bumbling fool without 'em...
1
Omarosa never crossed my mind, but it's a good fit!
1
Who said so? The anonymous writer? So you believe in ghosts, I see.
