What were you doing walking around that place at 2 AM?
4
I sure do hope so. I'd love to see the abandoned plants repurposed and create jobs for the residents. The problem Detroit isn't the only American city in this shape, but I think it's the worst. We have huge tasks ahead of us.
4
What on earth are the people on the radio saying? I can't understand word of it. Is there any other life form on the planet that trashes its living environment as much as humans?
4
Except at the beginning with the road all full of trash it doesn't look like a bad place. Smooth roads. Buildings seemed occupied and kept up not all boarded up and burned out. I'd hate to buy an expensive car and just park it on the street curbside, but it seems that's what a lot of people do.
4
Some people like that.
4
I keep thinking it'll get better but it only seems to get worse. Does Joe Biden ever visit here?
4
Always lots of nice cars parked on the streets. They have money for that.
4
Blacks need to start doing more for themselves instead of waiting for handouts from government or other organizations.
4
Definitely nothing like Detroit but certainly some seedy areas. No places in America should look like the hoods CharlieBo visits!
4
Do GM, Ford and Chrysler executives ever drive through these neighborhoods and see what the city has come to?
4
It's already happening in many cities across the country. Charlie Bo313 has lots of hood videos that look almost the same as Detroit: Camden, Newark, Philadelphia, Cleveland, New Orleans and more. But I have to admit, sadly, from what I can tell, Detroit is the urban decay granddaddy of them all.
4
We've got problems like this and what's all over the news? Antifa tearing down confederate statues! This country needs to get its priorities straight.
4
Trev: The song I was thinking about is more than 40 years old. In the 50s Gary was probably nice. Obviously you're not the only one who doesn't live there anymore.
4
Save the better ones and renovate them.
4
Good point.
4
Schools, too.
4
But would the people take advantage of the opportunity? That's the question.
4
Oh, dems love it. Feds send money. They spend it on themselves. Citizens get nothing.
4
The junk looks even worse with snow on it.
4
@Mardasee And this state's one of the most corrupt in the union.
4
Alex mma Blacks keep voting for democrats. You'll have nothing and like it. Stay down on the plantation. Maybe the black man will wake up some day.
4
Terry: White men built the city and provided jobs for a lot of people, blacks included. Black men have destroyed what was left after industry pulled out due to the high cost of labor and foreign competition.
4
Watch out for the open manhole covers and stray dogs.
4
No place in America should look like this or any other place Charlie Boo has documented.
4
No place in America should look like this.

These houses have been empty a long time. This didn't just happen yesterday.
3
I certainly hope not. I'd like to see Detroit revitalized. It takes jobs and industry to do it.
3
Regardless of economic conditions there's so many houses so big and so close together. I'm surprised they don't have more land with them, or didn't initially. I guess people in these neighborhoods like having neighbors close enough to look in their windows.
3
The new face of america. Lovely, isn't it? Why do so many of the houses have the porch posts knocked out? Do they have value? There's always a few homes still lived in and kept up among all the other carnage. Those people seem to be able to somehow hang on. A few still have a porch light on, but are obviously not lived in. This is what happens when American loses it's good jobs. Somebody made money on it, but not these folks.
3
There was a time when every one of these houses was lived in and well maintained. The vacant lots also held well kept houses. It didn't matter what race you were. It was a vibrant neighborhood of working people with money to spend. Notice the occasional house maintained and lived in as a few people are still able to hang on amidst all the carnage. As we spend trillions of tax dollars on senseless wars all over the globe, this is what's happening at home. It's not just Detroit, either. Take a look at Youngstown, OH, Irvington and Camden, NJ, Buffalo, NY and Flint, MI to name a few. You'll see much of the same thing.
3
Welcome to democratic paradise. Some people seem pretty well off with cars and motor homes.
3
Lots of room for improvement but not as bad as Detroit.
3
No one lives there anymore. A few street lights have been reactivated. There weren't any for a while.
3
@roberttharp1134 But Indiana is a red state.
3
Where's Gretchen Whitmer? I wonder if she watches Charlie Boo's videos. What a disgrace any part of America should be like this!
3
I was wonderring where these homes came from originally. Thanks for the information.
3
There's always a few homes still lived in and kept up surrounded by all the urban decay.
3
It's a tough call, IMHO. Cleveland is really bad.
3
I saw one very nice looking Mercedes sitting curbside in a very narrow street. I can't imagine parking an expensive car in a neighborhood like this.
3
Thank you.
3
Joe Biden sure as hell wouldn't.
3
Yes, with all the traffic, 1-way streets really need to be obeyed! :-)
3
It appears quite a few street lights have been installed. The f a while there were practically none operating.
3
@tobyjackman3212 Steel in Gary. Automobiles in Detroit.
3
This was three years ago. Has it gotten any better? Probably not. Does anyone ever notice all the steel porch posts knocked out of the abandoned houses? I presume they're stolen and turned in or scrap.
3
Troy: so, what are they? Please explain.
3
@notmebutyou8350 He's black so probably OK. A white guy should stay out of here.
3
Hang in there. I hope for your sake better days are coming.
3
@sarjim4381 Plenty of blacks had good jobs in Detroit, too, before the exodus of the auto industry. GM stubbornly keeps its headquarters there surrounded by so many abandoned GM factories. I have no idea why. Those still employed, I'm sure, commute to upscale neighborhoods out of town.
3
Ford Motor Company has bought the Michigan Central railroad station and is renovating it. 2500 jobs will be there when completed.
