  2.  @Grant6243  The AC-130U and models cannot fight in contested space but then again they are assigned to AFSOC to support special operations and not for front line fighting. The AC-130 is far more useful and deadly and the new models even carry air to ground missiles.

  7. ​ @MrPreparator Radar is not picking up a helicopter behind terrain anyway. When I flew in C-130s we used to hug the landscape routinely in valleys avoiding radar in Red Flag exercises to great effect and on the Talon I and II's actively jam F-16s that come within visual range.

  17. I was born in 1980 and grew up on US Navy bases, not once was my father out to sea for over 6 months even during operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. The 9 month deployment is Washington DC policing the sea lanes for countries that pay us zero. Americans don't require imports, other countries require our exports.

  18. You need an air force guy on here. Of course the USAF knew the Ukrainians were pushing, they use Rivet Joint aircraft and satellites. The USAF knows everything that is going on regardless If you tell them or not. Anyone thinking Ukrainians are doing these maneuvers without D.C. knowing is full of themselves. United States is running this war using stubborn Ukrainian generals and poorly equipped and poorly trained Ukrainian troops.

  19. There was no such argument. The US Army lobbied to make their own fixed winged aircraft and ended up making an attack helicopter as a side effect. Congress on behalf of the US Army forced the USAF to make the A-10. Since then it has become a jobs program nothing more. The history of this airframe is crystal clear. Even attack helicopters would not exist if the Army was permitted to produce its own fixed wing aircraft.

Statistically the F-15E, F-16, and B-1 conducted far more missions in Afghanistan and Iraq. Only people suffering from a low IQ would be promoting the A-10 or a corrupt politician that wants that welfare job in his district on the back of the USAF's unit readiness.

Be sure of your position because such enabling could lead to you or your family being drafted due to a lack of readiness and you will have no one to blame but yourself. You can either side with corrupt politicians or you can side with the military that knows what it needs for mission readiness.

Have looked at polls in Muslim countries 50% of which think foreigners should live under Sharia law let alone 80% think Muslims should live under it? I was in the USAF from 1999-2009 involved in Kosovo, and the War on Terror from N. Africa to Iraq and Afghanistan. The religion absolutely teaches violence is acceptable and no reform has ever been done in Islam. Christians and Jews have had numerous reforms and yet here we are with Islam predictably anti-semitic, predictably aggressive, and predictably violent. It's not Mormons and Japanese Buddhists strapping bombs to kids or launching rockets into civilian areas, it's Muslims. I suspect you are new to terrorism and we're old enough to remember the War on Terror or all of the Islamic terrorism in Libya, Iran, and Lebanon of the 1980s? I certainly remember all of it and it's the same actors every generation, Muslim, Muslim, and Muslim again. Let the Muslims prove they are not violent because the majority of the world thinks they are violent and they rarely disappoint.

  25. I was in the USAF from 1999-2009. During that time the USAF developed long range plans with the army for expeditionary forces and the concept of global reach. The Soviets are gone and "threats" America faces aren't American threats, they are allied theats, allies that have become rich due to American allowed trade deficits. That is changing now as allies in regions are now expect to field properly funded armies. Many of the NATO countries are huge offenders of poorly funded militaries especially Germany and Canada. The US forces will be more mobile going forward with a smaller blue water Navy for strikes and deterrence not a protracted war. America is getting back to it's roots as it is independent and requires zero trade from oversees and is energy and food independent. Light tanks and more mobile equipment will be the norm.
