What I do know from watching sports, trainers are aggressive in telling players to rest if something feels "uncomfortable" when players are dealing with muscle strains. And, stuff breaks down every easily at that age.

  15. Earlier in my career, I was the numbers person. Even though the production side didn't impact me directly from a functional standpoint, I halfway inquired about visiting some of the factories in China. My production counterpart dissuaded me a bit as it's a pretty hectic trip and some of the factories were in less glamourous areas. That's likely the closest I'll ever get to visiting China.

  17.  @28naveenator27van  Bento Kawano has been open for 40 years and offers some bentos at $4. And, they are located in Tokyo. There are a ton of these bento shops in Japan. Generally, the good ones have obsessive owners. Their labor would be 2-3x a normal worker cost. A lot of sweat equity goes into the business.

  26. People love saying this. But, this assumes that supply chain can be thrashed around on a dime. And, people always forget about the other side of the equation. Psst, China isn't a self contained bubble when producing a product. Imports become more expensive. Basically, a manufacturer can "possibly" bid lower in labor costs, but labor costs that are still higher than SE Asia and Mexico.

  30. My Dad got his 2nd Master's for "fun". No pay bump. Just wanted to learn more. He was a teacher and already had a Master's in education. When I was a kid, he spent a few summers at a college and dormed there. Only reason I remember it was because he was gone one summer and we had a bat in our house. Obviously, the Chinese college system is a scam they can't end. Basically, like the US fly by night colleges the government cracked down on. They generate too much revenue for college administrators.

  32.  @auggieeast  In 2015, they slowly stopped publishing detailed economic data points. Can't audit their top line numbers anymore. Just have to "believe" their press releases. Used to be 80,000 economic statistics. Now, it's around 10-15,000. But, if you are curious, you can make up your own fake numbers: GDP = C (consumption) + I (Investment) + G (Government spending) + NX (net exports) I'm not sure when new homes sales started -30%, but that's when they started going negative GDP. Lots of noise though with lockdowns, re-opening, exports from US crashing.

  34.  @PennaMinecraft  Most countries follow a reciprocity rule with visas. There is no visa free rules with US and China. My relative is Korean. Korean nationals do not need a visa to the US for a trip under 90 days.

  35. The other channel is 10x better. This channel and China Insights used to put out the same quality. China insights stepped up their game. Even the topics that are a few days old or I think I know, they bring new information to the table. Recently, they've added good charts or easy visuals to explain things better. Edit: Don't want to be a dick, but the narrator is horrible. I feel like I dropped some acid and she sped up 3x speed. 5:14 Sometimes slow. Hyper fast in parts now. Sometimes, it feels like its the first time she's seen the script. Other times, I'm not even sure she understands what she's narrating.

  36. Williams-Sonoma is an interesting brand. A lot of their merchandise was stuff you could buy online elsewhere. I think they had to start getting creative and creating exclusive lines / brands to differentiate themselves. Just steady growth for the past 10 years (pre-pandemic). Building a brand means nothing in China. The Chinese consumer doesn't care. They'd sell off their parents for a discount.

(inflation adjusted) The only way you get the price way lower is to produce a ton of them (amortize the R&D). The big difference is the contract structure: the Air Force is reshaping how it executes fighter contracts, separating design and production from long-term sustainment to force competition between firms, and perhaps most important of all, ensuring Uncle Sam owns at least a significant portion of the “data rights” or intellectual property associated with the new fighter and its design, rather than allowing a corporation to maintain a monopoly on the fighter going forward. They are trying to avoid the F35 mess. Sandboxx had the ratio at least 3-1 with plane vs drones.

  46. The irony is Xi could have stopped the bubble, but miscalculated. He wanted to lock up his 3rd term (lifetime) appointment instead of putting the hammer on real estate in the mid-2010s. The guy hasn't made a correct decision yet. Now, anyone with real estate has lost 30-70% of their wealth in 2 years. People are struggling to find good jobs. At some point, people don't have anything more to lose.
