The fuel didn't spill, but the ammo cooked off

Good to hear from guys who know what they're talking about

The weight is f the javelin isn't as big of a deal as you would think. They are rarely carried for miles, as they are usually stowed on vehicles. Guys dismount with them as close to their ambush point or objective. The new CLU and missile motors will just make it deadlier. In the US, these launchers are complimented with disposable AT4s and reloadable Gustafs for closer ranges (<500 meters), lightly armored targets, fortifications, troops, and the vulnerable rear or sides of an MBT. Save the Javelins for the helicopter or tank assault possibility. The widespread issuance of the M3E1 MAAWS 84mm RC will reduce the use of Javelins for anything but the largest threats, he more flexible, lighter, and cheaper than using Javelins at 40K a pop. I think a HE round for one costs about 700 bucks

@danialyousaf6456 No, it isn't. Sorry. .Both .338 Norma and .337 LM are nearly identical. Norma can fire longer 300 grain bullets, while the most common for the LM is 250 grain, both fired at around 2900 fps. 50 cal is usually 650 grains fired at 2900. Both 338LM and 338NM have 50% less energy, 50% less bullet than the .50 cal.
4
@HellbirdIV I think it comes down more to the fact that the 25mm grenade was too small to be effective
4
We also have to consider cost. It's not the weapon cost alone. That's less of a big deal, as a quality weapon will last decades. It's the price per round of ammo. That matters, as logistics and war debt are the god and goddess of war. Most new rifle and machine gun ammo replacements for 5.56, 7.62, and 12.7 all are multiple times the cost of currently issued ammo.
4
@borderreiver1806 The average vehicle you'll see a .50 on is either a transport truck like an LMTV or an armored car like the MATV. Those vehicles can't really carry a heavier weapon. They should always be escorted by Bradley's, at the least, in a high intensity conflict involving enemy IFVs. Preferably, you have attack choppers above to engage those. The .50 does well against lightly armored vehicles that are similar to the vehicles in threat armies that are also armed with light weapons like the Kamaz.
4
@grim6980 Not just frequency. Power as well.
4
That's the plan. They will be supported with one 7.62 DMR and one M3E1 Carl Gustav per squad, with an attached M240G machinegun.
4
RPGs don't have tandem warheads? I seem to remember firing many
4
I've never seen anyone capitalize every word like that
4
@m1garandMUSIC I kinda doubt this would do much against armor at all. Id rather drop a four pound shell at long range than this
4
All of these choices are turds
4
@zoiders They were. The fact that you didn't know that says nothing about me. In fact, you should read the book "About Face", by David Hackworth. Read about Korean War raiding platoons. Nothing but Thompson's and BARs. It's astounding that you assume that just because someone tells you something you don't know, you assume they made it up. I believe the term is ignorance.
4
@jantschierschky3461 Are you trying to say a shorter, more compact weapon is more unwieldy? Jesus, you're deluded. That's the opposite of the truth. Shorter, more compact weapons are easier to use, not more difficult. I've spent the last 23 years in infantry companies. Started out as an M249 gunner, and now I'm a company 1SG. Nice flex though. Sheesh
4
Case head is different. The round won't even chamber.
4
The manufacturers say the plastic is recyclable and the steel base makes it easy to pick up with a magnet. No more picking up brass bent over with your hands
4
@brandonlevy8680 This 35x32mm grenade does not have a sabot round. It's an HEDP round. It has a copper cone with a fragmentation sleeve. When the fuze detonates, the charge shapes the copper cone into a small penetrator that shoots into the armor. It's not a sabot AP round. You only get that with high velocity autocannons and larger. The 35x32mm round is weaker than the US 40x53mm HV grenade, though it's going faster. It has a smaller warhead. We already know the performance of the 40x53mm HEDP, and it 50mm at 65 meters

@Thatguy_58 _ Were also mentioned in the book Surging South of Baghdad. I remember the day B Co lost 5 in one day-. SSG William Scates and his Alpha team. That was a dark day. I was friends with him and SGT Scott Kirkpatrick. IED triggered by a rug in a house. Took the roof down onto them. Very dark day for the Battleboars. Glad you made it out alive f there, brother. I think half of me never did. I still go there when I sleep.
4
@notagovslave5614 I lived at FOB Hope ( War Eagle) in 2005.
4
@automandan The problem is ammo weight for the Sig design. It's final cartridge weight is the same as our current 7.62x51 M110A1 round. The telescopic caseless and plastic cased rounds are still experimental rounds. All of which weigh more than current 5.56. With all of the things troops have to wear and carry, extra weight is very bad. We carry roughly 50% more than soldiers in WW2 when they were carrying 30-06 rifles
4
@mithonig6553 They're minor variations and are still 5.56. kinda proves what I'm saying. The marines adopted a variation of the 416, as well. They just invested 30 million in buying those weapons.
4
Well, do you want a TV from the 60s?
4
It literally blew up in guys hands....
4
@SoulRocketMan Not shit? You do realize that the Russians have been fielding AK74s since 1974, right? That's 74, not 47.
4
@Kross8761 Nobody is shooting AKs at 800 at us forces in afg. They're using PKMs, and we already have plenty of tools to take care of that
4
@saltyfloridaman7163 You'll wanna check that again. At no time does 338 NM catch up to 50 BMG. The 50 bullet is 2 1/2 times the size , is faster, has 2 1/2 times the energy, and a higher BC for less drop and At 1000 meters, the 50 has 9000 ft lbs if energy, while the 338 NM is down to less than 2000 ft lbs by 1000. The advantage of 338 is lower weight and recoil, but it's nowhere close ballistically.
4
@saltyfloridaman7163 On top of all that, we aren't in Afghanistan and it's fighting the last war. I've been doing this for 22 years. Trust me, nothing happing us the fault if our weapons. Anyone who tells you it is , is very undereducated.
4
@kriminalkeagz153 Yes, I'm fully aware. The PKM doesn't have a max effective range farther than the M240. Same BC, same bullet weight, same bullet velocity. Get it yet? It's physically impossible for the PKM to have a greater max effective range. What people do is state the max effective range of an M240 on a BIPOD and compare it to the PKM on a TRIPOD.

Self propelled cam work against you in Ukraine. Have to stay on the roads and make a huge target from the air at all times.
3
@hunterno7704 I'm not talking about counter battery. I'm talking about drones. It's easier to hide a truck and a towed piece than an SPG. Especially in the woods. Anything that's armored and big is being hunted.
3
@spartanx9293 I could see that if it weren't that the main gun would probably be out of ammo before that
3
@BilalAhmad-fs5rf No you have that Backwards
3
@BilalAhmad-fs5rf No, you don't. I didn't say either was better or worse. I said manual is faster. That's it. And it's true. Autoloaders are used for other benefits, but speed isn't one of them.
3
@Perserra Exactly. A prototype tank with maybe 10 copies is irrelevant
3
@ShivaTD420 And without armor, infantry can just be killed with machine guns and artillery. We go back to WW1
3
No enemy ammo carried by the enemy shirt of 50 cal is cutting through our plates, either. Most use some version of an AK
3
@godwinjoy9730 Right? It's the same gun
3
I wish it were. It's embarrassing
3
DGK201 You obviously don't know very much about the .277 Fury. It's a full powered cartridge. The 6.8 SPC II is an intermediate round
3
Your info is incorrect. The US military considers the 5.56 effective to 500 meters on a point target. The guys who talk about the innefectiveness of 5.56 haven't been in a gunfight with one. It's the choice of those who go in harms way, and it's not even close
3
@nexas2316 Any mortar is going to outrange an AGS by several times. It would be like suppressing a sniper with a pistol
3
@rijoenpial PDWs? Is that a joke? You think an ideal round for close quarters fighting is a bullet 50% lighter than 5.56 and going 2/3 the speed? A PDW would suck balls in modern combat. Sane with shotguns. Jeez, I'd love to fight guys armed with either. They'd be at a serious disadvantage vs an assault rifle. It wouldn't even be close.
3
@oiytd5wugho 🤣🤣🤣🤣 1. He isn't a journalist 2. Considering the topic, yes, you are being petty 3. Who cares? 4. He showed a clip of Bradley Manning being transported to his court martial. It's history. It happened. Choosing to identify as a woman doesn't change history
3
@kronoscommunist1578 Well, one variant does- the AK15. The Russian military is getting the AK12:in 5.45
3
Every tank does, now. Between FPV drones, loitiering munitions, and laser guided artillery shells, large MBTs are on their way out
3
@jaycee509 Yeah not too bad with lithium but forget alkaline
3
The MK19 has a higher velocity - 240m/s vs 185:m/s for the AGS17/30
3
@Drew Peacock That's very true. Drones are the way forward. Especially for unarmed scouting. As long as it has flir, an lrf, and a GPS, it can call in ordinance. Drones do have a higher crash rate, though.
3
The .38 revolver was issued in fairly high numbers during WW1 and WW2
