That kind of thing depends a lot on the meshing of personalities, but the truth is a LOT of dogs are scared of cats, and for good reason - cats are armed all over with very sharp weapons that they mostly are not afraid to use! (And by the way, you have no way to know when you adopt an animal whether it's going to work out. It's an act of faith, but that faith is not always rewarded. So don't judge people for not being able to deliver on a promise - life is not cut and dried, and things can work out badly sometimes.)

  11. I wouldn't think "pit bull" when looking at Ginger. She looks like a mix with some pit in her. I can see it maybe in the forehead and around the mouth. The width of her chest speaks of some pit in her. But it's not the assumption I'd make if I saw her on the street. She looks like a sweetie; you're so lucky to have such a great dog!

  22. It worked out nicely, but I don't see how she's selfless. She found a dog she liked and took him home. Millions of people do that all the time. It's not selfless unless, for instance, you know the dog is very sick and will need tons of attention and expensive care. In this case, it was just two friends acknowledging each other. There was no sacrifice involved since they turned out to be just right for each other.

  28. I love Dobies. I used to have one. Got her as a puppy and flatly refused to have her cut. She was such a sweetheart and an absolute wuss - she'd fall on her back if you looked at her funny! It's all in how a dog is raised, after all.

Also, I am now a little insulted that you assume no one can love animals or be ethical if they do not share your precise view on how to achieve a good life. No, I am not a vegan - and yet, SURPRISE!! I love animals and consider myself very ethical. Please look into the sources and supply chain of every item you have in your house before you start making little judgments about others' ethics. You'll be shocked at how much poverty, racism, violation, and even murder you are supporting with the things you buy. (And yes, that includes animals.)
