  21. We are seeing many people coming across the southern border who are Ukrainian and Russian. They don't speak English and they don't speak Spanish. They have heard of the disputes and see it as a doorway to safety. Sending the Russians back to Mexico would create a huge mess for both countries.

  50. What is the role of the church? For some, it's a cult of belonging and belongings. Someone I know quit her church when her pastor (who actively fed the hungry, helped the homeless) declared he was not "getting involved in politics" after Roe was overturned. She told me that she thought about the abolitionist preachers in the north who spoke out against slavery, sometimes at great personal cost. She could not reconcile the loss of human rights in our country.
