  6. So...? It´s not like Britain is 100% active Christian and has a Hindu government. Britain had a Jewish PM in the 19th century, Jews have been part of European society for almost two millennia. I´m European and Protestant, but one of my great-great-grandfathers was Jewish. And this is just a small percentage anyway, all other European countries (except Latvia) are run by non-believers or Christians of European descent.

  9. To all comments saying "Slovakia is not important": a friendly GO SUCK A SHOE!!! from Czechia. Also, from a purely pragmatic pro-Ukrainian point of view: Slovakia is en route from the West to Ukraine, plus it manufactures weapons and has been supplying them to Ukraine.

  12. I understand that the strong Russian defences also include trenches, minefields, Czech hedgehogs and the like? Those don't need to be supplied. From what I hear, some Russian troops panic and run, some fight fiercely.

  16. And then, part of Austria-Hungary. It's a Catholic city, plus it had a large Jewish community. There are parts of Ukraine that before the 20th century had barely anything in common with Russia and the Russian Orthodox world. No wonder Ukrainians resist so fiercely.

  23. I might be wrong - it might have been Prigozhin. The drones did very little damage and they hit a rich neighbourhood. Looks like a symbolic inside job by someone who hates the Moscow elite. And Prigozhin has been raging against rich Russians lately.

  25. Don´t know about the young men in the US because I´m not American, but on the whole, couldn´t agree more. I´ve thought for a long time that teachers, sports coaches, summer camp leaders and hobby teachers should be valued highly and have very good salaries and opportunities for professional growth. They´re the most vital parts of our societies.

  26. Exactly! We in the countries around Ukraine are doing quite a lot in the NGO and crowdfunding sector. My country´s government has given 60% of its heavy weaponry and can´t give more because we´re on Putin´s list. So the government is offering tax cuts to people who donate their money to buy weapons from outside Europe and give them to Ukraine.

  27. The Baltic states are making an effort, too. They're buying new equipment and reinforcing their borders and introducing conscription and recruiting new professional soldiers. It's just going slower than expected, one of the reasons being that they're simply small countries with limited resources. Estonia has economic problems. Lithuania is doing OK economically, but it had a slow defence minister up till spring 2024. They've gone into overdrive since then, defence news coming in almost every day.

  33. Nobody is talking about it because it was issued in 2021 and only regards women in medical and pharmaceutical professions. There is a small percentage of female fighters, but they're volunteers.

  37.  @thomasstyan2066  "If Orbán reflects the views of Hungarians" - Not of all Hungarians because I´ve met quite a lot of them. (I´m Czech and Hungary is almost our neighbour.) They were your run-of-the-mill Europeans, multilingual, culturally-minded and polite to people of other nations, definitely not ones to support an authoritarian politician.

  39. The Lithuanian experts who have never been wrong (at least so far) say it was a "dress rehearsal" by Prigozhin and a secret associate of his, probably a Kremlin insider. The insider has some leverage over Putin and wants to overthrow him. So he wanted to test Putin's army's strength and unity for a future palace coup. To do that, he associated himself with (or, just paid) Prigozhin to use his genuine beef with the Ministry of Defence and fear for his life and business (he was going to be ousted by the MoD) to stage a grand uprising. Meanwhile, Mr. X used his leverage on Putin to make him not punish Prigozhin. What's happening now are behind-the-curtain talks, deals, threats, blackmail etc. between Putin, Mr. X, Prigozhin, Lukashenko and who knows who else.

  45. I don't see the U.S. switching sides, but the support for Ukraine will probably be much smaller or wane completely. I'm Czech and to be honest, I never saw the U.S. as a country we could rely on in something that's both intense and long-term. Both the U.S. and Poland are sort of impulsive countries. Although I of course quite trust Poles because this is a very personal matter for them and we're sort of one big family in this. I was bitterly let down in my trust in Slovakia. Now I trust Scandinavia, Romania and the Baltics most when it comes to long-term support, and perhaps Great Britain and Australia. I trust Austria and Germany a lot when it comes to long-term projects, but unfortunately, Austria isn't supporting us much in this one.

  46. Yes, but I don't know if it's psychologically feasible. They already live in massive uncertainty. When my sister was working in a factory and there was a shortage of workers, they kept changing the times and days she was supposed to come to work. After a year, it started to drive her mad.

  50.  @AbcDino843  Nope, Ukrainians have a strategy. But whoever knows is not saying because it might help Russians. What we know for sure is one element of Ukrainian strategy right now is keep shaping operations going and keep wiping out Russian artillery systems. They're doing quite well, Russians really have been losing a lot more artillery systems lately.
