  3. It´s not too horrible, but NOT CARING is a problem there. (I follow a Buryat group, so I know.) Not much money is allocated to Siberia and not much attention is paid to the problems there. It´s not so bad short-term. But it creates long-term problems - infrastructure, healthcare, unemployment. And of course being lured into the army and serving as cannon fodder. As a member of a small nation that gained independence from an oppressor, I caution against freeing the nations. For freedom to work, people need to be united in wanting it. Like Ukrainians. And we had a massive National Revival movement. Freedom forced on unprepared people isn´t freedom. Wait to see whether they create independence movements or not.

  9. I especially loved that he used our (Czech) president for that ❤ I'm not a complete Petr Pavel enthusiast, he seems a bit too harsh and was a Communist for a short time, after all. But a stellar record after that, a decorated Yugoslavia war hero, a general in the NATO military committee, and he understands the Czech love of camping and sports. And his motorbike riding isn't just a publicity stunt, he really is a biker.

  11. It's SLOVAKIA for heaven's sake. Slovakia used to be part of Czechoslovakia and has borders with Ukraine, actually part of Ukraine used to be part of Czechoslovakia. Slovenia is the tiny Alpine country by the Adriatic sea that Melania Trump comes from and has borders with Italy and no borders with Ukraine.

  21. Totally agree, except the counteroffensive has not failed entirely. Some Russian Telegram channels are panicking about Ukrainians crossing Dnipro, numerous Russian planes, barracks with officers and logistics hubs have been destroyed, the Black Sea fleet is basically useless now. It's not been a success but it hasn't failed, either.

Greetings from Czechia, no need to apologize, I follow the events in Canada a bit (and love Murdoch Mysteries! 🙂 ) Trudeau for all his faults still seems to be very slightly better than the previous PM. He apologized to the First Nations and that´s a big plus. I used to live in Latvia, not far from the military base in Ādaži where Canadian soldiers train the Latvian army. Used to do some translations for the military base. Absolute satisfaction, never any complaints about the soldiers, they´re doing a great job!

  30. The channel Inside Russia, run by an exiled Russian, has a great analysis of this topic. Very much recommend it. The guy Konstantin exaggerates sometimes and makes wrong predictions, but when it comes to facts and politics, he´s pretty good.

  35. Thanks for the info. I´m Czech, from a dissident family and I feel sorry for the Communist idealists. They were some of those who made a lot of people suffer in the 1950´s because they just didn´t realize what´s going on and that their ideal isn´t workable. But most of them understood in the 1960´s, and afterwards helped erode the regime, like your granddad, for which I am very grateful.

I was born in a country that was a living example of how a country can continue doing something, even though it isn't profitable.

  46. All the experts are saying Ru**ia was genuinely surprised because the level of secrecy and misleading moves on Ukraine's part was incredible. Most of the soldiers only learned about it one day beforehand. The troops were gathered under the pretext "We're expecting an attack here" and Ru**ians laughed at them because they weren't planning an attack there. I saw Pu*in in the first emergency meeting. Even Ru**ians said he was genuinely panicking. His power stands and falls with keeping Ru**ia safe and impenetrable. I mean, he gave "keeping Ru**ia safe and creating a buffer zone" as the main reason why so many sons and grandsons have died in Ukraine. Now, it's turning out they died in vain. Not a comfortable position for a dictator.

  47. He hasn´t slept properly for 10 years. Also, not unusual in some post-Communist and some Nordic countries. My country is post-Communist-turned-NATO (Czechia) and our generals aren´t like this, but our president - a retired general - is. Watch an interview with an Estonian or Finnish general and it will be similar.

  50. Little say in anything, as in a valid member of EU and NATO, strategically positioned in the centre of Europe? It has more people than Finland, Estonia, Slovenia. And a border with Ukraine. I just hope we never find out how much negative power Slovakia can have. Remember how many problems Orban can stir up, and Hungary is not exactly a huge country or a European leader.
