Will the UK also admit that they lied to Ukraine?
136
The US Administration needs to tell Zelensky "Niet means Niet."

The British sentiment to "double down" if Ukraine's offensive fails has a parallel in the business world. There is that well known motto: "Having lost sight of our objectives, we redoubled our efforts."
36
Zelensky saying there will be no negotiations until Russia vacates every inch of land that was Ukrainian before 2014 doesn't see the giant paradox. If Russia did that, there would be nothing left to negotiate.
34
If Ukraine mobilizes 3 million soldiers, they will not have enough equipment.
33
Zelensky's ultimatum is too weak. He threatens that Russia will surely win if Ukraine is not given full NATO membership. That's not much of a threat because everyone already knows that Russia will win, and all the jostling now is about the details and consequences of that. What Zelensky should do is to give NATO the ultimatum that unless Ukraine becomes a member real fast, Ukraine will join the Russian Federation and BRICS, and become one of the Russian states. Zelensky would not be ignored anymore.
32
They will soon be called Freedom Fighters.
26
It could be that Russia will allow Ukrainian troops to occupy Robotyne. Once Ukrainian manpower and machinery are lodged in place and stationary, it will make it easier for Russian artillery to eliminate them.
25
The EU has Kaja Kallas, but Ukraine has its own "high" representative - Zelensky.
24
The American side is facing a quandary. They want Kiev to agree to terms that broadly align with Russia's minimum conditions, but if Kiev doesn't consent, the Americans don't want Russians to continue the war until they get what they want. Presumably the US will work on all sides to eventually make progress. If things are up to Zelensky, nothing will get done.
24
Kirby deserves credit for being able to deliver such incredible lies with a straight face.
22
If Ukraine were to acquire nuclear weapons by any means or from any sources, that would be one of very few scenarios where Russia would fire nuclear weapons at Ukraine first. The obvious reason is that Ukraine would undoubtedly use those weapons against Russia, because Russia is not going to stop its campaign in Ukraine until it secures its objectives.
21
It's almost 100% certain that 3rd country troops who enter Ukraine will be bombed by whatever means deemed suitable. What is not known is whether Russia will bomb the home countries of such armies. Of course if Russian positions are attacked from the air by missiles or other aircraft that take off from outside of Ukraine, then those countries can expect to be bombed by Russia in return.
20
The threat of preemptive strikes can only trigger pre-preemptive strikes from the opposition.
19
It's bad luck to venture into a minefield, even a metaphorical one.
19
All of a sudden, Russian soldiers that were crawling through gas pipelines in Kursk unexpectedly emerge in northern Germany where Russian gas is collected for redistribution. Apparently, the pressure of the gas propelled them at great speed toward their unintended destination, much to the chagrin of the Germans on the receiving end.
19
Erdogan might have a hard time achieving one of his objectives. The US is likely to protect the Kurds and will limit the extent of any serious damage to their security.
18
It is related. Being Woke causes people to set the wrong objectives and to commit to bad initiatives.
16
The peace proposal doesn't mention by what mechanism will Russia be assured that Ukraine will not continue to seek NATO membership, nor what assurances will exist that Ukraine will not resume attacking Russian-held regions after it has rearmed and resupplied.
16
Did you mean they should get a hotel room?
16
The pager and walkie-talkie attack came after Israel saw that the war on terror was not effective. So, they thought, why not try terror on war!?
15
@TjomskiVenderman Apparently you are not familiar with the tale "The Hare and the Tortoise."
14
The only plausible concession Russia could make is that it won't subsume Odessa and Kharkov, providing all other Russian conditions are met. No matter what shape the final situation in Ukraine takes, the West will continue with efforts to rearm whatever is left of Ukraine despite any peace agreement. The ideological zealots in London will never give up on attacking Russia.
14
The North Koreans are probably flying those drones over the shores of New Jersey.
13
It makes no sense that Cuba wouldn't import oil from Venezuela. There is something critical that we don't know or understand (or maybe just I don't know). A curiosity fact about Cuba... Cuba has the largest collection of pre-1960 American automobiles anywhere in the world. I think cumulatively this could be a World UNESCO Heritage Museum "site".
13
You need reinforcements from the US and UK, they are heavy users of bots.
12
The problem with Rubio is that he is of average intelligence and average ability, which is an impediment in successfully managing a complicated portfolio.
12
By some historical accounts, the Alans (Alani) of Ossetia were part of the group of tribes from which Indo-Europeans originated. The Alans apparently joined the Germanic tribe Vandals and together sacked Lisbon and many other places across Europe. Other historians even postulate that King Arthur's England was founded by Alans who were brought there by Romans to help them rule the land.
12
If a ceasefire is agreed to by competent adults, there should never be a need for Peacekeepers to keep them from fighting. Of course, we'll have to see if the Ukrainian side can field competent adults.
11
Agreed with Alexander, especially about sanctions not working. I assert that no one on earth actually has a thorough deep understanding of macroeconomics. That's why the US wrongly predicted economic downturn in Russia after sanctions.
11
France often gets things wrong. They even spell NATO backwards: OTAN.
11
As others have pointed out, if Russia takes the UK-Ukraine Agreement seriously, it will be compelled to secure more territory than initially intended. This likely would include the entire Black Sea coastline and the Kharkov area, and possibly even parts of Ukraine right up to the Dniepr. If that were to happen, an intriguing opportunity would be for Russia to create a land corridor right up to Trans-Nistria. This in turn would open up the possibility to run the land bridge all the way up to Hungary, which would then enable Russia to route oil or gas pipelines to countries connected to Hungary, among which would be Slovakia, Serbia and even Austria.
10
Terrorism goes mainstream. Syria is the first official terrorist state. Until now, countries the West described as state terrorism really only hàd governments that undertook military missions that were not approved by the West. Syria, on the other hand, has a large part of the population that have been designated as terrorist or could easily be considered as such.
10
The reason why the Russians aren't bombing bridges across the Dniepr river is because they will cross that bridge when they come to it.
9
This, actually, is very sad. But it doesn't seem to matter to America or Zelensky.
9
@godinminaar9024 There are open employment opportunities in Siberia.
9
I am starting to think Ukrainian soldiers have lost heart. The reason I think that is based on reports that Ukrainian offensives are failing far more than in the past. Even if Russian techniques have improved, the level of losses by Ukraine seem greater than can be accounted for by what the Russians have done.
9
To increase credibility, Ukraine needs to refine the precision of the numbers of missiles shot down. Instead of reporting that 29 out of 30 missiles were shot down, why not say 28.5 missiles.
9
It's not that the USA didn't want to use diplomacy. It's just that it wanted to use gunboat diplomacy, but couldn't because Erdogan wouldn't let the gunboat pass through the Bosporus into the Black Sea.
9
And that's in addition to many other EU values, the most abominable of which are values EU adopted from Marquis de Sade.
8
One positive outcome of Russia taking Kiev would be that Chicken Kiiv could revert back to its proper name, Chicken Kiev.
8
Clearly, Ukrainians declared "We'll cross that bridge when we come to it." Now that the bridge is broken, Ukrainian troops cannot cross it, and therefore cannot commence their vaunted offensive.
8
And to think this all started with cookies.
7
I don't think Ukraine is so far at risk of losing the narrative. The MSM will support Ukraine and the position of the US government for as long as it takes.
7
Taking Odessa is strategically important for the long term. Allowing Ukraine to have access to the Black Sea will pose a perennial risk, so why not prevent it.
7
There is always the option to overwhelm the Patriot system with multiple attacks using drones, cruise missiles, and other missiles including artillery, and then when the Patriot system is sufficiently blinded, a Kinzhal or two can take out the Patriot system itself.
7
Curiously, the HTS appear to be more Woke than the Assad government, and based on words from their leader we should expect the new Syria to celebrate Pride month next June.
7
I hope you are not alone in noticing this. What if it's because of false ideologies, false values, false beliefs, false "Gods" ?
7
Russia needs to take whatever it intends to take. It will only be increasingly more difficult to do it later.
7
Postol is getting old, so things don't work as well anymore. Spell check changed my Postol to Postal, so I had to edit it. We certainly wouldn't want Postol to go postal.
