The prosecutions were brought by the post office and In England and Wales, courts consider computers, as a matter of law, to have been working correctly unless there is evidence to the contrary.
4
They don't terrify Labour there has been a considerable demographic shift on who votes for them they attract educated younger voters
3
The deal is next to worthless in GDP terms Also It ties us to ISDS which has been used by corporations to block health and safety, net zero initiatives and polution measures
3
@lynnwilliams4024 except fund the NHS properly and be in power for the most prosperous decade this country has ever had with average wages increasing in real terms by +25%
3
If you look at his fiscal policies there hard right Thatcherite what more do you want?
3
@sandragray3951 don't forget the vip lane for Tory donors and the 37 billion for the failed test and trace
3
It makes trade seamless and easy across the 27 Any sole trader can set up a website and sell to 440 million and we don't have it we have tons of paperwork an red tape and all the Ebay sole trader Amazon market small item exports got stopped overnight. The UK doesn't set the standards tthe EU sets the standards and we have to follow them and fill in loads of forms to prove it causing delays breaking the on demand supply chain which is what's happened with fresh goods at the moment
3
Its only out of hand because the Tories have made it so and Brexit has made the situation far worse were no longer in a host of international agreements
2
@pickleperryemz No they didn't Labour had some bad years because of the Iraq war but the numbers claiming asylum are pretty constant the last crisis was 2002 and now were seeing an across the board increase. Labour dealt with the last time this happened by fast tracking applications the Tories seem determined to gum up the system close down all legal routes for claims and let people rot in hotels for years on the government payroll then scream Rwanda at the top of their voice. This is a Tory problem made worse by Tory policies and Brexit
2
@chriscurtain1816 good the reason this country is in the mess it its is the continuous bilge pump of lies and unfufilable promises from hard right wing parties They couldn't do a jigsaw with 1 piece they'd be stood around for ever arguing and squabbling among themselves on which way to put it. RIP the Tories
2
@wellard67 Into what conspiracy theories. Try a podcast by Origin Story called Conspiracy Theory What there not telling you
2
In what way is the EU struggling after Brexit given the fact its GDP is larger now than it was with Britain in it?
2
I double insulated my downstairs at the same time as I put in an extension mineral fibre for cavity and under floors with a superfoil as a secondary layer. You can staple superfoil to your rafters cover the seams with foil tape and there are a range of product price points for even more insulation put a batten over it and plasterboard over it to create an additional cavity
2
Sunak is as Thatcherite as they come JRM is a Libertarian and Braverman would fit better in the BNP
2
Agreed its more about energy independence and cheaper energy after my extension and house refurbishment to double insulation and thermal and standard solar I pay next to net zero for my energy
2
Your only paying CGT on second properties and shares outside ISA'S and pensions? It's already lower than income tax and house prices since 2010 have risen 70% on static income and wage growth If you crashed the market by 50% your still worse off as a buyer than in 2010 Moggs talking out of his Toft arse as usual
2
@snakeman9902 no he's not I'm not a Conservative supporter and have despised Thatcherite policy at every level and this guy drips with it through every pore
2
Wind is currently the cheapest power source on the grid we only have 17% of it you can run a mixed energy grid with as much as 60% What happens when the wind doesn't blow we need to invest in storage and Tidal and During lull periods the wind produced has gone down to 10% what people don't appreciate is the huge range of locations round the UK and also the modern turbine will start turning at wind speed 8 mph Also your not subsidising renewables your subsidising Fossil with 10's of billions in tax breaks which contribute nothing to the economy
2
Mogg isn't a Conservative he's a Libertarian.
2
The demographic of who votes for Labour has been changing for a while their main base is educated younger voters
2
@laurencesmith1435 The trend has been going on for some time the right wing of politics offers nothing for younger voters support for the Conservatives dipped to 8% in the under 50's. If you want to conflate statistics with your personal views that's your problem and by the way transphobia is the politics of hate and division used by those who should know better
2
@laurencesmith1435 education teaches children critical thinking how to break down problems and form personal judgements based on evidence and facts This is generally at odds with more Conservative thinking which begs for easy solutions uniformity.
2
@laurencesmith1435 I'm retired I do voluntary work at my local secondary school helping with special needs children and your view appears to be one portrayed by sections of the media not grounded in the facts in my area
2
@laurencesmith1435 I worked in IT nearly all my working life part of my job was looking after the new starting graduates never had much of a problem with them a few where unsuitable and moved on to other careers. You get what you put in there's no end of appalingly bad bosses and managers out there blaming everyone else for thier failings
2
why would we have energy rationing if the policy is targeted correctly large numbers of homes could be grid independent You can run your house electrics off an EV or battery already
2
@susancurtis1651 Trade North to South is more important to the NI economy because without it NI's economy would implode the da8ry farmers would go bankrupt overnight and that's just the tip of the iceberg
2
you have a smart meter, if you had an ev you'd know that your smart plug turns on and off when its most cost effective to charge What is the average distance traveled by car in the UK? Average Car Mileage UK (2023) Average Mileage per Day, Week, Month and Year On a daily basis, cars in the UK drive an average of 20 miles a day, 142 miles a week, 617 miles a month and 7,400 miles a year.
2
these aren't OUR fuel reserves the Tories sell them off and they go onto the world commodity market where the Privatised energy companies buy them back at a huge markup passing the cost onto the punter
2
@snowyowel7961 dream on with the BS from 2010 to 2019 the debt to GDP ratio rose from 62% to 92% and real average wages went down by -3% and we had a decade of stagnation Cameron got rid of Labour's Green policies which would have saved UK energy consumers hundreds of Billions over the last couple of years, they didn't even maintain rainy day gas storage Pandemic wise they ran the NHS into the ground before it and got rid of emergency stocks of PPE then wasted billions on a failed testing strategy and bungled PPE contracts
1
@snowyowel7961 what is our lack of foresight and planning. Inflation is mostly food and energy our borrowing had gone up to 92% by 2019 used to pay for corporate tax cuts that produced zero growth. We've screwed up our energy and are paying the highest prices in Europe even though we had < 5% of our gas from Russia ours is nealy all domestic which we've handed over control of to large fossil multinationals. We've screwed our farming over with Brexit producing less while importing more in a rising market and added billions in paperwork costs. World wide Tory crisis more like 13 years of failed policies coming home to roost
1
@stevestephens8969 45 billion of unfutax cuts give me a break it was all on tick how stupid are you tax cuts for the rich generate squat the economic multiplier is 20% at best meaning your pissing 80p per pound of tax money up a wall
1
@stevestephens8969 2015 Cameron's tax cuts produced zero growth and ballooned the debt which in 2019 had risen to 92% from 62 in 2010 There's numerous budgetry papers budgetary paper on tax blanket tax cuts for the wealthy go into investments get spirited off shore very little goes into the economy A tax cut that would boost spending across the board is VAT it would also help with costs in the public service sector Cameron raised it to 20% further deflating the economy
1
@stevestephens8969 gold standard gimme a break sovreign debt is only an issue if you can't service it ours was 45 ish for a long time till the banking crisis another gift from dumb ass neoliberalism. Cameron claimed he was going to drive it down he didn't again unfunded tax cuts sent it south and upwards Trump tax cuts in the states just went way worse, Reagan tax cuts increased debt Bush tax cuts increased debt and your expecting the gilt market to fund yet more debt jog on
1
@stevestephens8969 we could go back and forth all day the Issue with the UK economy are long and varied my main point is blanket tax cuts on an already low upper rate don't produce growth. If your debt to gdp was below a reasonable level the markets would go whatever and fund it anyway The uk is currently an economic basket case long term investment by major companies has dried up and SME investment is hamstrung both by Brexit with very high gdp/debt and inflation at 11% And the last time inflation was this high was the last time we had an energy crisis
1
She was removed for stupidity and crashing the markets
1
@alyb731 what establishment the one that owns 100% of debt run up by successive Tory pms? And told her to fk off and present a grown up budget coz the one she presented was fkin insane
1
@IanDarley multi nationals have always been able to tax shop and Shell don't pay tax they haven't for the past 5 years neither does Amazon Microsoft Google etc. Your premise is just wrong we have a tax base of 33% Germanies is 37.5 France is 46.2 both are growing Faster than the UK Back in 2016 our GDP was 90% of Germany now it is 70% Our currency is down by 30% against the Euro and dollar since 2016 major investment in UK plc has fallen off a cliff BritishVolt collapsed no one would invest in it car manufacturing in this country is collapsing London CNN— UK car manufacturing hit a 66-year low in 2022, as the closure of two plants We are an economic basket case no one in their right mind would lend us money to piss up a wall on tax cuts with a gdp to debt expected to top 103% and no fkin plan to reduce it bar fantasy economics. The Johnson Brexit deal destroyed the On-Demand EU wide supply chain in this country there will be NO large manufacturing investment and little SME investment because of it period.
1
@yvonnenorth9634 No we won't most of us hate Farage for what he's done to the country
1
Since when she crashed the market you numpty
1
Brexit is done my Mrs. fills in thousands of pages of documentation weekly to prove it Why do you care about Northern Ireland it has a population the size of Leeds and Johnson's shyte deal put a border down the Irish sea on purpose
1
yea yea any more trickle down budgets like the last one and you couldn't get any more right if you tried He has to put up taxes for the coz the economic model of low corporate taxes has produced sweet FA growth so to fund his trickle down hes screwing the working and middle class for those sweet millionaire pensioner and banker tax breaks
1
yet the forward cost of their electric is 42p per kilowatt hour as opposed to the current price of gas at over 100p and has been as high as 600p per kilowatt hour Wind forward contract prices for onshore reached parity with Gas back in 2019 and has been getting more expensive ever since
1
@rjones6219 The OffGem price is 142p currently this is based on the most expensive form of generation which is currently Gas its been as high as 500+p One of the problems renewable energy and having millions of EV's plugged into the grid with active technology should resolve is balance loading so you don't need expensive Gas stations on standby when everyone plugs in their kettle quote from Octopus The energy network of the future Powerloop is a revolutionary way of taking green energy in the middle of the night and storing it in the battery of a Nissan LEAF. Using a bi-directional charger, the Nissan LEAF connects back into your home to provide your house energy during peak times when energy demand is at its highest. Using car batteries as energy storage devices enables us to keep intermittent renewable energy for when we need it most. This makes our energy system more efficient and moves us to a green economy faster.
1
What's with all the TRUE Conservative stuff you've got a hardcore Thatcherite in No10 does it not occur to you that its hard right wing policies that don't work not who's implementing them Reform are just a load of re-badged Libertarian policies that Truss tried and crashed the markets with
1
Johnson was done for repeatedly lying to parliment Not for breaking lock down rules as usual with the blonde idiot it woz the cover up rather than the crime that screwed him over then diging a hole so deep it you could see Aus
1
Wind is currently the cheapest power source on the grid we only have 17% of it you can run a mixed energy grid with as much as 60% What happens when the wind doesn't blow we need to invest in storage and Tidal and During lull periods the wind produced has gone down to 10% what people don't appreciate is the huge range of locations round the UK and also the modern turbine will start turning at wind speed 8 mph Also your not subsidising renewables your subsidising Fossil with 10's of billions in tax breaks which contribute nothing to the economy
1
And why would you trust Reform there backing Fracking which has no benefit to any UK voter all it will do is feed the Fossil corporations profits
1
How about paying them an appropriate wage to retain them
1
@stevestephens8969 so your an economist are you? Tax cuts dont grow shit well debunked 50 years of data etc the womon was completely captured by right wing think tanks that serve the very rich absolute complete bollox
1
Your defecting because what was promised was undeliverable and you'll go support a party that also promises the undeliverable Most people on here need an economic reality check
