In what way does Reform show nay common sense?
3
Consequence of Tories salting the earth as they left and 14 years of bad economic mismanagement. 8 years on still no brex1t plan and the Truss disaster of Argentina on the Channel
3
She a neoliberal Libertarian headbanger
3
You were told removing FOM and leaving the EU would make both legal and illegal migration worse but labelled project fear
3
@SD-rn1fn what bubble are you living in that supports 100+ billion in unfunded tax cuts NHS privatisation and Fracking?
3
I see JHB is still trying to justify the shtshw that is Brexit The only reason Brexit happened was to fend off the far right in UKIP and keep the Tories in power the only reason we had Johnson's deal was he wanted to be PM and replace May and it didn't matter what damage his deal did it was all politics. Its been a political game by the Tories from the start hence No Plan in 2016 No Plan in 2023 hence a bunch of trade deals amounting to 0.0% gdp to replace the hundreds of billions lost in trading with the EU Double the number of refugees pre Brexit +6% food inflation over EU countries -10% drop in home food production Real GDP Growth from 2010 to 2022 is 0% (Real GDP takes account of inflation) Real Net disposable income has fallen from 6,127 in 2010 to 6,053 in 2020 and the OBR forecast is another -6% on top of 2021/22 figures taking us to 2024 Tax base will rise from 33% in 2021 (Same as 2010) to a staggering 38% by 2027 under current government plans (Tax base is a % of tax to GDP) Debt is still going up and was 99% debt to GDP last time I looked (62% in 2010) (40% in 2006) JHB is an idiot if you listen to any of her drivel and believe it then you have truly been Gammonised
3
Why as a pensioner should I pay for a 6,000 tax break for extremly wealthy parents?
3
On the contrary immigration would be lower under Labour because the high legal numbers are the result of Conservative economic policy and lack of investment in social and physical infrastructure.
3
Conservatives economic model is Trickle down supply side to work it needs globalization and a continuous supply side cheap labour force otherwise you need to invest in physical and social infrastructure with a fairer tax system which deals with wealth created by wealth which is pretty much untaxed. REFORM & UKIP just turn off immigration they don't deal with the underlying economic model which will further contract the UK economy into a stagflation spiral and 750,000 is a result of hard Brexit and loosing FOM in 2019 we had net 200,000 an EU worker comes over here without dependants sometimes temporary in 2023 we have net 750,000 with wives husbands and kids coming from outside Europe
3
What's stupid about creating a grid which has the potential to reduce energy costs by over 1/2?
3
In 2010 our public services were properly funded now they are not In 2010 our tax base was 33% its now 36% In 2010 debt to gdp was 62% its now 100% 13 years of Austerity + Thatcherism × Brexit did this
3
Great another party for the Billionaires and fossil industry
3
@jeffappleton926 Leaving the ECHR has nothing to do with migration legal or otherwise? What do't you get?
3
@kelsogirl562 Reform wouldn't change anything bar speed up our economic decline and make you even poorer
3
I thought you lot wanted lower immigration, if you don't pay proper wages then your looking to import workers on low salaries.
3
There were no boats in 2010 So bs as usual @maisondusuave
3
It will cost double to stay on gas if you could be bothered to do some proper research Just changing from Peak Gas plant to Tesla Megapacks would save consumers 10's of billions
3
emptier they added 1.5 trillion to the 800 billion Labour left them
3
So last time Labour were in we had sustained growth and an average increase in wages of +20+% under the Tories were -10% worse off after 14 years how does that logic compute?
3
@JillLawton-zt8me So how much do you know about macro economics? Brown / Blair Borrowed 250 billion during their spell in government ALL Labour borrowing since WW2 is around 500 billion. Since 2010 the Tories have borrowed 1.6 TRILLION between 2010 and 2019 they borrowed 900 billion for what? were now 10% worse off in disposable income terms than we were in 2010
3
the 2k is complete bollox but lets say its not it's 9.5 billion a year Labour have already said they will roll back Sunak's millionaire pension giveaway which cost 8 billion, his unfunded tax cut for pensioners will cost 2.7 billion and will be funded by raising the pension age to 67 costing my family £12,000 straight off the bat.
3
If someone stole your freedom you'd be p1ssed as well
3
Why is 3 million not enough? Family farms near me in Yorks are 2.5 mill
3
The only way to reduce migration is to invest in UKPLC that means free training , more housing better public transport Not Gesture politics
3
On average Labour borrow less than the Tories and repay more BY A LOT The Tories have borrowed 1.8 trillion since 2010 and repaid ZIP
3
Where did it all go wrong thats easy electing Cameron, Osborne's Austerity is wot started this whole sorry mess
3
@davidbarlow350 why do you think I'm in favour of the EU just because I think Farage is a fascist piece of toxic crap?
3
alan boardman powerful and continuing nationalism Disdain for the recognition of human rights Identify enemies / scapegoats as a unifying cause Corporate power is protected Labour power is suppressed Disdain for intellectuals and the arts Obsession with crime and punishment.
3
90% of what he said was nonsense if you believe it more fool you
3
I have never voted conservative can't think of a single policy from Thatcher on wards that has been the remotest benefit to me socially or economically
3
You need around 3k per head so you need around +2 billion to stand still also its not a tap you can turn on and off, after 14 years of Austerity policies turning it off would plunge the uk into not a reccesion but a full blown depression.
3
No she didn't last week the Tories bled another 2 points in the polls and Labour gained +3 due to her antics
3
@imbonkers3629 Our increased migration numbers are the direct result of loosing FOM, we no longer have the flexibility to import them from 20 miles away there coming from the 3rd world with permanent visas with over 50% being dependants
3
The Tories waste billions on trickle Down cr@p, outsourcing to their mates etc
3
Lots of things have changed your food is more expensive and expires quicker for a start off Exports by volume are down Inward investment into the UK is down Your currency buys 25% less euros Stella plants are shutting Sewage in rivers are at record levels Etc
3
We have 3 incomes in our house mine as a pensioner I'm 550 worse off my wife who works now part time + 250 and my 25 year old son -250 We have a low wage stagnant economy young people especially can barely get their head above water at the other end more people retiring are doing so into poverty as someone who's studied Economics this is the House that Osborne built. Personally we're OK but on a socio-economic front it's a breeding ground for fascism
3
@marksavage1108 we want a country were we have human rights and not run by a complete BS merchant
3
Fracking stopped they had a 2.9 quake near Blackpool that was after pumping a test well with 1 million gallons of toxic goop, there was also multiple shocks on a smaller level. Tho make the field operational they would pump in 10 million gallons to crack the shale increased volume has a direct connection with seismic activity. The legal limit is 0.5 If the fracture due to the earth quake splits the rock into the water table your poisoning Greater Manchester's water supply
3
Stop voting Conservative then
3
@longdongsilver1255 I'm a pensioner with an economics degree If you want lower migration invest in social and physical infrastructure Free higher education, retraining programs, more housing to enable employees to relocate and vastly impoved transport. All your getting with Reform is more magic unicorns because tax cuts. Truss really nailed that zombie idea!
3
If it's so much BS why did the Tories put so many public sector jobs on the Visa exception list and fly in plane loads of migrants on low pay?
3
why they will remove all the trickle down tax breaks and spend it on real stuff
3
It depends on what you mean by a subsidy? the wholesale price on renewables has been going down steadily and reached parity with Gas back in 2019, a lot of the current energy crisis could have been avoided if we had more on the grid
3
@petedavies7680 They use Arc furnaces in the US for over 70% of their steel so why not? The point of net zero isn't just to produce more it's insulation to use less, it's planning reform, its timeshifting using smart tech, its mass storage and the removal of peak load plant that runs for minutes in a day and costs billions. As EV's become more popular it will be about mesh networking the batteries onto the grid for power smoothing.
3
Brexit was always doomed it was just a vehicle to unite the Tory party and it succeeded for a few years It has zero chance of ever being an economic success people told you that from day 1 but oh no we don't listen to experts now your looking for another straw man to blame how about yourself for being so gullible
2
Renewable energy has been the cheapest on the grid since 2019 by not deploying more where getting scalped for 10's of billions in EXCESS fossil profits
2
the muppets that sold you brex1t which quadrupled migration?
2
Tories lost another 2 points in the polls last week and Labour gained +3 Cons 23% Labour 47% The cause Braverman
2
If your middle or working class your going to see your overall tax burden decrease under labour as the rip out 14 years of Tory trickle down cr*p and expensive outsourcing and people's wages start to improve after 14 years of stagnation.
2
@christinemurray1444 tax has gone up per household since 2019 by 13,000 and Sunak's tax pledge to pensioners will be paid for by raising the pension age to 67 something that will add a £12,000 bill to my household. Labour's tax plans will affect asset and corporate wealth where most of the Tory tax rises are flowing into with the mistaken belief that trickle down works.
