Stock market goes up and down its cyclical and doesn't connect to wages, if the tax cuts for corporation hadn't come in it wouldn't have gone up to the extent it has all that has happened is a companies have done share buybacks which has boosted the share price. Money is then given to executives who's incentive packages include shares going up, what's worse is deregulation is going to lead to another crash your already seeing record fines on banks for shady behaviour. Economics wise Trumps trade war is choking off investment, when large scale investment is happening say in companies such as Tesla the factory is built abroad and supplies a non US market instead of importing components and building in the US then exporting, Tesla is planning a gig factory in Europe. By not supporting education and infrastructure or subsidising research the US is also falling behind its previous immigration policy took in some of the brightest minds to fuel the tech boom now they have to be white and well off, in computing India has been a huge source of technology labour. I could go on but the current Republicans strategy isnt just short term in like the next decade it's literally like thier plans don't extend beyond a couple of years, it's destructive and just sheer greed.

Why would Warren want Sanders on the ticket?
1
Wow a woman with a brain who has a career and is a Dr. Surly they could go with the sexist she's not a real Doctor stint again
1
There going to run a legal campaign in Pennsylvania to try and invalidate the vote based on whatever and win through the courts Just to remind everyone that three of the current supreme Court justices worked for the Republican party on Bush v Gore The only real way round it is to rack up the votes by such a margin across the country that it makes court challenges toxic, while Trump may think he can get a decision past a certain point even his enablers will slink away.
1
Housing is a state issue all the federal government can do is provide the structure and direction
1
@Chitown18 housing needs to be in the right place, a better model is state owned cooperative housing built to the latest eco energy standards Even if there was a federal budget for it do you think that Republican states would buy into either the state run cooperative part or even the eco part?
1
She needs to grow up, why are Trumpists so infantile
1
The market was hot to start with and may well have had a major correction without this, the real problem is he spent his contingency money on a tax cut for the rich, when this wanes you'd need a stimulus package like I know major infrastructure bet you he asks for bailouts for his buddies instead. Maybe he's that hocked in debt this will bankrupt the Trump organisation, you can but hope? Then hit with a mega tax bill after the March hearings.
1
Obama had huge inner strength who's actions strode the world stage like a colossus, Trump runs around the world stage like a demented clown and is treat accordingly. Obama was respected Trump is sneered at the SNL sketch where they stuck impeach me to his back sums up his standing in the world. GOP Alpha-ness has piss poor standards
1
If it's close Trump will steal it
1
Bernie is 78, Biden is 76, Trump is 73 and Warren is 70, Trump is showing increasing signs of physical as well as mental decline, Biden's energy levels don't look on a par with Warren or Sanders a year out you need to see who is physically and mentally up to the task. I don't think people realise how much damage Mitch & DT thave managed to do under the surface in dismantling government from the inside anyone taking over has spiraling gov debt, an economy on the verge of collapse, infrastructure education environmental and healthcare policy completely unfit for purpose.
1
Fox is populated with complete morons Last time I saw Biden he took the piss out of Steve Ducy
1
Those godam Dems are soon clever bio weapon election fixing BUT SO FUKIN DUMB THEY WONT PASS AN ELECTION INTEGRITY BILL AND STACK THE SUPREME COURT
1
They've spent 3 years gutting the government and are now in purge mode and will shut down information, already Fox is in full conspiracy mode blaming the fake News undermining the scientific community and saying it's the Dems fault that the markets crashing.
1
The main problem with the US response is lack of federal leadership which has resulted in a spotty patch work of disparate responses. There's no guidance to how to open safely aside from a few vague guidelines which are discretionary and all of this will lead to a rolling death toll where your always on the back foot. The figures show a plateaus of between 2/3k deaths per day and that figure is going to remain pretty constant for the foreseeable future.
1
Spreading toxic disinformation is dangerous, governments in western Europe have got Facebook to ban and remove dangerous content
1
One of the reasons he's not doing rally's is he doesn't pay his bills, there are only so many large venues in swing states + you will get comparison crowd size also This is why he switched to outdoors to stiff a different set of venues now the Secret Service don't want him outside
1
He will try and sabotage the entire country
1
Course he won't anyone debating Trump will just say liar every time he opens one of his orifices Anyone schooling Biden for a debate would get a psychologist in so that he pushes all the wrong buttons Trump will just explode with absolute drivel and go full mussolini
1
A year on the following has happened Semi retired workers have left the labour market completely Women with children have left the labour market 650k + have died (plus) the rest Hospitality workers are transient and a lot will have moved The US has an aging population that isn't expanding and it's labour market is in desperate need of young low paid workers
1
A net carbon house is possible now and saves you money, you design it from the bottom up and average the cost over 10 years. Developments in Insulation solar wind and battery capability are forging ahead.
1
he can barely read an auto cue
1
Bernie is not left wing he's liberal you have a shout for him being left of liberal but the meter is so jammed hard on the right it's in the fascist red zone, when will conservatives wake up wealth inequality through oppressive taxation policy will cause civil unrest which will promote an extreme reaction on the right in its current form. It's a loose loose situation for everyone.
1
The Pentagon's always talking to thier counterparts from all over the world, I think the book is spinning this story way out of what was planned. The doj crew were ready to do a mass resignation, Milley would have had to carry out a lawful order or if he thought DT was insane resign and convene the gang of 8, I presume the plan was to slow roll any decision with staggered resignations so Congress and the Senate could get involved. Even with the extraordinary power of the presidency you still need Congress approval to declare war on another country
1
Biden has reduced it from its Trump high of 133% of GDP to 122% Part of that reduction is attributed to inflation and the rest to average growth of 3.6% gdp The Trump tax plans will wreck the economy, tariffs are essentially sales taxes which are highly regressive taking money from the bottom and the middle while lowering tax at the top. People at the bottom and middle spend most of their money People at the top your lucky if it's 20% net effect recession
1
It does matter if he lies because the guy is the General of a sovereign state who he had assassinated in a country the US is a guest in without consulting anyone, not Congress not his allies. He's set back relations with Iran, Iraq and the coalition to the point of no return. No one will trust the US not even thier staunchest allies, the guy is a complete and utter moron.
1
Pete and Bernie slay it on FOX
1
Faux nationalism if they cared about democracy or thier country they wouldn't fill thier heads so full of shit*
1
The Republican backers spouting Russian propaganda is crazy, Trump is a straight jacket case he has been for a while
1
It's the right wing media ecosystem that constantly stokes fear and hate, they use the fight and flight reaction in people's brains Facebook has a lot to answer for
1
@Youtubedeletes by the time there mandatory they will be a fraction of the price they are now an EV has 40 moving parts an ICE has 4,000 economies of scale are going off the charts and Tesla currently make 20% markup look at it like what happened with the IPhone there's a premium model then within 5-6 years the market is swamped with cheaper options Solar panels are going the same way 2 major developments in the pipeline
1
A lot of the voter suppresion tactics seem to be backfiring, with Trump being so universally hated it's driving turnout on the Dem side and the the fact that the GOP are trying to stop you is just getting tons of free mainstream media in numerous states. The Greg Abbot decision is all over Texas media and has literally set everyone's hair on fire with the screw you GOP with additional stories of long lines at ballot drop off points add that to Typhoid Mary Don's antics and everyone is really pissed
1
You currently have a vote that counts you need to use it while you can there are many countries round the world who's votes are meaningless and the US will be one of them after a Trump second term he will have subverted the courts and rigged the system, he cheats and will do it on a massive scale
1
Reported deaths v actual has been calculated in Europe as +40% the full nightmare of this virus won't become apparent till the death toll data for actual verses expected is examined.
1
Prices aren't coming down just slowing the long term switch to renewables over fossil even though its at full speed has a lag time on energy prices. Food will continue to go up due to changing climate and the intense farming methods being unsustainable
1
@jmjfanss there's plenty of money in the system
1
The US has 35% of the GDP controlled by the state Norway a liberal country has 50% The UK post war under a labour (socialist govt) with 60-65% A full Warren was estimated at 42% GDP A full Bernie was estimated at 55% A full communist is a 100%
1
@SaintGerbilUK no response to what?
1
The Republicans couldn't manage a sandwich shop
1
By all accounts Arizona has had some space cadets in for years it's just now coming home to roost as it goes national / international
1
Well said David the voice of reason as always, there are countries around the world that don't have a choice at all its Putin or Putin in Hungry it looks like Orban has cemented his place as dictator in Turkey its Erdagon and Duda in Poland is remaking their judiciary to promote their authoritarian agenda
1
Trump's the worst thing since 1918, his words are just word salad he makes stuff up and lies all over the shop. What he's done to the world will not be forgotten and on the current performance of brain melt he'll be a gibbering puddle by November
1
Only 4 trillion was tax cuts for the wealthy but still what happened to fixing the roof when the sun shines? This rally is on the back of record Government investment which has record private investment alongside record new incorporation The first 2+ years of DJT was the tail of Obama economy and the clean up post Bush.
1
Fox business is garbage why would anyone interested in the markets actually use it as a reference for your business or portfolio decisions
1
These aren't Republican there the juiced up cult crazies that Trump has been able to glue onto the Republican coalition. The conspiracy Q nut balls etc. The White grievance uneducated male is apparently one of the lowest propensity voters so no Trump on the ballot then the turnout will dive. By the way according to voting data approx 900k registered voters in the Atlanta area didn't vote
1
If you want to change the system then join it and work to get your polocies adopted, the Democratic party is changing due to the younger members, you need to get in there and fight your corner. Joe just ended up as a default candidate and even the DNC weren't over keen on him as soon as the African American vote went to him in virtual lockstep it was over for the others.
1
Biden is striving for unity with those prepared to listen, not with the elite sponsored top 1% channel that claims faux Populism.
1
He really doesn't get how batshit crazy he sounds
1
Warren to me looks head and shoulders above everyone at this point after taking in the town halls, Bernie sounds like Bernie and Biden is just there on name recognition by the way he's going I just can't see him surviving with such strong opposition. I like mayor Pete mostly cos he pushes all the wrong buttons on the alt-right control panel and makes them look petty and small.
1
Excellent discussion but Bernie has moved the needle, he's not just an outsider though this time his legacy is those who take up the torch, the weird thing is Warren would have given you a real foothold with progressive polocies but it had to be all in or nothing and that's just not going to happen. Bernie is too my way or the highway in terms of flexibility, a complete change on his terms a lot for everyone to take in one shot.
