  3. They didn't say Isabel Oakshott is the partner of Richard Tice of the Reform Party. The Reform Party's candidate had previously been sending sexual texts to a 16 year old. This is probably why he wasn't popular. This was from the Manchester Evening News in November 2022, 'A former Greater Manchester MP who was suspended after he was caught sending lewd texts to a teenage girl has announced his engagement to a woman half his age. Simon Danczuk, 56, represented Rochdale between 2010 and 2017 but was thrown out by the Labour party after the scandal emerged following his marriage breakdown with wife, Karen.' Richard Tice is now whining and looking for scapegoats to explain why the Reform Party did so badly in the election.

  4. The mayor has put more money into policing but can't make up for massive cuts to police funds from central (Tory) government. He has prompted the police to do more stop and search but the police are under great pressure since the Tory budget cuts mean the loss of 20,000 police officers and knife crime, and the causes of it go further back than Khan's time, to Tory austerity cuts in youth services. Knife crime was building up under Boris Johnson. Also the Tories have done very little about gang crime since it first started years ago, probably on the basis that it wasn't affecting Tory voters and was mainly black on black crime. I'm surprised at George Galloway spouting Tory views but Galloway's a bit of a tart. He's never criticised Russia's criminal regime and the number of political opponents the Russian regime has eliminated. He wouldn't be able to speak against the government in Russia as he does here but he's paid to appear on Russia Today TV station, so I don't suppose he wants to bite the hand that feeds him. Boris Johnson wasn't a better mayor. He did nothing worthwhile - just a few useless vanity projects which cost and lost millions. Galloway claims he's not being racist so why does he use the term 'failed experiment'. In what sense is this an experiment? Having a muslim as mayor? If he means that, it sounds racist. For mayor, you have to choose someone who can win as well as someone who is capable. Khan won in the teeth of his opponent, rich man Goldsmith's racist campaign. It's hard to get affordable houses in a year as Galloway well knows because you have to go through procedures and get developers to co-operate. He is at least doing more than previous Mayors including Boris Johnson. What does George Galloway do other than spout his mouth off in the media? He's a failed MP. The British government refused a visa to the Russian cousin of the Skripals because it was feared that the Russian government would try to get to them through her. The cousin was starting to talk as if on behalf of the Skripals, and they said only they could speak for themselves, and they did not want to see their cousin. What nonsense Galloway talks when he's in attack mode. He's an apologist for Putin. The Skripals did not go back to Russia and did not want to go back to Russia. The Skripals did not want the cousin giving away their whereabouts in case a further assassination attempt was tried.

Have you noticed how good Farage is at criticising and fault finding with everyone else (that's the easy bit) but he's very short on ideas for improving things and the detail on those and the funding for those.

  12.  @lostintranslation1957  I can't find what doesn't exist i.e. his constructive economic ideas, and as for Brexit, my evidence is the state of the economy now and the fact that no one has really found any Brexit benefit but plenty of sectors including farming, fishing and business, can't point to the damage done.

  20. If Rod Liddle doesn't take her seriously, she must be doing something right. Nothing she said was factually wrong. The apology is because the BBC is under threat from the government which threatens to scrap the TV licence. If anyone is bullying it's the government bullying the BBC. Also the BBC apologising did not say what Rod Liddle says they said. They said she was summarising questions to be put following her introduction and that wasn't made clear. I don't think that's right either, but it was the BBC trying to save face and meet the government's requirement for an apology at the same time.

  24. Only the wealthier will be paying more, that's what he doesn't like as it will affect people like him.. Employers can't pass on extra NI taxes to workers in terms of their wages, if workers have a contract of employment. That would be illegal.

  44.  @chrisgadsby5700  The BBC's charter requires it to be 'balanced' so if you think it's not, and you have collected evidence to prove it - by which I mean counting left, centre and right, viewpoints in programmes over a consistent period of time, you can write to the governors to point out bias. Every time the BBC has a spokesperson with some opinion they have to try and find someone of the opposite opinion to balance it. Very few people if any, ever prove bias against the BBC. What generally happens is that some people get used to hearing only views they agree with from selected other media sites and when they hear different views on the BBC it enrages them.

  45.  @jasonhannon4735  I don't think that will happen somehow, but don't we have the same situation already if people don't pay taxes, especially if they refuse to pay rather than not being able to afford to pay? What about all the people in the UK who can no longer feed themselves and their families and rely on food banks ? I don't see people making such a big fuss about that, but the TV licence issue enrages them. Food is essential. TV is not.

  46.  @howardjones7370  If you have collected verifiable proof that they have broken the terms of their charter in terms of impartiality, write to the governors of the BBC and send it to them. Their charter requires them to be balanced which means if they have people with one opinion they have to balance it out (not necessarily in the same show but over a reasonable time) with opposing opinions. I suspect what people think of as bias, is hearing, from a range of views, the views they dislike. So many people now can select media sites that only reflect their own bias that they are less and less used to hearing opposing viewpoints.

If you are going to use a French phrase, make sure you know how to spell it. Was that admission of bias from a new head of the BBC that the government had a hand in appointing? Presumably he'll do his job to kow tow to the government now.
